yep thats great,now they join the group of like 50 to knock off a top 5team in this parity driven college football season
The reason so many top-5 teams keep going down is because the polls are based on who is the most "deserving", not who is the best football team (hence South Florida at #2). If the pollsters just put teams like LSU, Oklahoma, and Oregon at the top and said "you know, even if they lose, they're still one of the three best teams in the country", you'd see a lot fewer "upsets". You'd also see a lot fewer ridiculous situations, such as a top-10 team being a 7+ point underdog at home to a lower ranked team (Kentucky vs. Florida).
In fact, I wish we could somehow get Vegas to do the polls. They could rank all the teams based entirely on who would be favored on a neutral field, and by how much. It would beat the pants off of the current rankings. Bowl games and the national championship could still be determined by the current polls (because those SHOULD go to the teams that are the most deserving, rather than the teams that are the best), but whenever we were talking about upsets or "top 5 teams" falling, we'd all agree to use the Vegas poll.
