I just saw a guy fall out of a building (1 Viewer)

Not only was the guy fortunate he hit a vehicle, he was fortunate on where he hit it, how he hit it, and the type of vehicle it was.
That was the first though in my mind. When he hit, the car instantly crumbled and i thought to myself that may have just save his life. The fact that he fell flat, on his back instead of his front (no idea if that makes a difference) and that the roof instanly caved in. I honestly think he bounced off of the roof, but could be mistaken, because hit landed on the ground flat on his back and never moved. the car was moving as well so it really was a one in a million shot. My mind is still blown.

Does landing on a car roof really qualify as a cushioned fall?
If you would have heard it i would say yes.....the top just crumpled. I can't imagine what it would have looked like if he hit the street. I think i am still in shock. I was one of the pedestrian that made sure his neck did not move and directed 911 operators to the scene.
Dayum

Was the guy in the car shaken up?
Honestly, i went strait to the guy that fell...I couldn't tell you if it was man or women or if there were multiple people in the car....they are lucky there was nobody (i assume) in the back because the car is completely caved in.

He hit a moving vehicle. Maybe not just a thud and done, but a thud and a roll.... maybe that helps spread the impact somehow?

He may well have bounced a bit. If you hit the ground without a chute you'll bounce, Once. Never saw it in person but saw Army film of it. Ugly. He is darn lucky and nice job to you.

Damn...good for you for helping out.
Yup, this. Sorry you saw that but thanks for being one of the good guys left in the world. Jesus...
I was really shaken up this AM until i found out he was stable....looke like a regular joe, could have been any one of our fathers. Very glad to hear is ok though....
Stable? Fall 11 stories onto a moving car and essentially walk away. That's astonishing.

he was far from walking away. I imagine he will be in ICU for some time. He had to have had multie broken bone. Neither of his legs looked right, his collar bone was shattered ect....i think alive is the best way to put it.

Did he at least flap his arms or anything?
#### :lmao:

But seriously OP, that's terrible, and I really would not have thought that one could survive an 11 story drop, even if they landed on a nice, soft, Toyota.

Good for you for helping, my pessimism would lead me to believe that most would stand around taking pictures and tagging themselves on InstaFaceSnap instead of calling 911.

how much of it did you see? Did you see him falling before he hit the car? If so what did you think?

Good job helping out btw. I would have probably puked and then cried.

You're a good man. A clear head in a crisis. He was lucky you were there.
Ditto, great job.

Amazing you were front row and center at a national story.

wow this is a national story now...

You know it was bad because his shoe flew off.
honestly, that was one of the first things I notice. I remember looking at it and wondering if I should grab it or not as I was walking over to him...crazy. Eta...for perspective I stepped over the shoe as one of the first people walking up to hIm.

Sorry that you had to witness that. I saw a guy commit suicide once, and it's these things that you really don't move past. Kudos to you for not freezing up, and helping out in a really bad situation.

I'm utterly ashamed of myself. The first thing I thought of after I read the op was a certain Filter song....

Glad he's okay (relatively) and you were there to help.

I hope the insurance company of that guy's car gets announced and they lose a ton of business. How can something like that not be covered?

Sbonomo you are a class act. Glad he didn't land on you or splat like a pumpkin in front of you. Can't believe he landed on the roof of a moving car. Divine mother####ing intervention.

And sbonomo who is the chick in your avatar? I'd click on your profile to get a better view but that doesn't work apparently.

Saw this on the local news. Wow. Poor guy. So glad he survived. Such a dangerous job they do. How horrifying to see this actually happen! Good for you for helping out! I know many people would be frozen to make a move.

Nuts, welcome to the Bay Area.

Bet you didn't get this kind of excitement in your old stomping ground.

It's great you and other similarly minded folk were there to help him out. Should feel proud of yourself for handling it so well in an emergency.
