IDP Snap Count? (1 Viewer)

Anyone know of a service that provides snap counts for each defensive player (or am I blind and FootballGuys does)? I think it would be as informative as WR targets. How about DB "targets" or "thrown at" stats?

:own3d: to the Forum.FBG does not have a database for what you're looking for unfortunately. For now, we're limited to a few sources, to my knowledge. Pro Football Focus has added a player participation page to the game pages this year. They're a small operation, so they run significantly behind in some weeks, but you can get a snap-by-snap record of who was on the field and at what approximate position there. Aside from that, unless you happen across a particularly industrious beat writer (Mike Reiss will sometimes does snap counts for the Pats) or are someone with connections to FootballOutsiders and their game charting project like Ron Jaworski, you have to wait until well into the next offseason. FootballOutsiders will publish whatever some of the data in their ProFootballProspectus each July. For the past three seasons, they've published target data for all linebackers and defensive backs (above a certain threshold). KC Joyner and his FootballScientist series may publish some of that data, too. I believe he may have an inseason database, but I haven't subscribed to know for sure. He also publishes an offseason book with some of what you're interested in.I think FO has snap count data in their raw game charting data. That's available at some point after the season for a sizable fee, but isn't sorted in any user friendly manner. The NFL keeps player participation data as well, but closely guards it inseason to prevent other teams from getting the information easily. We've discussed an extensive defensive game charting project at FBG, but the manpower and expertise necessary to do it well is beyond the scope of what we can do. None of us hardcore defensive fans would disagree that there are lots of data that we'd love to get our hands on in a quick and user-friendly format inseason.
