IDP Ultimate Survivor Leg - 1A - Tackle Heavy (1 Viewer)

Sun Tzu

Footballguy
We're off and running. LT2, Westbrook, ADP and Addai with the first four picks so far. Let's start the discussion for the draft and the rest of the season.

I went with LT2 because, in a re-draft league, there's no one else I'd rather have with 1.01. Unlike dynasty leagues, there's no concerns about age with him since he hasn't reached 30 yet. As for concerns about injury . . . he says the torn MCL is healed and, damnit, he'd better be telling the truth. :goodposting:

I'm hoping that a healthy LT2 gives me a head start on staying on the island at least the first week but I know he starts slow.

Best of luck, fellas.

just a heads up to everyone, i did not receive an email update of the draft status so I made my pick when i checked at lunch. I went to Franchise Setup, Advanced and clicked the box for Draft Status updates. hopefully i will receive updates from here on out....

you all might want to check your setup to see if you have clicked that box...

I work from home most of the time, only go into the office on Thursdays. I'll have the website up pretty much all the time, but won't always have an eyeball on it.

Had to grab 2 RBs at the 12/13 swing. Would rather take my shots getting a QB or good WRs than having to take a shot getting a RB with the next swing picks. Happy with MJones-Drew and Lynch.

Okay Pretender, your really teasing us IDP'ers takin' Willis that early :)
With tackle heavy Willis will put up a ton of points - he wouldn't last long. David Harris went right behind. Trying to stay ahead of the curve and throw a few surprises into this draft :football: ETA - will get more pts from Willis I believe with this pick than a WR or a RB.

Willis is a freak. He did all that last year with a broken hand, and the 49ers still stink, he'll be on the field all the time.

Basically cast my fate with the 4th round McFadden pick. This pick sort of decided my next two picks, and will pay off only if I get some value when it creeps back to me in the 6th. If I get a guy I like there, I will be fine with the risk.

was hoping for Westy at 4, but in PPR I knew the odds were slim despite Westy's injuries. Really happy to get Maroney in the 2nd, just liked the fact he's on a good offense with a good line. I think I would of been reaching a little too far for any other back at that point. 3rd I wanted Brees and thought he would be there, not sure if Shockey trade bumped him up some? Prob the fact it's a QB-heavy league probably made him go slightly earlier. 4th pick I was hoping for Brandon Marshall, but I'm happy with Burress. Happy with the results so far.

oh yeah, this draft rocks!!! Nice to get 4 picks in on the first day

Nobody's faulting you for making that pick. We're just a little salty we didn't land Willis ourselves.

1.07 RB Frank Gore

2.06 RB Larry Johnson

3.07 WR Chad Johnson.

4.06 RB Jamal Lewis

5.07 WR Calvin Johnson

I don't see how Jamal Lewis can be available in round 4 in any league. But I'll gladly take him. :excited:

I know everyone always likes their teams...but...I really like my team.

I also love the fast pace of this draft. It makes it much more enjoyable and easier to focus.

I'm OK with the draft so far. Waiting 22 picks between my own is terrible with this school of sharks.

Yeah, I actually love my spot at #3, allowed me to get a stud RB, and later in the draft, can wait on players depending on why you and Amit have on your teams.Went RB earlier than I wanted to, but hopefully Fred taylor can give me one more year of consistency to help out in this format.

Love the ADP pick at 1.03 and Run-DMC pick at 4.10. As for Freddie, one of the things I love about re-draft is the ability to select a player regardless of age as long as you believe in their productivity for four months.

Feeling pretty solid about the team. I knew I wanted 2 decent QBs, in this format, bad QB play is gonna sink someone, I didn't want it to be me.

Ummm, yeah, the Al Harris pick? Well, let's just say that AJ Hawk's name is right next to Al Harris' name on the MFL Packer draft page. :goodposting:

Well, at least this is a CB-required league. I just took him 15 rounds too early.

:bag:

Well, at least this is a CB-required league. I just took him 15 rounds too early.
 I almost did that, can't recall the player, but caught it right before I hit the submit button. I double and triple check now.

He is as good as any of the remaining WRs and we can use a flex. I should have killer TE numbers most weeks, plus a safety net flex sometimes.

10.06 QB Aaron Rodgers

11.07 QB Eli Manning

19.07 QB Trent Edwards

16.06 LB Shawne Merriman

18.06 LB Freddie Keiaho

14.06 DB Gibril Wilson

17.07 DB Bob Sanders

The last few picks:

Merriman was a player I wanted even in a tackle heavy league. His ability to put up huge numbers half the time works well in best ball.

Bob Sanders is in my top 5 DBs and with Gibril Wilson, my safeties are the best in the league.

Freddie Keiaho is very undervalued but comes with a risk because of his injury history. He was on pace for a top 15 season and about 95 solos before being hurt, so he has a ton of upside. I made out here if he stays healthy.

