IDP M.A.S.H Report (1 Viewer)

With so many injuries worth pinning, we'll try to keep the Sunday early games ACTIVE-INACTIVE-OTHER NEWS updated here this week.

INACTIVE: Rodney Harrison, Ty Warren, Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett, Ray Lewis, Ed Hartwell, Greg Wesley, Derrick Johnson, Ray Edwards, Brian Simmons, Luis Castillo

ACTIVE: Ed Reed, Jimmy Williams, Tamba Hali, David Thornton, Darrion Scott, Orpheus Roye, Shaun Phillips

>>>>>>>

Separate threads for all these guys are welcome but it was a crazy week for injuries. Hopefully most of these are minor, but a couple of them looked or sound pretty bad this AM. Figured a heads-up was warranted for all these guys after flipping through the morning newsrags and seeing name IDP after name IDP set up for the dreaded "more tests today."

Brian Urlacher looked like he was knocked out briefly on a goal line play late in the game, but apparently injured his foot around the same time. He's getting an MRI today to evaluate for ligament damage according to the Chicago Tribune.

Michael Strahan has a sprained foot and will have further tests today according to Newsday and the NY Daily News. The Daily News beat writer raises concerns of a possible Lis Franc injury.

Leigh Bodden has another high ankle sprain and didn't return according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, who are suggesting he'll be out for at least a week.

Gary Brackett strained a hamstring and didn't return last night. No word yet on the severity in the Indianapolis Star.

Rodney Harrison has a shoulder injury of some sort. The Patriots called it an arm injury according to the Boston Globe. Looked like a separated shoulder type injury to me.

The Chiefs lost Tamba Hali (hip injury), Greg Wesley (shoulder injury -- MRI today), and Derrick Johnson (re-aggravated ankle injury) according to the KC Star.

Ian Gold has a hamstring injury and was unable to return to the game; Al Wilson, Nick Ferguson and John Lynch all had a concussion. All will be re-evaluated mid-week according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Luis Castillo has some kind of leg injury and left the locker room in a boot, and apparently Donnie Edwards was okay after returning to the game after hyper-extending his knee but was limping noticeably on his way out according to the SD Union-Tribune.

Nick Collins severely bruised his lower back and didn't return. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel said he was having his kidneys tested, which could mean anything.

Darrion Scott apparently has a high ankle sprain and will have an MRI today according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Shelton Quarles has an ankle injury, discussed in another thread. The Tampa Bay Tribune is saying he didn't return to the game yesterday, which contradicts the Bucs.com report posted in the separate thread.

Miraculously, Bob Sanders escaped unscathed. Although I hear Dan Morgan bumped his head on his fishing boat and is questionable for next week's basket-weaving party.

As a way of organizing things a bit, can we try to get people to post updates in this thread, along with information about potential replacements for those injured players and their prospects? I mean, I know you said separate threads are ok, but could we try to get the info posted here too?

so with all these injuries, what IDP can we expect to expoit these opportunities. DL kiwanuka looks to be on the rise with OSI, strahan and tuck all hurting

i would actually expect strahans injury to adversely affect Kiwi
I would agree with this as well. Nobody is there to take the pressure of Kiwi now and teams will look to focus on him since he is the dangerous one now until Osi or Strahan can get back. Giants front 7 is starting to get horribly thin.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan will be sidelined two to four weeks with a sprained right foot.

Diagnostic tests of Strahan's foot Monday revealed a sprain to the Lis Franc ligament, the team said in a statement.

"This is not an injury that requires surgery," trainer Ronnie Barnes said. "Michael will be on crutches and in a boot for at least the next week. A reasonable timeframe for Michael's possible return would be anywhere from two to four weeks."

New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin was not immediately available for comment. Giants players were off on Monday.

Strahan was injured in the second quarter of the Giants 14-10 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday. He limped off the field.

"Let's not get into that," Strahan said of his playing status after the game. "You gentlemen have a splendid night."

Strahan was wearing a boot on his right foot as he walked away.

The injury could not have happened at a worse time for the Giants (6-2), who are riding a five-game winning streak. All-Pro Osi Umenyiora (hip flexor) and fellow defensive end Justin Tuck (foot) were injured two weeks ago against Dallas and have missed the last two games.

New York also faces an NFC showdown with the Chicago Bears (7-1) at Giants Stadium on Sunday night.

