I just met Keith Morin today (1 Viewer)

has anybody raised the question of how somebody playing in the minorish of minors counts as having played in Major League Baseball?

because that's a question.

I met Ryan Vogelsong last year. I attended his brother's wedding. (My wife is close friends with the bride's mother.) Seemed like a nice guy. When he pitched in the Series, he flew the entire family out- around 30 people in all- and bought them seats, took them to dinner. I thought that was pretty cool.

AND- back when my daughter was around a few years old I was at Long Beach's Shoreline Village, walking with her stroller, and who should we pass but KOBE BRYANT!!

I said to my daughter, "Say hi to Kobe!" and she laughed. Kobe kneeled down and said, "Cute baby". Then he smiled at us and walked away.

The very next day he was arrested for rape. But of course that turned out to be a false charge...

:bs:

Kobe didn't play in MLB

So, 33 years ago he played 44 games in the minor leagues and his still wears his jacket.

Good for him.
How many minor league games have you played?
I can't speak for Clown, but I probably have a few hundred. Maybe a dozen at the t-ball level, 25 at coach pitch, couple hundred before high school and another hundred in high school.
When would you like to schedule an interview?
I never did coke and I rarely talk about the glory days at an interview.

Do you still wear your Varsity jacket?
Just at my yearly review.

We're a lot alike, you and I.

He didnt talk about it.

It was on his resume.

So he's hoping to get hired as a ringer for the company softball tournament?

I stole a base off Billy Petrick in high school. He had a cup of coffee with the Cubs but had a straight fastball.

Roger Powel (U of I) blocked a 3 of mine. Could swear he was at the free throw line. Also hike school.

Matt Capps farted on me.

We have no room for a career .223 hitter

I met Anthony Munoz in the mid 80's and I asked if her heard the Bengals hired a new Chinese Coach. Win Wan Soon

I think meeting Kobe is more thread worthy than Keith Morin or whatever his name was. I have run across a dozen of athletes whom it is likely you have actually seen play unlike this dude.

I disagree. I bet this dude has watched those guys play also.

There is or was a thread for famous athletes we've met. I agree this isn't thread worthy.

We are on page 2.

It stimulated some conversation.

I played basketball and JV football against Trent Dilfer.

Glenallen Hill and another MLB player who claims the Ripken-Costner thing happened were on-again-off-again in our poker game about 10 years ago.

Buddy's stepson pitches for the Mets.

Know the Ayanbadejo brothers and a few others.

I partied with Clapton and his band once. My favorite brush with greatness story though is from my Dad - he was at a urinal in Atlantic City and Manute Bol came in to the urinal next to him! And before you ask, he has no idea if Manute is minute or not. My guess is definitely not.

Isn't there already a thread about your loose brushes with athletes that no one cares about? This thread is about the legend of Keith Morin or Morim. Whatever.

I read this as Keith Morris. Was going to say I love the circle jerks.

I dont know who the guy you really met is though

I met Anthony Munoz in the mid 80's and I asked if her heard the Bengals hired a new Chinese Coach. Win Wan Soon
I once made a one-handed catch to save Anthony Munoz from getting hit in the back with a football while he was giving a speech to a crowd of about 50 Miami (Ohio) boosters. After the crowd audibly gasped, he stopped talking, turned around, saw me with the ball, gave me a one-handed finger pistol, and said "nice catch". True story.

One of my best buddies pitched in the Braves farm system at a significantly higher level than this guy.... Till his arm exploded and needed TJ surgery, which the club refused to pick up the tab on because of a few fibers of scar tissue which indicated the damage started in HS (duh, southpaw power pitcher)....

Recently got called in for a tryout with the Yankees a good half decade afterward.

Moral of the story: Yankees are apparently really hard up for lefties who can throw in the low 90s.

He was a very interesting dude

You guys are mean
Mean? He might very well be a nice guy who has same cool stories, but there are thousands and thousands more noteworthy athletes. He is certainly nowhere close to a mlb player.
I didnt know that til I started the thread
You didn't know there were thousands of more noteworthy athletes or you didn't know the contents of the link that you shared that stated he played a few games of minor league ball at his best?

kind of strange.

you started a thread about an MLB player and provided a link to his minuscule minor league career. the time you spent starting thread could have been used clicking on your own link and not starting a thread... or starting a different thread.