I think 3 QBs is a must in this format. You just can't afford to come up with a zero at QB and with both of my QBs having bye, I wanted someone that I think will safely be a starter. Edwards is not the greatest, but I think he is solidly entrenched in the starter's role. I may have taken Tarvaris Jackson instead, but he has a week 8 bye and so does Rodgers. I want to have at least 2 QBs in all 8 weeks.

All in all, I love my RBs, WRs, TEs and safeties. QB is fair but deep. DL, only one so far. No CBs, DTs, or kickers yet. LBs are in line with what I expected since I have waited.

So far, I think I have gotten good value throughout and there are no picks yet that I regret.

I think you've had 2 really, really good value picks fall to you with Gonzo and Bob Sanders. Could have had Sean Jones, LaRon Landry and Bob Sanders.

The last few picks:

Tamba Hali and Dewayne White are both solid top 20 DEs and make a nice threesome with Peppers.

Morris as my RB4 was a good pick before the Patriots signed Jordan; now his role is up in the air.

Wilhelm is a solid LB5

Barber is my first CB taken and has a late bye. If he returns to form, it's a great pick.

Laurent Robinson is a good WR5 in the 25th round. Followed up with Arnaz Battle in the 26th. I like him a lot in this format. He is certain to have a few big games.

I added Nate Kaeding with the 27.07 pick. I normally would not take a kicker this early, but I wanted one top kicker without a bye week. Folk was gone and Kaeding is the only other top kicker I liked without a bye.

My team thus far:

Hasselback

Cutler

Grossman

Troy Smith

Not really a big fan of these QBs, but in this format, as a group, I like them. I think one or two teams might get bounced from his format for lack of QBs once the injury bug shows up, and I didn't want just two of them.

Adrian Peterson

Darren McFadden

Fred Taylor

Ahmad Bradshaw

Pretty boom or bust. If All Day stays healthy, I am cool. Taylor is a solid 3rd RB in this format, I think his consistency will cover quiet weeks by other players. With Bradshaw, I am just waiting patiently for a Jacobs ouchie. Not very deep here, but I didn't want to waste too many roster spots on backs that need a break to get in the lineup. I wanted as many guys as possible to be playing every week, so I passed on Torain and a few others.

Braylon Edwards

Marques Colston

Kevin Curtis

Ted Ginn

Demetrius Willims

I love my receivers. I think Curtis is going to have some monster games, and Ginn and Williams are two favorites of mine. Probably took Ginn too early, but as solid as my starters and TEs are, I could afford to gamble a bit.

Kellen Winslow

Zach Miller

Ben Watson

I debated the Miller pick, because he has the same bye as KWill, but I also knew people were waiting, and waiting, on tight ends. So I figured I could get a decent 3rd guy. Took Watson over Marcedes, I like the possibility of big games rom him, and we can start 2 TEs, which is big. Once the WRs dried up, the value was at TE, and I think I may wind up with two TEs in my lineup fairly often.

Aaron Kampmann

Osi Umenyiora

I knew I was gonna go DE early. It is so much harder to predict the next 10 sack guy, than it is to grab sleepers at LB and DB, so so I didn't want to get caught without solid DEs. There just aren't 24 DES that I like. haven't taken a backup yet, but I have a sleeper in mind. Picking are real slim at this position right now.

AJ Hawk

DeMarcus Ware

Julian Peterson

James Harrison

Dhani Jones

Justin Durant

Guys like Jones and Durant are why I waited on LB so long. I missed out on the top 10 guys, but I ahve some guys that will have monster game, like Ware and Peterson, and I think Jones will give me consistency. Durant fell really far, and even though Jax doesn't produce a lot of fantasy stars, I think he winds up leading the team in tackles.

Al Harris------Yep, took him by accident. Funny thing is, he'll probably run back two picks for scores. CBs are a dime a dozen, I'm not worried about this.

Kerry Rhodes

Rodney Harrison

Donte Whitner

I like Whitner's game-to-game production. He didn't have huge games, but had nice tackle numbers almost every game. Rhodes is a monster, IMO. Harrison will either have some big games, or get hurt. As a Harrison hater, that's win/win.

28.06 LB Omar Gaither: The last LB in the tier that I liked. Very good for a LB6. 29.07 K Adam Vinatieri: Nothing excited me at this pick, so I decided to add Vinatieri to Kaeding and will enjoy the best kicker tandem in the league.

My team so far. Nothing great IMO, good LBs, RB depth, WRs are weak. Got the PK I wanted. Brown in a dome should be nice.

A few hours later:

Antwan Odom carted off the field this morning, later seen on crutches with a boot.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Bengals couldn't get out of the first practice of the season Monday morning without suffering what appeared at first blush to be a major injury.

Right end Antwan Odom, the richest free-agent in Bengals' history, hobbled away from the complex on crutches with ice strapped to his left foot, which was in a boot.. No report was immediately issued and head coach Marvin Lewis said only he had gone for tests.

