I wouldn't want to be Marshawn Lynch... (1 Viewer)

If recent history is any indication of what the Buffalo brass does with it's running backs, I wouldn't want to be Lynch. Travis Henry? Couple good seasons -- GONE. Willis McGahee? Couple decent seasons -- GONE.

I think Lynch can do well, but will we, a few years down the line, be saying the same thing about him? When his rookie contract is up, will they dump him?

Why wouldn't you want to be Marshawn Lynch? Travis Henry had some injury problems that coincided with the drafting of McGahee. He just signed a huge deal with Denver. Not bad. As for McGahee, I have not been impressed with his play. He is about as tough as Ashley Lelie.

I think it is important to note that this is a completely different coaching and front office regime. The Henry and McGahee situations were caused largely by Donahue, and now that he is gone it may be unfair to view the current Bills front office in the same light.

Exactly.I'd wager that if Marv were GM back then, they'd still have Henry, and McGahee would have been a bust for some other team.

Sounds like the Denver RBs.

Smartest thing JU has ever said. Although, I am surprised he didn't work in a "Michael Turner is great" angle....Hmmm.....

At least the smartest thing he's said in the last 6 week since that's all you've been around for. Stick around a while longer and you'll be amazed at what JohnnyU can post. Especially if you're that easily impressed.

Marshawn seems to be more family oriented. He does not care about what Buffalo has to offer. He said as long as there is a phone company for his Mom to work at and a Bingo hall he will be happy, If shes happy.

I don't think that McGahee was a bust. Behind that horrid offensive line not many would have done much better.

 McGahee was a luxury pick that a non-playoff team could ill afford when it had a more than capable RB in Henry. Not only was RB not a position of need, but Donahoe used a first round pick on an RB that wouldn't even play his first year due to injury. It made zero sense at the time, and in hindsight, is one of the reasons the Bills are where they are today. Looking back at that draft, the next player off the board was Dallas Clark. The Bills have had nothing at TE for years, imagine if they drafted Clark instead of McGahee. Or better yet, what if they had "reached" to address a need and made the unsexy pick of taking a guard like Eric Steinbach, who went at the top of the second. At the very least, they could have taken a healthy back that would actually contribute that year (like maybe Larry Johnson, who went 4 picks later). The draft experts may mock Levy and Co. for not getting "value" in the draft, but at least they get the guys they want at positions of need.

Considering there's a decent chance that if Buffalo hadn't taken him, Kansas City would have... :lmao:

Family oriented? He is a millionaire and all he cares about is can his mother still work for the phone company? :lmao:

Yep. The kid looks like a thug but from what I have been reading and watching some interviews he seems to be a class act and complete opposite of McGahee. He is moving his brother and Mom here because he has never been within a few miles away from her.Mama' Lynch = New Chunky Soup Mom.

Travis Henry and Willis McGahee are now undisputed starters with big contracts on teams that will likely make the AFC playoffs. If that's Lynch in five years, I don't think he'll care that he's not in Buffalo.

McGahee <<<< Larry JohnsonAnd, yeah the line could be blamed to an extent, but I think even the biggest Bills homers realized how average McGahee is last year.

I could be wrong, but I think you completely mistook his point..
