I Wanna Talk About Your Hose (1 Viewer)

Garden hose you weirdos.

Need to buy 180’ of garden hose. So I’m figuring two 100’ sections.

I hate inferior garden hoses. I demand a lot from my hose, so let me know what you have that works. I currently use hoses from Ace hardware and they have been decently reliable.

But I hate the hoses that kink and can’t roll up nice.

What do you got you hosers?

The brand I bought years ago apparently doesn't exist anymore

But I have 2 of these with no issues "shrug"

I was tired of rolling up the old heavy hoses

Good luck with your hose situation

We have a pressure washer which requires at least a medium strength hose. Those 'expand and retract' hoses are far superior in regards to kinking and not having to roll up and put away. The downside is if you forget and leave it out exposed to sunlight, the hose will relatively quickly break and spring leaks. It is convenient but fragile.

I have this stainless steel one that's kind of awesome.

I like the flex hoses, too. But you have to be careful how you lay them out because they can tear if they snag on something.

If you want top quality hoses, go to Eley. It's one of the few companies I'll use and recommend religiously because their products are built for quality and just work.

Their stuff is expensive, but as of right now 15% off which is the best sale you'll ever find from them. Their hose reels are bar none the best manual reels out there. I have two and have bought one as a gift. My oldest has been installed for 7 years or so. Zero leaks, no issues. No rust (aluminum construction). One is installed on the side of the house, and one is on a post. You can easily remove the hose reel and store it inside over winter, but I don't always do that.

Their hoses are awesome. Most any length from 6 feet up to 200 feet. Polyurethane with heavy duty brass fittings. The fittings are a full 5/8" with no restrictions to water flow. They've never kinked on me except when I manually/intentionally kink them to cut off water to replace a hose head or something. These aren't designed to be super-light like a flex hose. They're designed to be durable hoses that will last forever. ETA - I have a 200' hose on my house-mounted reel, so they certainly have the length you need.

Last recommendation - their hose heads and quick-connect fittings are the best I've ever used. Again, heavy-duty, high-flow fittings with no leaks.

If you want to buy once, cry once on hoses, reels and fittings - check them out.

Unrelated but I recently found out that the new slang for hoes is HUZZ. But when Kaniljr told me what huzz meant, he said it mean, "friends, like, the homies". So for weeks I was trying to make him cringe by telling him things like, "When are your huzz coming over?", and "Ryan is in town this weekend so I get to hang out with the huzz". Kaniljr was later having a group of friends over for a board game night and when one of them go here, I asked KanilJr when the rest of the huzz were showing up. They both busted out laughing and his friend told me what that actually meant. Got PLAYED by my 14 year old. Never felt dumber, eff that kid.

PS - I really like the zero g hoses @Ron Swanson mentioned above. I've had mine for about 3 years and love it.

So, with the advice of @gianmarco via personal message with pics I chose this one:

Just got it today. I was skeptical when I first opened the box. The hose looked so puny in the box; shriveled even. NOTHING like the picture I was sent.

That pic was rigid….solid…..with a nice strong stream. The one in the box reminded me of……well………..55 year old me.

I texted Gian and said “Dude. They are gonna deport me out of Wisconsin if I try to whip this out.”

But he stood fast.

“Trust me. Give it a try. It’s not gonna hurt anything.”

Begrudgingly I hooked it up to my sillcock and turned it on. As the hose was filled it began to stiffen up. And at 200’, let me tell you, it took awhile.

I stretched it out the full length and flicked on the provided sprayer. OH MY GOD THE STREAM THAT SHOT OUT OF THERE!!

I tried it on all settings: high power, low and slow, shower, sideways, mist…..the whole bit. I’ll tell you what - I was thrilled with how it released the water in all scenarios.

Gianmarco knows his hoses. No denying it. It’s been a long time - my old hoses were brittle, kinked, and worn out. This one revitalized my hose game.

Highly recommend.

Appreciate the intel. Gian seems to know a lot about hoses and various pressure release techniques.

I read this as grower vs shower at first and thought it was intentionally thrown in there like that.

Glad you found one you enjoy though. A good hose his hard to find. A lot of the time I find they end up with a weird kink and you have to crimp them just right to get rid of it, and let me tell you, crimpin ain't easy.
