I love week one panic moves (1 Viewer)

Somebody in my league dropped Colston...

BEFORE he played.

I was shocked and annoyed, since I had the #5 waiver pick and there was no way I could get a piece of that.

But it gets even stranger.

Because he actually FELL to me after the weekend's games

Someone has since offered me Deuce McAllister for him, but since I have Bush, and I can't decide if it's worth starting two RB on the same team.

here fishy, fishy. Dropping Colston is just wrong

In one of my leagues, standard performance scoring, 1/2/2/1/1/1 + flex RB/WR, no PPR, these drops were made:

Ced Taylor

Greg Jennings

Michael Turner for a chump QB - guy has Eli Manning as his primary and a decent b/u, maybe Delhomme

Jennings is understandable, but the two backs really aren't

So, who made it to your FA pool who you were a bit surprised to see?
why is that?
Dinged up receiver with dreaded hamstring problems, he's the second receiver on the team, there are some decent options breathing down his neck for playing time. It's just understandable - not something I would do, but understandable.

Not too unbelievable, but there is a trade about to go through in my league:

Reggie Bush + TO for Stephen Jackson + Issac Bruce

Hmmm. Is that really that bad of a deal for either side? I mean, assuming that it's understood that Bruce had an off week and isn't done or whatever some clowns are saying/thinking.

yeah but then what did that person draft him for?

because at the time of that persons draft, jennings was likely not injured and the presumed lock for the 2nd receiver spot.

12 team league...usually very competitive, however...

Both Dunn and F.taylor were ditched when their owners pushed the Easy button.

Missed on Dunn but I scooped up Fred two days laters when waivers cleared..can't think that's a bad move for a #4 RB, eh?

You're right. No sane person would ever drop Cedric Taylor. The lucky dog who claims him off the waiver wire will definitely become the odds-on favorite to win your league.

i dont know why people continue to feel the need to joke at levin s mistake when so many before them have already. Especially since each joke says the same thing. Having saying that, i got to say it was hella funny when someone pointed out levin s mistake and he tried to correct it by saying cedRICK taylor.

Now this is not an outrageous drop, but a guy in my league dropped Chris Henry (CIN-WR). I thought it was funny because I bet the cheatsheet he used ranked him somewhat high, he drafted him not knowing any better, and when he saw the NA next to his name and realized he was suspended for 8 games decided to drop him. In a league where 8 teams out of 12 make the playoffs, I think you gotta stash him for half the season.

Guy in my league offered me LJ for TO. I happily accepted a stud starting RB (while he may not put up numbers of last year) over a WR.

2 PPR leagues I am in, Mike Furrey was dropped.

I understand he's not going to lead the conference in receptions again, but I think this was way too early IMO to bail.

I picked him up in one for Cedrick Wilson, and missed out on the other.

Why would any wide receiver who is suspended for half the year and when he returns will be no better than the #3 WR on his team fall into the category of "gotta stash"?

curious how that works outSaw some good debate in the LJ too many carries thread and a friend of mine likes to point out that their line had better backups then they have starters now.

His TD per game numbers are along the lines of star WRs, as a #3 WR. It is entirely possible that Housh or CJ gets hurt so he could even have more value by week 8 or 9, whichever it is. Deep leagues have 4th and 5th WRs on their FF rosters so even playing half a year, he's better than a good amount of rosterred players. I think that's the difference. In a not so deep league, I'd want that roster spot to play the WW.

:lmao: multiplied by a sideways 8Javon Walker dropped? Wow.Furrey I understand - he often made it to someone's fifth WR slot on th assumption CedRICK Johnson wouldn't start strong. And then when both McDonald and CedRICK Johnson had good weeks, the person decided to upgrade a different spot - or upgrade their WR5 spot to a player with more upside.(yes, I know it's Calvin)

Exactly. Our rosters go 17 deep, so after my 3 starting WR's I had, Berrian, Bobby Wade, and David Boston - after dropping Boston it was a no brainer. Incidentally the guy that dropped him picked up Colts D - opting to just keep 2 extra WR's (Moulds and Horn).

Somebody dropped Isaac Bruce for Antwaan Randle El, in a 14 team league. My WR's are not that good, so I picked him up. He should make a decent WR3.

Bruce didn't do very well last week and so I have a WDIS issue with him. I haven't cut bait yet but at his age, that guy could have made a move at the perfect time. As long as Lloyd keeps sleeping and unless Reche does well, El could be a nice bye week cover. If that's his thinking I can see that move. I'd have tried to trade him though.

Outside of a normal WW pick-up, I rarely if ever make any transactions prior to week 4 and I identify my most droppable players right after the draft. If a guy has three bad weeks and is supposed to be good, he will probably work the kinks out. I'm pretty patient unless I didn't draft for depth which rarely happens.

14-team dynasty PPR...

Reggie Williams dropped

Michael Clayton dropped

These guys may not have been performing recently, but for what you're getting on the wire with 14 team 22 man rosters... I'll take these two any day and sit them at the end of my roster..

... although thanks to the guys out there who alerted me to the "Ced" business. To think I'd miss another classic Levin screwup. Still rofl about the roof over the Seahaks stadium.
