My bread and butter station is one I put together where every song not by GN'R, the Killers, or the Afghan Whigs gets thumbs down.

For reasons I can't explain, I created one called "Ambient (Classic/Electronica)". Just a genre, not a group. Talk about a box of chocolates.

I was a pandora loyalist until I found www.hypem.com ... much easier to use, friendly and you can easily download mp3's you are listening to off of the blogs where they are posted.

Sure, you have to do more of the "leg work" to find the music/artists, but you dont have to sit back and listen to tracks you'd rather skip.

I have 13 Pandora stations:

Chicago blues

mellow instrumentals a la Miles Davis' "Blue in Green"

Christmas music a la Vince Guaraldi Trio (AKA the jazz behind A Charlie Brown Christmas)

vocal madrigals

pure, unabashed pop a la Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, etc.

blues a la B.B. King

"Rock out with your #### out", a la Red Hot Chili Peppers

"Do the humpty-hump", a la '80s hip-hop and rap

country swing

really mellow crap for when I've had very little sleep

funky-dancy stuff, a la Parliament/Funkadelic, Michael Franti, Keb Mo

Chapelle's Block Party (artists from the movie)

sappy-### country, a la Loretta Lynn/George Jones duets

Black Keys channel is awesome, I have been listening to it all day. Just listened to the beautiful girls and now look over yonder by

Jimi, awesome.

Just discovered this a week or so ago. Big fan.

Rage Against the Machine

Soundgarden

I advise against Ice Cube channel around students.

Is it still a memory hog or have they fixed that?

I used to love it, but it would lock up any other programs or browsers I was running.

Is this a delta blues duo out of Akron, OH? I have a co-worker that raves about these guys and went to see them tonight in SF.Do they have their own channel or does Pandora let you choose them, then suggest other music to listen to?
Hi Snit,Yes, that's them. I love these guys. Been following them since the Thickfreakness album. They're pretty raw, but if you like that kind of music, I think you'll like them. For Pandora, you just select an artist and Pandora creates a channel for you. Then you "shape" it with likes and dislikes. It's super cool.

I've had one station over there since 2006. I basically just listen and at times give a  or

No idea if I should be "adding songs" or how it works best for sharing but here it is:

Judas Priest

Huh, I thought they were from Kentucky. Got one of their albums and really like it. Looking at their website, they're touring the world and selling out every venue.

Introduced pandora to friends at poker night and they all love it.

Got one "Favorite songs" station, where I simply thumbup every song I like - got a lot of solid reccomendations of songs I haven't heard of on this one

Also have a "Pearl Jam Only" station where I thumbdown everything not PJ....for that pj mood

Just discovered this and love it. Pretty amazing AI (for lack of a better term).

I would also suggest that everyone put their song lists in their sigs.

I really liked it at first but now it's just the same stuff over and over. Plus all of the songs I've never heard are pretty bad.

Still digging Pandora.

Just put together a station based upon The Old 97's, Drive-by Truckers, The Hold Steady, Southern Culture on the Skids and Eddie Spaghetti. The first tune was a Dinosaur Jr. song, which doesn't really seem to fit with the others, but I really like it.

The latest rage is

http://www.lala.com

You can store your whole music library on the internet.

No more worrying about your hard drive chashing.

You can also share music.

All the major record labels are on board along with

over 100K independent labels.

I've already got Napster to Go, which allows me to access my library from anywhere. I mostly use Pandora to seek out new stuff to download on my player for Napster. Is there some advantage to Lala I'm missing here?

How do you create a station based on multiple artists?

You can add other artists by clicking on "Add variety to this station" under the "Station options" menu.

Sadly Pandora, and most other sites like it, may be ending soon.

Last FM was purchased by CBS so they should be able to survive for a while, but it's still pretty sad.

Click on the station, and one of the options is "Add Variety to this Station." Just enter another artist/song in there.

I don't know much about LaLa, but they've all the big labels and tons of indies on board.I would welcome some info comparing Napster to go and LaLa.

Looks like it's 79 cents per song to download an mp3 from Lala. Napster's $14.95 a month and includes online streaming and unlimited downloads. Lala claims 6 million songs. Napster claims "millions."

HOLY MOTHER ####### ####.

I apologize for the profanities, but this thing is THAT good. Amazing. M'r F'n crazy freakin' good.

I'm using this site for the first time tonight. I'm trying a "seed" of Snow Patrol, Ben Folds Five, Weezer and Moby and seeing where it takes me. I'm impressed so far - this is addicting.

How do I "seed" - I am trying to add artists in the mix and haven't figured out how yet.
