IF Blount is out, which TB RB? (1 Viewer)

Looks like there's Earnest Graham or Allen Bradford.

Graham looks to be next in line to get carries, but could we maybe see Bradford take the starting job if Blount's injury is more serious?

Bradford seems more comparable in terms of size and speed (I believe they actually timed almost identical in the 40 and short cone, etc). So it would be interesting to see what Bradford might bring to the team. Lumpkin seems to be a tease. He always looks like he is going to carve out a role but then gets hurt or something. I believe they really like Graham as a basher.

What exactly is the latest on Blount (or is this just a guess based on him not returning yesterday)?

Latest on Blount is vague. Raheem Morris doesn't know if blount will be out a while.

Graham is a great pass blocker as well . . .
Exactly 66 and they are playing NO on the road his week so you can bet Graham is going to be leaned on a lot. He was getting a lot of targets before 2 weeks ago. I would expect 12-15 points in a PPR format.
Game is in TB.
Won't make a difference, Greg Williams will bring the house and test the Bucs pass protection. They won't trust Allen Bradford to start against the Saints. I think he'll get some touches but likely when he is in the Bucs will be running which makes things easier for New Orleans on defense. Graham can take carries out of the shotgun, h was getting plenty of targets until the last 2 weeks, he'll be the starter against New Orleans.Graham was pushing Blount in preseason and was had glowing camp reports. Bradford stumbled quite a bit. I wrote a thread on Bradford right after the end of the college season last year. I said he was like Blount but he hasn't done much to this point.

Sounds good for us Blount owners.

As Bucs fans collectively hold their breath wondering whether LeGarrette Blount can wear a helmet Sunday, Jeff Faine offered encouraging words this evening.

“I’m feeling like we should see him out there Sunday … based on how he was acting [after the game.] Faine said on WQYK-AM 1010 to J.P. Peterson.

Faine went on to remind listeners that he’s not a medical professional and explain that Blount was walking around like all was well as the team traveled home San Francisco. An official update on Blount will come from the Bucs tomorrow.

Frankly, Joe isn’t the least bit curious what the Bucs would look like without Blount. Joe saw enough of that nightmare when Cadillac Williams grinded out 2 1/2 yards a carry last year.

did anyone ever find out what exactly the injury was? I'm thinking a contusion based on his possibility of coming back this week but everything says the general statement "knee injury" which could be anything.

The St. Petersburg Times reports the "sense" at Bucs headquarters is that LeGarrette Blount (knee) will not play in Week 6.

It's the sense we've gotten too, because Blount took a hard helmet to the knee in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and couldn't return. He wasn't made available to speak to reporters Wednesday morning. 31-year-old third-down back Earnest Graham will try to pick up most of the slack, but ultimately the Bucs probably won't have much rushing success against the Saints. Kregg Lumpkin and sixth-round rookie Allen Bradford are alternatives at tailback.

I'm a Blount owner and I'd actually prefer him to sit out this week and fully recover from whatever the hell injury he has. This is an awful matchup for him since the Bucs will most likely fall behind meaning hurry-up without Blount anyway. Maybe I'm rationalizing but it seems like Graham without Blount is a better start than Blount. I can see Lumpkin getting a decent amount of playing time but it seems like Graham is who they trust in the no-huddle.

Did not practice at all today: http://www.tampabay.com/blogs/bucs/content/bucs-injury-update-mccoy-blount-stocker-absent-practice

Bucs injury update: McCoy, Blount, Stocker absent from practice

The Bucs have begun today's workout here at One Buc Place, and there is very little positive news on the injury front.

Missing from today's workout are defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (ankle), running back LeGarrette Blount (knee) and tight end Luke Stocker (knee). Linebacker Quincy Black is in attendance, though it remains to be seen whether he performs all the day's tasks or is limited by his ankle injury.

Regarding McCoy and Blount, both injured on Sunday against the 49ers, the Bucs are proceeding as if neither will be in the lineup on Sunday against the Saints.

To that end, they are making preparations to play without them. Defensive end Da'Quan Bowers is going to be taking snaps at defensive tackle because of the loss of McCoy. Meanwhile, Earnest Graham is preparing to take the majority of snaps at running back.

I'll take the over. The Bucs are reeling right now and I see a lot of check downs while they play from behind early.
Ok, but Graham got no garbage time dumpoffs in SF.http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/gametracker/live/NFL_20111009_TB@SFLooks great on paper.

Did not practice today either.

With a bye in week 8, and unable to practice this week, gut feeling is they'll hold him out next week too and give him a full 3 weeks before suiting up again.

Report: LeGarrette Blount to miss several weeks with MCL sprain

Posted by Mike Florio on October 13, 2011, 5:30 PM EDT

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Blount is tackled by San Francisco 49ers Willis during the first quarter of their NFL football game in San Francisco Reuters

The Bucs have kept a pretty tight lid on the status of running back LeGarrette Blount. And that approach is fully within the rules; all any team has to disclose about its players is injured whether and to what extent they practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday (or Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for the Monday night participants), and ultimately whether they are out, doubtful, questionable, or probable to play.

On Wednesday, the team disclosed that Blount didn’t participate in practice due to a knee injury. In his Thursday press conference, coach Raheem Morris indicates, vaguely, that Blount didn’t practice.

According to J.P. Peterson of WQYK-AM 1010 in Tampa (via JoeBucsFan.com), Blount will miss “several weeks” with a Grade 2 MCL sprain. The injury happened during a 48-3 blowout loss to the 49ers.

Earnest Graham is expected to assume the role of the No. 1 tailback in Blount’s absence. The Bucs face the Saints on Sunday.

Report: Bucs RB Blount has MCL Grade 2 tear J.P. Peterson of WQYK-AM 1010 in Tampa reports LeGarrette Blount has a MCL Grade 2 tear.An MCL tear can leave a player sidelined anywhere from 2-6 weeks. Peterson hears that Blount is out "at least a few weeks," which means he won't be available through the Week 8 bye. The timetable isn't much different from the St. Petersburg Times report that Blount's status is already in question for Week 7. At this point, we wouldn't expect to see him before Week 9. Hold off on adding Kregg Lumpkin in all but the deepest of leagues.

I guess I'm in the deepest of leagues because I just went and added Lumpkin in as many as I could.Someone else came in 2 mins later and added Kareem Huggins. I wonder if they're aware he isn't on the team or know something I don't.

Wonder why they say that? Some reports (I think rotoworld) are saying Blount could be out as much as 6 weeks (sorry I don't have a link). Graham is 31 years old and already handling 3rd down duties.Kregg Lumpkin seems like a good add to me.

These are all dynasty leagues with 300+ players owned where Graham was rostered.I do think Lumpkin could be more valuable if Blount is out past the bye though.

Any homers know anything about this Mossis Madu speed guy?

There seems to be potential here with a possible 6 week time table for Blount. You can't rush a 250 pound power runner back from a knee injury.

This week only, Graham makes a decent to strong play in PPR leagues. Freeman is checking down more than ever, and they will be playing catchup all game long. Look for the Bucs run game to be limited at first and later abandoned, but that just creates a recipe of pitch and catch to Graham on multiple consecutive plays.

I think the Lumpkin speculation will die off soon. The Bucs are rumored to be clearing up space to trade for a RB in the next few days according to local radio reports.

I know its been said he is a speed guy but he is not a speed guy. But I like his running in a zone scheme.
