I have a guy that picked up J. Karney and started him. Now after a quarter of play he wants to drop him and pick up another guy.

Our rules state you can make changes 5 min prior to any kickoff. His argument is that Karney does't play for them and is a free agent so he should be able to drop him and start a new guy. Sportsline has Karney as N.O. kicker so he is locked in right now.

I feel that he picked up Karney to play the saints kicker and its not our fault he has lack of information. To be fair I wanted a nuetral partys opinion.

I thought it might have been sportsline that had an Ask the Commish feature, but I can't find it.

I agree with Bri. Stupidity is an excuse here. Carney is not the Saints' kicker right now, she he shouldn't be locked. You can get in trouble trying to judge intent if a rule is clear.

Agreed. He doesn't play for either team that is playing. Be prepared for the reaction from other owners and send out your reasoning before-hand.

I kinda agree with the guy, But he dropped his other kicker and Karney is the only kicker on his roster. I don't want to set myself up for fixing other moves like this all year long. If he had 2 kickers I could see letting him put the other guy in. But he wants to drop Karney after the game and pick up another kicker. I just don't think that is right. I think I am going to have to go with a painful league vote.

Any other opinions?

youre being a babyhe may be dumb but luckycarney is not on the saints so he is allowed to drop imthat would be like saying he is starting dominic rhodes because he thought he is on the colts but shouldnt be allowed to remove him from the lineup at this pointgive it up and move on

Please clarify one thing...are add/drops locked 5 minutes before each players' game, or 5 minutes before the first game of the week? It makes a huge difference. Im assuming the former.I agree with everyone else..."The Guy" picked up Karney out of ignorance, true, but Sportsline is making a mistake by locking him. Explain to the league that this is not a precedent, the 5 minute rule still stands. Its sportsline's obvious mistake, that is why you are willing to fix it. Also, I try to avoid league votes. The commissioner is supposed to uphold the fairness of the league, whereas each owner is allowed to vote merely on their own self interest.

It's 5 min before each players game. It looks like I am probably going to have to let him pick up another guy.The only thing is sportsline list multiple guys for each team ex. they have at least 4 kickers for Oakland. Thanks for your input

I really don't think you have to worry about setting yourself up for failure. Just follow the black and white of your rules otherwise you set yourself up for failure. If Carney is not on NO's roster what is the problem? All the other stuff is just info that doesn't matter. He is trying to drop a player that has not played, so he should be allowed to do it, according to YOUR rules.

After the game has started, you can't change your kicker. He/she needs to be a little more involved. That's sort of like drafting Vick on draft day when everybody else knew that he wasn't playing. Better luck next week IMO.

Draft team kickers instead of Player names & this problem will never arise again.

Nobody really cares who the kicker is anyway, they draft it based on the team.
