I got a Stent put in Today (1 Viewer)

My BIL had one about 5 years ago and is doing well today. He was told to lose weight and control other cardiovascular risk factors, especially those associated with diabetes.

Glad you're OK.

Hope you have a smooth recovery.
Feeling much better now. Had some chest pains a couple time earlier in the week which troubled me, but they went away after a few minutes. This one hung around so I knew it was serious.

Pretty amazing surgery. Feeling better now.
Had the same done to me this past November (6'0', was 205 now 197 and dropping slowly, 49). I had to make a few lifestyle changes, but I think the constant lack of sleep had no small effect on my condition. Beer not good either. I've got a fitness band with a heart rate monitor and I've observed that my resting heart rate gets down to about 53 bpm while sleeping, unless I drink a 6 pack - then it only drops to 65. I'm not a doctor but I'm guessing an extra 5000+ heart beats while sleeping is not good.

Get used to annoying things like little cuts that bleed forever while you are on the blood thinners (Brilinta) and bruises. I always seem to have one or two on my arms. Also I was on Lipitor but it made me feel like complete crap. About a week and half afterward I stopped taking it I felt like the king of the world and now I'm hitting the gym regularly which will probably do far more for me than the ####### pill.

Wow - good luck and a quick recovery.

GLGB... I'll try not to bust your balls too much in TimLeeg.

I get mild chest pains all the time. :oldunsure: Been getting them a few times a week for 20 years now though. Figured I'd be dead by now if it was serious. Almost sure it's work/stress-related, because they always go away when I relax at night.

Not a huge fan of taking lots of medication. I think we over medicate in this country. A healthy lifestyle should be the preferred solution.

Can you share more on the procedure? What vessels did they stent? Just a single stent, or did they do a couple?

Glad you are feeling better!

Glad you're ok. Do like I did and buy a blendtec. I eat more vegetables now in two days than I used to in a month.

Bought it 3 months ago, have used it every day and can't imagine ever not having one again.

Wow, glad you went in and took care of that. Mister CIA, too. Hope you're both on the road to recovery.

The anti-platelets are a big deal though, those stents tend to clot right back up if you don't take them. And while there's been some discussion here about the benefit (or lack thereof) of statin therapy, in people that have heart disease, statins prevent death. Although lifestyle changes will probably be biggest thing you can do to prevent a recurrence.Glad you're OK :)

I Am good at eating fruits and veggies. It is the damn snack machine at work when I need a boost which kills me.

Planned or emergency?
Emergency.
Wow, glad you're doing alright dude.
Thanks. I had a chest pain which did not go away for about 15 minutes. Decided a trip to the emergency room was the right call. Had surgery within a hour.
Glad you took the pain seriously and went to the ER. My dad had his heart attack 30 years ago this month. He waited almost too long to go to hospital and suffered cardiac arrest in the ER. He's 78 and still going strong.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Good to hear your dad is doing so well for so long.