Cincinnati Enquirer blog

GEORGETOWN, KY. -- Toward the end of this morning's practice, high-priced defensive end Antwan Odom was taken off the field in a cart. He sustained a left ankle injury, and later left the locker room on crutches with his left ankle in a protective.

"I don't know," he said when asked about his condition. "I'm going to find out now."

Cripes.

mass, I drafted Demorrio Williams as my LB6 only to find out that a couple of hours later that Derrick Johnson was moved to the weakside. :goodposting: At least I didn't pull the double whammy and draft Landon Johnson thinking he was going to be the weakside LB in Carolina . . .

Every day that goes by, his chances for punishment by the NFL decrease greatly. That said, I wouldnt be shocked to see 1-2 game suspension.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, steel.
We're all going to have issues before it's over. :goodposting: It's alot easier to deal with injury losses than these off-field acts that land them in spectator mode. :excited:

I partnered up with a friend/competitor from my dynasty league. (I always have to worry about him draftin’ my guys, so I knew we would work well together). Thanks Bruce!

Our strategy … draft as many good players as we could from the 9/10 bye weeks, but don’t reach too much for them. We came away with 20 … 21 if Favre lands in Tampa Bay.

QB Jake Delhomme CAR 9

Phillip Rivers SD 9

Brett Favre

We should be okay here, was hoping Favre goes somewhere, we were expecting him to eventually land in Tampa when we drafted him. If this happens, barring injury, we’ll have 3 QB’s every week.

RB Marion Barber III DAL 10

Ronnie Brown MIA 4

Jonathan Stewart CAR 9

Warrick Dunn TB 10

Lorenzo Booker PHI 7

Tashard Choice DAL 10

Have some question marks here with Brown and Stewart. Wanted to get DeAngelo Wiliams, but missed out. Plan was to handcuffed Barber with Choice. Should anything happen to Westbrook, we could have gold in Booker.

WO Terrell Owens DAL 10

Lee Evans BUF 6

Joey Galloway TB 10

David Patten NO 9

Mushin Muhammad CAR 9

Brandon Stokley DEN 8

Drew Carter OAK 5

We like our top 3, depth may be a problem. Drafted Patten @ 21.08 with the intentions of coming right back in 22.05 and getting Meachem. Eraser foiled those plans taking Meachem @ 21.09. We like Carter as a possible sleeper. Having a dynasty mentality, it was difficult to take five 30 something WO’s. ;)

TE Antonio Gates SD 9

Alex Smith TB 10

Took Gates a bit earlier than we probably should have. We liked Witten, but already had Barber and Owens and wanted to mix it up a bit. Hopefully Gates will be GTG. Smith fit in well with our hopes of Favre going there and the bye.

PK Nick Folk DAL 10

Like TE, we took this position a little early, but wanted to be sure we got Folk and his 10 bye in case we were unable to get another kicker, which turned out to be the case. Really wanted to get a 2nd kicker, needed 39 rounds.

DE Terrell Suggs BAL 10

Will Smith NO 9

Bobby McCrary NO 9

Like PK, we would like to have drafted another DE. At least none sit and we have Smith handcuffed. Really like McCray’s upside.

DT Corey Williams CLE 5

Tommie Harris CHI 8

We have a DE in Williams, and a very good tackle in Harris, who is healthy this year.

Pretender took both our targets (Haye and Dockett)

LB Ray Lewis BAL 10

Ernie Sims DET 4

Chad Greenway MIN 8

Curtis Lofton ATL 7

Thomas Davis CAR 9

Another area we would have liked to added one more. Waited too long for Bradie James and missed out. Sims gave us a scare the other day. We’re really banking on Lofton starting out of the box. The timing was right when the news broke Davis was moving to “Will”.

S Sean Jones CLE 5

LaRon Landry WAS 10

Darren Sharper MIN 8

Mike Brown CHI 8

We feel pretty good about our safeties. We reached past Sanders to get Landry for the bye, then AB nailed Bob Sanders right in front of us on our next pick, or we would have had Jones, Landry and Sanders. Sharper is solid and Brown is the epitome of high risk/high reward. Didn’t like having Sharper and Brown on the same bye, but couldn’t resist the upside on Brown.

CB Brandon Flowers KC 6

Antrel Rolle ARI 7

Charles Godfrey CAR 9

Leodis McKelvin BUF 6

Brian Kelly DET 4

We had a plan and we executed it, the question is, will it pan out. We got 2 rookie corners and 2 free safeties in Rolle and Godfrey. We really liked Flowers and may have taken him a little early, but we knew Norton liked him also. Banking on Brian Kelly winning the starting job opposite of Bodden. We could be really good here, or really bad. :scared:

Thanks ya’ll for making this a fun, lightning fast draft. Good Luck … Stay Healthy!
