I quit smoking! (2 Viewers)

Had a cigarette this morning.... I think if I quit working I would have a much easier time with the no smoking. I will start again tomorrow.
it's really hard to quit. don't kid yourself. you have to be ready to tackle the physical and mental pain that comes with it. however, you can do it. life without smokes is much, much better. you've just forgotten what it's like. good luck!

Day 3: 72 hours has passed.I am struggling with the need to occupy my bored moments. I keep going to the "breath deep & refocus my energy" card, but i am sitting here playing madden & keep thinking its time to get up & get a smoke. I instantly remind myself that smoking is no longer an option and the urge passes, but i am ready for these old triggers to start happening less.Cigs smelled bad at the end of the shift last night & again this morning. I was able to smell someone smoking in their car as they drove by  and was disgusted by it. One of my staff caught me making the disgusted face & gave me props for already hating the sight & smell. I only hope this is a continuing sign of things to come.

Keep up the good work. I don't bug BSR too much about it as he gets mad at me when we talk about it too much. I'm hoping he just does it. :( Oh, and ignore Peens when he tells you to keep smoking. I'll deal with him later. :boxing:

It's all in the head. You carry everything with you. You're mind is stronger than the temporary desire to ruin a good thing.I'm working on the soon-to-be Mrs. Squirrels. She can be more ornery than you however, so I'm taking it slowly.

Tipsy, I think what will help you keep busy while quitting, you should overnight me some of those crab cakes you mentioned in the other thread. Sounds reallllllly good. ;)

I'm with ya.Tried not too long ago but the headaches were ridiculous. Although folks from this board were encouraging, I'm not gonna do it "cold Turkey". Went from pack to pack and a half a day down to 8-10 now. I can pretty much tell ya the ten and they're all hard. After I eat, when I wake, when I sleep, after sex etc. Looking at those no nicotine Quest cigarrettes, may try them then.Rest of the day, I eat alot of lollipops(figure that oral fixation thing so I tried and it's working) cinammon candies and well anything like that. Oddly enough best thing for me is a cinammon stick. If a craving gets bad I run a short distance as fast as can be hopefully get me huffing and puffing. Smell my clothes doesn't work but looking at cieling or smelling drapes does for whatever reason. I guess clothes are assumed stinky. Twice I bit the tip off a cig and spit it out. It's just gross and maybe I need to get my mind set on thinking that it's gross. It was silly but really worked. Now I can smell things. Didn't realize my sense of smell was so awful before. I'm like a girl in a store smelling soap and air fresheners but..Brushing my teeth real often was helping but my gums are rrrraw now. Just swigging listerine often now instead. Is that removing nicotine? Dunno but it certainly helps.Trying pretty hard this time. If streaking down the street naked would make me quit, I'd do it. I'll try anything now.Friend quit fast(wanna say 2 weeks) with Smoke Away. I'm tempted. Patch and gum never worked for either of us. Commercial is hysterical that he says "I'd rather chew on a cigarette."
i am wondering how Bri is doing with all this.

I had a long day yesterday, worked from 7:00 AM till almost 10:00 PM. I smoked thrice and feel horrible about it.

Since you are addicted to nicotine, I would strongly suggest that you do not use any nicotine replacement products. You are just reinforcing your addiction. I quit three years ago and this sitewhyquit really helped. The guy who owns the the site basically has dedicated his life to helping people quit. He dispels a lot of false beliefs and takes a no nonsense approach to quitting. It has an ok message board as well. The articles are the best though. Totally free and highly recommended for anyone who is trying to quit.
the website this guy listed has given me the best mental tools to use here. Thanks man.

Than today is your day one.Spend some time on the website i just listed. It is helping me. I am not ready for their naziesque messege board however.WHY QUIT

Today is the new day 4.The emotional rollercoaster i have been on since i originally quit on the 1st has been a little intense. I am now trying to deal with that stuff more than the need to smoke. I was in a great mood yesterday at work. Slightly busy, but nothing major. Making nice nice with the customers & staff. Than one underhanded comment by a waiter & I was deeply depressed & didn't say another unprovoked word the rest of the night. I went for a short walk (brilliant tipsy, start a thread about the crime in NOLA last week & already forgetting the danger here in my hood :wall: ) to clear my head. I felt better. Yet I wake up again today ready to avoid everyone I know. I really need a hobby or the will power to go excersise. Maybe cleaning the house like a lunatic will help. I think quitting the constant rituals surrounding smoking is messing with my OCD. I also ended up making the staff go to another dining room to smoke while I was doing the books. The smell (even a room away) made me sick. I immediately closed that dining room door & told them to take it outside. They all left within 2 minutes. If it means pissing others off because I can't be around it, than so be it.

people shouldn't smoke in the office. period. it stinks and it really bad for your health as a non-smoker. you really do have to exercise. i bike 20 miles a day which helps immensely. i couldn't have imagined quitting without it. it's like a mental reboot. keep at it. use that silk meter thingy i sent you the link for.

$280 dollars saved between Mrs. Tipsy & I since she quit buying them in early December. That is a mini vacation (driving) everymonth. Too bad that cash is going to the kid fund.I really don't want to post how much we have saved since we quit buying the chronic. :bag:

I cut beer/alchohol out of the budget, rather than sweet, sweet maryjaaane. It will go too, soon enough. But I don't want to think about it now. How much did you smoke before? Biweekly, lets say.PM if you aren't comfortable talking about this on the board.

I smoked for 17 years and haven't had one since 4/28/00. And I consider it to be one of the best things I have ever been able to accomplish. Mind over matter, Tipsey. If you can do this, ain't nothin you can't do

i don't envy you right now, but you'll get through it and be happier for it. if it were easy, then quitting wouldn't be the billion dollar industry that it is. my day will come, too

ahole. :hot: i predict you are wrong

last table just sat ( :hot: ) & I am getting drunk & needed to document that i will not fall into the "i can have just one".this is the part of the night that is always toughest....nothing to do until everyone is gone...oh well. im not saying i want one......far from it actually. I just know the temptation will be chiming in any minute (boredom is the worst for triggers to smoke) and i needed to solidify my stance.that is all.
