The Spring jump-ahead should take place at 4:00 on a Friday. Working away at the end of a long week, then - "hey, weekend!" The Fall-back is perfect - coming on a Saturday night.
Ridiculously awesome!!!!Yea, but getting dark at 9pm in June is kind of ridiculous too.
I agree, except that it is more like 10 PM here. My only complaint is that if you want to watch fireworks on the 4th of July, it makes for a fairly late night.Ridiculously awesome!!!!
Same problem here. But that's largely due to living on the far East side of the time zone.I agree, except that it is more like 10 PM here. My only complaint is that if you want to watch fireworks on the 4th of July, it makes for a fairly late night.
I don't really see it as a problem. When I was a kid my dad and I used to go play nine holes of golf, after dinner, fairly often.Same problem here. But that's largely due to living on the far East side of the time zone.
There in the summer I guess they get the choice of when they'd like their 2 hours of darkness...I love it staying light late. But I guess it is all in what you are used to. I was in Norway once in mid-June and it was really weird and disorienting.
I can see it. Not to mention medical errors by the staff who start at 6am or 7am like I do.A new study shows that there is a 5% increase in the likelihood of heart attacks, strokes, and workplace injuries on the day after the Daylight Saving Time switch.

That I can totally see.Living in a city surrounded by beaches
I have to say I love it being sunny till 8:20 in June and July and my family meets for dinner on the beach to watch the sunset.
I typically don't get home till 6:30 from work. Sure I can leave a little early to get in 9 holes, but if it got dark at 7 all the time, I'd have to only golf on the weekends. you wouldn't want that on your conscience, would you? That I can totally see.
I like it because it gives us time to do stuff after work, no real reason to complain, not that we can change it anyway. But we need to put blackout shades on our kids windows.
Do away with standard time and I'd agree with you.I can see it. Not to mention medical errors by the staff who start at 6am or 7am like I do.
That and the nightmare it is for accurate charting during emergency situations when the time is changing.
Just do away with it. It helps nothing and causes problems.

Just do away with any changes, period.Sand said:Do away with standard time and I'd agree with you.
It's happening sweetheart.....you just changed your clocks for the last time Mr!!!!!!!!Said no one ever before this post.gianmarco said:Florida leading the way in common sense.
Hopefully this trend works its way up the east coast. It's happening sweetheart.....you just changed your clocks for the last time Mr!!!!!!!!![]()
No more "standard time" in Florida....woot!
If this means "Daylight savings all the time", then I'm all for it. No way I want to give up daylight in the evenings. That's crazy talk.
Correct. The way it is now. I don't need it getting dark before 5pm.If this means "Daylight savings all the time", then I'm all for it. No way I want to give up daylight in the evenings. That's crazy talk.
Standard time, all the time, for me. Freaking love early sunrise. But I'm a nutjob who likes to go out for trail runs at 0530.Correct. The way it is now. I don't need it getting dark before 5pm.
You're Canadian. The rest of don't really expect sanity there.Standard time, all the time, for me. Freaking love early sunrise. But I'm a nutjob who likes to go out for trail runs at 0530.
Yeah, up here the sun rises at 0530 in June. I would beYou're Canadian. The rest of don't really expect sanity there.
if it was up at 0430... I could get a 3hr trail run in and still be home just after 0800!This is the answerMove closer to the equator. (in the winter)
Isn't this the opposite of how spring forward works??I woke up at 530 today. At least I’ll get to bed early and have a good nights rest for Monday.
Indeed it is.I always disliked it...but omg is it so much worse with children.
What a terrible ideaI'd be fine if the whole world was on the same clock.
China agrees. The rest of the world does not.I'd be fine if the whole world was on the same clock. No time zones or DST needed.
I get that, but I really like to run in the morning when the sun is just rising. Running in the dark all winter would suck. Manageable, but I wouldn’t choose it.At this point in my life, it doesn't matter but I'd gladly get behind having permanent dst. Give me the extra hour of daylight to use after work. An extra hour in the morning in the winter during the coldest part of the day does nothing for me.
Would you get out of work early enough to run in the daylight?I get that, but I really like to run in the morning when the sun is just rising. Running in the dark all winter would suck. ETA - I don’t like the time change, and would vote to lose it but there are advantages with it.
Still not a fan of changing but spring time change >>>>>>>>>>> fall time change
What? Another terrible idea. What is people's problems with time zones? Two time zones for the US is all we need.
Yes, but I prefer running in the morning on an almost empty stomach.Would you get out of work early enough to run in the daylight?I get that, but I really like to run in the morning when the sun is just rising. Maine and western Texas (most of it) shouldn’t be in the same time zone.Still not a fan of changing but spring time change >>>>>>>>>>> fall time change
Exactly.
No one hates Daylight Savings Time. What you hate is Standard Time where it's dark early, and the switching. We should be on DST year round.
Altho I'm willing to compromise, the Pacific Time Zone should be on DST year round, the Mountain Time Zone should be combined with it and match Pacific Daylight Time (stays on their standard time), and then the Central and Eastern Time Zones should also be combined into one set two hours behind the Pacific Daylight Time zone (Central Time effectively on permanent DST and Eastern on permanent EST). Two time zones for the US is all we need.
“The annual change from standard time to daylight saving time is associated with increased risk of heart attacks and stroke. There are increased hospital admissions due to atrial fibrillation. There also is an increase in emergency room visits and missed medical appointments. Traffic accidents increase in the first few days after the change from standard time to daylight saving time. The spring and fall time changes also have been associated with mood disturbances and suicide.”Truly don't get all the complaining, have any of you ever flown outside of your time zone and had to adjust for several hours of time difference, this is one freaking hour twice a year, smh.
That's what needs to stay. It's the hour change in the fall that needs to stop.As a golfer don’t you dare touch my extra hour of sun at the end of the day Mar-Oct
Just look at China. It is completely in one time zone and western China is all screwed up.Maine and western Texas (most of it) shouldn’t be in the same time zone.Still not a fan of changing but spring time change >>>>>>>>>>> fall time change
Exactly.

Maybe those people should work on getting healthier vs. blaming these issues on changing the clocks one hour“The annual change from standard time to daylight saving time is associated with increased risk of heart attacks and stroke.