Adrian Awasom, signed off the practice squad two weeks ago, took over for Strahan on Sunday and finished with two tackles.

"It was a shock," Awasom said. "The coach tells us all the time to prepare like you are a starter."

Strahan even offered Awasom some advice.

"He just said, 'Keep putting pressure on. This is your opportunity, take advantage of it,'" Awasom said.

Strahan is half a sack shy of breaking Lawrence Taylor's all-time team record for career sacks. They are tied with 132 1/2, making the 35-year-old Strahan the active leader among NFL players.

Pretty optimistic IMO. Far be it from me to question a trainer, but this isn't a high ankle sprain. Don't be shocked if you hear the words "will have surgery this week" in a couple of weeks.

i agree, people really need to "read" articles when there are words like: Reasonable, Possible, From, Requires* etc...the statement that the injury doesnt "require" surgery is pretty funny and very vague...not required for who? an avg joe? a place holder? one of the things that i have really tried to do is read between the lines this yr

Link audio to Monday Presser is on right sideper Coach Lovie Smith: "Urlacher sprained his big toe, feels better today, hopefully he will feel better and be able to go this week, we'll see how it goes with him"

kiwi had his sack after strahan left and was all over the field

not exactly the same thing as when a team now has a week to game plan against the defense knowing strahan and osi are gonna be out, dont get me wrong KIWI is playing well but i still think that losing strahan will hurt him more then help him

I'm bumping this for an Urlacher report.
No major news -- sounds like a turf toe injury which can be played on depending on pain tolerance. Probably will get more information after Thursday/Friday practices. Reports have been promising though -- he's not immobilized and not on crutches.

Colts MLB Gary Brackett (hamstring) is not expected to play in Week 10.

Rob Morris (questionable, hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday and may split snaps inside with impressive third-round pick Freddie Keiaho.

(KFFL) The Associated Press reports New England Patriots SS Rodney Harrison (shoulder) will not play the team's Week 10 game due to an injured shoulder. Head coach Bill Belichick would not give specifics on the injury or how much more time Harrison will miss due to the injury.

In case anybody hasn't seen it, Harrison has a broken scapula and is probably done for the rest of the IDP regular season and probably finished for the NFL regular season as well.

I won't believe this until it is confirmed by Belichick. ;)

The latest news on Quarles as the Ruud watch continues

Buccaneers | Quarles could miss Week 10

Thu, 9 Nov 2006 18:41:08 -0800

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers LB Shelton Quarles (knee, ankle) could miss the Week 10 game and is questionable.

(KFFL) San Diego Chargers DL Luis Castillo (ankle) missed practice Thursday, Nov. 9, and could miss the Week 10 game. DL Jacques Cesaire would replace Castillo if he is unable to play.

To add Chargers info, LB D Edwards is NOT even listed on the injury report after that hit last week!!!!

Saturday updates to the original post.

Brian Urlacher practiced Friday and looks likely to play.

Gary Brackett is very unlikely to play tomorrow. Rob Morris took the bulk of the snaps with the first team, but Freddy Keiaho will see time as well.

Derrick Johnson is out this weekend; Keyaron Fox will start in his place. Greg Wesley and Tamba Hali are expected to go.

Ian Gold is out and Nate Webster will fill in at WLB. Al Wilson, Nick Ferguson and John Lynch have recovered from concussions enough to play.

Luis Castillo is out this week. Donnie Edwards looks to be fine.

Darrion Scott looks to be a game time decision. He didn't practice all week so he's probably out.

Not much official news on Shelton Quarles but he didn't practice all week. The Bucs play Monday Night but it reads like the extra day and a half won't help Quarles.

In other news, Ellis Wyms, Brandon Short, and James Farrior do not look likely to play. Simeon Rice, Karlos Dansby, Ed Reed, Darrent Williams, and Jimmy Williams do look likely to play. Jordan Babineaux is a game time decision.

Bob Sanders?

Jene,

a friendly suggestion. Why not put the up-to-the-minute updates like you had in your last post up into the original post so that they're always at the top. We can of course continue to discuss them in the thread as usual, but that might be helpful.

This is a great thread. Let's keep this bumped.

Brian Urlacher is active for tonight's game.

Half the Giant defense (Strahan, Umenyiora, Tuck, Short, and Emmons) is INACTIVE.
