I love Priest Holmes, but I think he needs another year to convince enough people. And if he plays two more and can maintain this level, he would be an absolute lock. Or: if KC somehow gets to the SB this or next year, that would also boost his chances quite a bit.I think talent-wise, he definitely should be considered at least worthy of being mentioned with many HOFers, he just needs to put in a little more time. Yes, he has a great line to run behind, but most HOF RBs did, also. And if you watch Holmes play consistently, there's no way you can really think he isn't hands down the best RB in recent NFL history. He uses his blockers better than any RB I've ever seen. Guys like Sanders just tried to break peoples ankles all day, and eventually he'd bust a few long ones that made Sportscenter and jack up his yardage. Holmes running the ball is like a sped up game of chess, where his pawns are the blockers. He's incredibly consistent. He just plays brilliant football. His vision, cuts, fantastic use of blockers...it's beautiful to watch him work. This is all, of course, excluding his work ethic, ability to play through pain and injury, amazing stiff arm (best in the league?), now infamous leaping abilities...I mean the guy is just the best we have in the league right now.LdT is great, and may one day surpass him, but right now I just don't see him do the kind of stuff that Holmes does.
