Palmer sounds like he won't play or will play for about a series or two.Has Kitna been getting the snaps with the #1 offense this week and will he get the start/majority of work? Thanks.

Where did you hear that Palmer won't play or will be limited? If I recall correctly, the Bengals still have a somewhat meaningful game to play as the Patriots are still gunning for the No. 3 seed.

Im starting Delhomme over Palmer this week. I have a feeling we wont see much of Palmer. Yes Marv Lewis has said he wants to go into the playoffs playing better, but Palmer tweaked his groin last week and I think Lewis would rather have a healthy QB going into the playoffs. He wants to win this week but its not the end of the season if they dont.Besides, Kitna can run that offense to a T. I think he will start Palmer and let him get into a bit of a rythm and then pull him out.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Carson Palmer (CIN) has signed an extension with the team and now has a contract through the 2014 season. It's not known how much he'll play but it's looking like he might be very limited if he plays at all. Duh - look at Tennesee who's going with Mauch instead of Volek. That's why I started a thread for this.

I had not seen anything definitive, which is why I asked.Am I also incorrect in thinking that this game still had meaning for the Bengals? Can't the Patriots overtake them for the No. 3 seed this weekend?

Pat's win and Bengals lose, then the Pats get #3 and play the Steelers. Meanwhile the Bengals get the Jags. Who is the real "loser" in that equation?

Answer: Whoever has to play the Colts in the second round.

I don't think any of the AFC playoff teams fear the Colts at this point. They will have their hands full with any of those 4 teams in the first round.

I think the Bengals would rather lose this week and not have the Steelers come to Cincy in the first round.

I find that hard to believe. I can't imagine that ANY coach is thinking that they'd rather lose than win a game.

I agree. I can't see Marvin and the Bengals not playing their best in Week 17, regardless of whom they'll face in the first round.

Carson Palmer: Misses Practice; Still Probable RotoWire.com Staff - RotoWire.comThursday, December 29, 2005Update: Palmer (groin) missed another practice Thursday, though he remains probable on the injury report, according to the team's official site. Recommendation: Each day Palmer doesn't work with the team - he also rested Wednesday - suggests Jon Kitna is one day closer to starting at quarterback in Kansas City Sunday. The Bengals need a win or a Patriot loss to hold the No. 3 seed in the conference, but it's not all that clear if Cincinnati cares about that difference in seeding, at least when you balance that against the risk of exposing Palmer.

Palmer practices; no word on starter

By Mark Curnutte

Enquirer staff writer

Quarterback Carson Palmer participated in the 11-on-11 segment of practice this afternoon, coach Marvin Lewis said of the Bengals quarterback.

In fact, Palmer practiced the previous two days, Lewis said, though the official injury report listed Palmer as not practicing.

Lewis would not say if Palmer or backup Jon Kitna would start Sunday at Kansas City in the season finale.

It appears that Pro Bowl cornerback Deltha O’Neal will not play. He was downgraded to doubtful today and did not practice for the third consecutive day.

Rookie wide receiver Chris Henry returned to practice after missing Thursday with an illness. He remained probable. Tight end Reggie Kelly (wrist) remained questionable but did practice today.

Good news for special teams was the upgrade of linebacker Marcus Wilkins (hand) to probable. He did practice.
