Okay, I'm sure this has been said before, but I'll go ahead and give the speech again.

Internet people are lazy. Two-letter abbreviations are very common. Adrian Peterson was known as AD when he entered OU. That's been around for a while. His backup for the past two years is named Allen Patrick.

The use of AD completely eliminated ambiguousness within the context of OU fans' conversations. AP meant Allen Patrick and AD meant Adrian Peterson. Hardcore college football fans that picked up the various local customs had the AD moniker strongly ingrained within them.

AD means Adrian Peterson. It has for some time. I know that it's a really silly, but it actually makes some people think less of your football knowledge if you have any issues with the AD nickname.

Just because people complain about it, doesn't mean those people know less about football.I wish there had been a choice in this poll for "I know AD stands for All Day, but I just think it's a stupid nickname whether his daddy gave it to him or not."

I don't like it and made the same argument for Carnell Williams--who incidentally, has not done anything to earn his nickname yet. As others have said, AD is annoying because of its similarity to AP, which seems the natural abbreviation. If you want to use the nick name, use the nickname at least, and not an abbreviation of the nick name.

You're a Vikings fan Andy. Please come up with a catchier nickname for this guy that maybe the rest of Viking nation can adopt.
SOAST.
OK :fishy: What is SOAST?
The first thing I could come up with.Superstar On A Sucky Team.I'll think harder. :bag:
How about "Talent On A Sucky Team." Oh, wait...
Wouldn't he have to be known as TOAST-2. Otherwise we might think you are talking about Elvis 'toast' Patterson. ;)

He got the nickname in high school. It's not like he started calling himself that once he was drafted.
It's not the nickname that's the problem here. Call him 'All Day' all day long if you like. but when you post about Adrian Peterson and only refer to him as 'AD' it can get to be annoying or confusing to some (a little over 50% of those not choosing the Smoo option so far in the poll).
Honestly, I really don't care, dude can let people call him what they want, but i did think the reason you allowed others to use your initials was because your name is diffilcult in some way. Sorry, it is not more effort to say "All Day" versus "AD"
And after we get this one straightened out, maybe we can work on the www. World Wide Web is easier to say.
