I usually fair pretty well post season wise and keep involved competitively up until Christmas. Now that I'm ousted, December looks rather sucky. The NFL is all but sown up by the over exposed Patriots, the network shows now are into rerun episodes due to the writers strike and now my wife wants me to go Christmas shopping with her. Can it get any worse? UHHG....

This message board is my only sanctuary right now so give me some ideas how to entertain myself up until the Draft next year in April.

Look for your sleeper and value picks for next year. Watch as may games as you can, take notes, ask opions on message boards, etc.We also run a Playoff league after the season is over. You could start one.

I usually tell as many people as possible specifically which players let me down and caused me to lose. Then I vow to never draft them again. Then I talk about how fantasy football is all luck and if my league didn't have such a strange scoring system and/or number of roster spots I would have won it all. Then I watch my players explode during the remaining playoff weeks and tell myself, "If I'd only made it through that one week..." Then I decide that maybe I should just quit FF all together because it is just luck and waste of my money.

Then I sign up to do it all over again.

Ahhh...good times, good times...

P.S. Did I tell you that ADP and Kolby Smith combined for one point a ousted me from my playoffs and if either of them had even had a decent day I would have won?

Check Mock Drafts R Us in a few weeks -- I think someone may start recruiting for a 2008 Winter Survivor League draft shortly.

Do what I do...

1. Play in both redrafts and dynasty leagues

2. Some above suggestions about a playoff fantasy challenge are a great idea. Makes the next 6 weeks MUCH more interesting. We do a week 17 "Pro Bowl" (everyone picks their own dream roster), as well as a playoff contest. Has been a huge hit every year.

3. Sit down NOW, spend some time making your own cheatsheet ranking players at each position while it's very fresh in your head. Months down the line (preferably after NFL Draft and free agency), pick it back up and go from there. You'll be surprised what a difference it makes.

4. Start watching college basketball, all the while assuring yourself that you're getting a HUGE advantage over everyone else in your big $$$ bracket league (yeah right....I never win  )

As punishment for your underperformance you should buy a case of Coors(not Coors Light) and drink it in 2 days time. After this you will have faced your demons and you can move on. Otherwise this could linger for a few months.

My condolences! There are plenty of good books about football. ?
How about The Draft and The Cut by Pete Williams, who Cece interviewed...sounds coolOr...this looks very cool, a football book by the author of Moneyball (which was about baseball) The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game

As he did so memorably for baseball in Moneyball, Lewis takes a statistical X-ray of the hidden substructure of football, outlining the invisible doings of unsung players that determine the outcome more than the showy exploits of point scorers. In his sketch of the gridiron arms race, first came the modern, meticulously choreographed passing offense...
Or...get your PATS love on book, book 2Or...get your football geek on Football Physics: The Science of the Game

Or head over to the Assistant Coach board and help some folks out.

Hockey. Yeah I said it, go watch some hockey. College Basketball is going to heat up soon as well. Start researching for your March madness bracket and by the time that’s over it'll be combine and draft time.
