IF IF Ronnie Brown stays healthy.... (1 Viewer)

Ya this is a fluff piece, but.....

If he continues on this pace then he'll finish as a Top 5 RB. However, with his injury history would it be enough to pull the trigger on in the first round of a redraft next year? I play in keeper leagues but i like to gauge value of players NOW.

I would have Ronnie close to the first Round or very near the top of the 2nd.

He has always had the talent....

Not to mention he plays in an offense that centers around him in the Wildcat. If for some reason they went away from the Wildcat, i still think the value is there because he could go back to a more a traditional role and we all know he has excellent hands.

I think he does.

Pushes out the likes of LT and Jacobs (if things remain in that run game the way it has started). IMO.

Absolutely pushes LT out. Even if LT somehow turns his season around, he still cannot be trusted to go a full 16 next year. Jacobs could recoup some value, but he wasn't a first rounder in 2009, imo. I think these guys are locks to be in next years 1st round (again, redraft style) AP, MJD, Gore, Chris Johnson and SJax. However, aside from that, i dont see a whole bunch of RB names that say, "I gotta have him over Ronnie"I suppose a guy like Knowshon could emerge down the stretch into an elite. But im not buying the Forte's, Portis and Ray Rice's of the RB landscape. Dwill is stil a really tough call for me. I just cant read the situation yet. Was last year a fluke? Probably not, but the TD total might have been. Would I take him ahead of Ronnie? I dont know, but I'm leaning towards No right now.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you own Ronnie.. perhaps just traded for him?

Take a look at his 1st half vs 2nd half TD splits over the last few years.

He's worth a late 1st round pick but Ricky williams keeps him out of early/mid first round consideration for me. Anytime a back is barely seeing 50% of the rushing touches on his team, it's REALLY hard to consider him a 1st round back.

Now... assume Ricky's gone next year or Ronnie earns a bigger piece of the pie somehow? Certainly at the LEAST a mid-first round pick.

Ive actually owned him for a few years and I am excited about his potential again. I had him in 07 when he was blowing up, but then the injury occured. Im not trying to gloss this over into a rate my player thing. I want to see where he is at in the minds of posters for the next 3 years or so. The Top 250 forward PPR has him about 6 overall for RB;s and I think that is about right. i was hoping to garner a little more discussion.

Ricky is signed through next year.

Ronnie is a FA after this year - I'm guessing they franchise him.

Even with Ricky in the picture RB is a 1st rd pick IF he stays healthy.

In PPR I see him landing in the 2nd round.

I think his future value heavily depends on what happens with his contract. He's only under contract through 2009, and they did just sign Ricky to another year for 4.5 million.

I think they would be fools to let him go, but I could see it happening..

Ronnie's agent said the Dolphins will have one of the highest paid RB's in the league next year, and if the don't, Ronnie will be elsewhere. The right change of scenery could increase his value.

Splits happen, and Ricky's 32. Also, rumors of Ronnie Brown's injury history have been greatly exaggerated.Ronnie's a first rounder next year. Heck, I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow if someone took him in the first THIS year (I had him rated as a very early 2nd rounder).

I agree that at this point I would put him in the late first round. For him to go any higher, it would depend on the Dolphins doing something about their

passing offense, either the QB, the WR or the play calling. Without some sort of change to get the 8th man out of the box, the Dolphins will struggle to run

the ball against good defenses.

Miami is beginning to remind me of KC of years past, only with a slightly better OL.

Teams should begin to figure out the Wildcat soon enough, but it's only a matter of time until Ronnie passes out of that formation.

There's nothing to "figure out". It's fundamentally sound football, just like the WCO. You can defend it, but you can't ever shut it down completely.Edit: and I question whether *ANY TEAM* within the past 30 years has had a better offensive line than the early-to-mid 2000s Chiefs. That line was just absurd.
