If the 8 remaining team played each other . . . (1 Viewer)

Obviously hypotehetical, but let's say each remaining team plays a game against each of the teams still in contention. Sort of a Round Robin tourney. Each team would play 7 games, so what would the records of all the teams be when they were done?

(I originally had seeded the teams and higher seeds played at home. Instead, let's make it fair and all the games are played at a neutral site and there are no seeds or home field advantage. And while we are at it, let's say the game is played indoors so the weather and the cold are not factors either.

So SD gets to play all 7 games at home while Sea has to play all 7 on the road!?!?!

Yes. That's how it would work in the "real" playoffs.

I think so.

The real playoffs would be sending teams home every week and thus not allowing 7 straight home games vs 7 striaght away games though. I don't see how this could remotly be fair.Given that situation however. The only thing I'm sure of is that Sea would likely loose every game....

OK, jurb, we'll do it your way . . .

Do it whichever way you want. GB the team that gets play Sea, Philly or NO after a 4-6 game guantlet like that on the road though! :yucky:

Keep to to a neutral site with all the teams there so there is no travel or anything "unfair.' Bottom line, if everyone played eveyone else, what would their records be?

Just out of curiosity, DY, is there supposed to be a difference between what records we would give them team vs. how we simply ranked the teams?

Just trying to figure out which teams might match up better and win vs some teams and not others. So in a one and done setting (like this weekend), the Pats might lose against SD, but playing all the teams they might in some minds win more games against the field and end up with more wins than the Chargers. It may wind up that people assign the number of wins similar to how they would seed them, but some people might feel that the Eagles are "hot" and win more or that the Bears are "cold" and lose a lot more games.

1. SD (6-1): 4-0 against the NFC, loss to the Ravens, close win against NE, beat IND.

2. CHI (2-5): 0-4 against the AFC, rout SEA, close win against the Saints, close loss to PHI

3. BAL (6-1): 4-0 against the NFC, beat NE and SD, close loss to IND

4. IND (4-3): losses to SD, NE, and NO, wins against BAL and the rest of the NFC

5. NE (5-2): 4-0 against the NFC, beat IND, close loss to SD, lose to BAL

6. NO (2-5): Beat SEA and IND

7. PHI (2-5): Beat Chi and SEA

8. SEA (0-7)

Are these teams at full strength? Or do injuries effecting them currently still apply?

Seattle is much better with a healthy DJax, NE with Harrison, etc.

Assume that all games would be played this weekend, so whoever could go would go and whoever was out was out. I know that it would be impossible to play 7 games in a day, but just assume that each game is played with rosters currently AS IS and that the teams don't get tired or worn down in playing their next game.

Would these be considered playoff games? More significantly, would Peyton Manning be informed these were playoff games?

If not, Indy would 6-1. If so, Indy is 2-5.

nice one. I dont have much time today, but i do like this topic. I definitely think New England would do much better against Bmore than against San Diego and Indy. San diego i feel would have a harder time against baltimore than against NE and Indy. Hopefully i can get some time later to look at this closer.Maybe a home and away round robin would be the most fair

having all games indoors would give the Colts a huge advantage imo. I think it should be a random. If my math is correct, there will be 28 games played- play them all in different NFL stadiums with the one rule being that no team would ever play at home.

SD: 5 - 2

BAL 5 - 2

NE: 5 - 2

CHI: 4 - 3

IND: 3 - 4

NO: 3 - 4

PHI: 2 - 5

SEA: 1 - 6

I don't think any team will be able to go 7 & 0 or even 6 & 1. Competition is too tough between most of these. The only team that can't really hang in Seattle. I don't know how the Seahawks are still alive & neither do they. Maybe they put it together to win one game in this format.

best of group: San Diego at 5 - 2

Worst of group: Seattle at 1 - 6 (although you'd need a crystal ball to figure out who they upset, they are good enough to win at least ONE of these games!), Chicago at 2 - 5

The competition is too good for anyone to sweep...the rest split with 3 - 4 or 4 - 3 records.

I cant believe everyone is picking Seattle to win 1 or no games in this format. Seattle will probably beat Chicago this weekend.

You really think that's the most PROBABLE outcome? That an 8-8 team with a ton of injuries will go on the road and beat a 13-3 that already crushed them in the regular season? Are ya sure?
