If the Lions lose to Arizona this weekend (1 Viewer)

If the Lions lose to Arizona this weekend, they will struggle to make the playoffs.

There will be 7 games left and they will need to win 3 assuming it takes 9 wins to get in.

The Lions Defense is 30th in passing yards per game allowed. It's a good thing Millen didn't draft a good defensive back. The best QB/WR combo they have played so far is McNabb & Curtis who scored 56 points.

If they lose to Warner & Fitzgerald/Boldin this weekend. Which 3 of these 7 will they win?

NYG - Eli & Plax & Good D.

GB - Favre & Driver/Jennings & Good D.

@MINN

DALL - Romo/T.O. & Good D.

@SD

KC

@GB

Assuming they lose DALL, @GB they will need to win 3 out of 5 (2 of 5 if they beat AZ) - NYG, GB, @MINN, @SD, KC.

They've play great at home and they've already won 2 road games. All they have to do is win out at home to get to the magical 10. And if they can beat Arizona or the Vikes on the road, that just reduces the number of required home wins. If the Lions were to play the Giants at home this week I would think they would be favs by less than 3 points. Of course that will be determined by what happens this week.

The schedule is definitely keeping my optimism as a Lions fan down quite a bit. The best team they've beaten was a mediocre Tampa team that handed them a win. There's a lot tougher games than that on the way.

And I'm not sure 9 wins gets them in, as they would lose a tiebreaker with Washington who is likely their main competition for that last wild-card spot. Beating the Giants would certainly help their cause.

A loss to Arizona will make things tough on the Lions. But really, they've sucked for so long, I'm just excited to watch meaningul games in November and December.

I have been depending upon Roy Williams for the last 3 weeks to pick up my bye week slack and he has not produced as his WR1/WR1A draft slot predicted. What's even more curious is why with Megatron hurt, why isn't he producing? He is by far the most targeted on the team in the last 3 weeks with 23, but he is approaching my "trade on name only" basis. I doubt I would trade him, but he is certainly disappointing lately. With all that said, as a Vikings fan, I hope the Vikings can be the team that eliminates their chances for post season play...

:thumbup: As a Lions fan I agree with this whole post.In my view the Lions can beat every team left on their schedule if their defensive line continues to improve and play like they have. The secondary can't cover well, as was evidenced by Philly, unless the quarterback is being pressured. For Detroit the old addage that the games are won and lost in the trenches is even more pronounced.

Lions fan since before Lem Barney. Barry Sanders gave us a chance. Too bad the Ford's didn't invest in building a winning team.....they just sold out because of corporate interest. Well, that was then and this is now. Millen is a buffoon. At least Marinelli has the team believing.

I take it one game at a time..........as the saying goes. However, I think Detroit can beat anybody on that list. I don't think Green Bay should be annointed with the second coming just yet, ask Parcells about Romo. Everyone lays a stinker now and then.

I see 10-6 and an optimistic 11-5. 11-5 gets in. 10-6 is what it will take to have a shot.

10-6 will get you in the playoffs if you play in the NFC. ARI is a must win. The following week is crucial against NYG. If they can pull those two out, I will finally start to feel playoff bound. Bottomline is, the Lion's have not beaten a good team as of yet.

Neither have the Cowboys.

Maybe. Giants were playing pretty poorly at that point. Ok, I'll give you that one.

The Card game is ONE game... It will not make or break the Lions' season. The MUST win games are the divisional games.... So far the Lions are 3-0. I would not even write off the Vikings...., and as far as the Pack, they are winning, but they have basically won 6/7 games late on 6 game changing plays... that kind of fortune has a way of evening out throughout a season. The NFC North is wide open and probably won't be decided until week 17.... Lions v Packers

The lions will beat the cards this week dont worry guys. Even if we do lose no big deal. We do have a tough schedule coming up. Just be happy and enjoy. I didnt even think they would get me 7 wins this year. As far as im concerned 8-8 is huge. We finally got acoach whos got the players playing. Enjoy it!

The Lions are 4-0 since the bye and playing good football. Their defense has come around. They will be in the playoffs.

Detroit will beat Green Bay.
Actually I think GB will sweep us (The Lions). Our seconday is weak, theirs is strong. Favre can score enough points to win. The 2nd game will be at GB in Dec., dome teams don't do so well there in the cold.

They are 3-0.Beating Tampa, Chicago, and Denver with Patrick Ramsey.Their defense is playing well, but against some sub-par QBs.They may make the playoffs in the weak NFC...but have a much tougher schedule in the 2nd half of the season.

I said at the beginning of the year it will be a split...GB just does not historically play well there on Thanksgiving.
We'll see. The Thanksgiving matchups have more to do with Favre and Co. playing poorly in domes and in Dallas which they have to do on Thanksgiving.This year is different. I don't see either team making a ton of mistakes which the previous game was full of. What's more awesome is having a Detroit/Green Bay game in late Nov and in Dec that have home field advantage and a likely week 1 playoff bye at stake.If Detroit wins the Thanksgiving game it will not be easy for Green Bay to win the division at all. Not that I ever said it was going to be.

I wouldn't be so sure 10 wins makes the playoffs for the Lions. The Bucs and Saints have very easy schedules, and the Saints would probably win a tie breaker if they both get 10 wins and the Saints don't win the South.

So Favre will just somehow not do well against a pathetic secondary. Makes sense.

haven't seen this kind of confidence from lions fans in about a decade.
There is a difference betwen confidence and blind optimism.I've had blind optimism for 9 years. This year its confidence.
Still confident? Which 3 games are they going to win? What if it takes 10 wins to get in?Their improvement this year was fantastic. But they are not a playoff team.

A. This poorly in domes thing was always a myth...I think Favre has shown that ridiculous statistic to be foolish quite a few times lately. When 2 games of the year are in domes, away, against a divisional rival, the player's record will probably not look great. But in recent years, Favre has done very well in both of the domes of the North. B. His play in Dallas is based on what? When Dallas were the kings of the NFC...not many people went in there and won.Im just saying, historically, on Thanksgiving, the Packers (even pre-Favre) have not fared well in Detroit. Even when the Packers had been the better team and Detroit was not that good, the Packers have struggled there.

Lions win next two against Giants and Pack at home...then at Minny...KC at home. Lose to Dallas, SD, and GB in final game. 10-6. PLAYOFFS!

Not if Kitna continues to hold the ball for 10 secs while in the pocket. He's going to be lucky to make it out of the Giants game in one piece.

I agree, Kitna looked horrible yesterday. Why he was even in the game on the last drive was beyond me, he was getting killed and the game was over.
