If the Saints don't win the Super Bowl this year... (1 Viewer)

I really hope he doesn’t wind up signing into a dumpster fire situation, so that he can prove all of you naysayers wrong.
Scary thing is I don't think the situation would be bad for a guy with some experience. And he'd get paid 💰 what do you mean "you naysayers"?

JAG wouldn’t beat Brady in a shootout in the Super Bowl.
I'm a Foles supporter but Foles wasn't going against Brady.  He was going against a mediocre to bad Patriots defense.  He had a great game (great couple games actually) but that can happen when you're dealing with small sample size.  Flacco also had a great Super Bowl (and entire superbowl run).

But Mahomes should still be MVP.
:goodposting:

NO had a much better defense than KC. Edge to Mahomes in this MVP comparison.

NO had a much better running game than KC. Edge to Mahomes.

Mahomes had 1100 more passing yards and 17 more TDs passing and ran for 250 more yards.  This was mostly because Brees attempted so many fewer passes, but the gap is so large that it is an edge to Mahomes.

Both teams ended up with #1 conference seeds, so that is a wash. Some will say that 13 wins vs. 12 wins is an edge to Brees. I don't see it that way, but, even if so, it is a small edge.

Both QBs faded to varying degrees in the last 4 games, but Brees faded more, with 3 TDs vs. 3 interceptions vs. 9/2 for Mahomes. The Saints are so good, they didn't need as much production from Brees as the Chiefs did from Mahomes, and that is precisely the point. Edge to Mahomes.

Brees certainly deserves strong consideration, but Mahomes is the deserving winner, and, somewhat surprisingly, it isn't particularly close.

I truly believe the Saints are better going into this year's playoffs than they were going into the playoffs the year they won Super Bowl XLIV.  And, of course, the main reason, is Drew Brees.  Like I said on another forum, he should be the LOGICAL choice this year for MVP.  Yes, Patrick Mahomes had more TD passes, but the Saints had 13 wins while the Chiefs had only 12.  And, yes, Dee Ford had 13 sacks while Cameron Jordan only had 12, but Dee Ford had his coming-out party this year, while Cameron Jordan has been getting sacks on a more consistent basis year in, year out.  The same could be said of Drew Brees: he has been a more consistent passer year in, year out while Patrick Mahomes's moment in the sun might just be this year.  And that's all the more reason why the Saints should be the odds-on-favorites to win Super Bowl LIII, hands down!
Saints unquestionably have the toughest road to the SB of any team in recent memory. they'll either face the Rams, 'Hawks, Dallas ( who spanked them) Eagles, Bears..or some combination of 2 of these 5..good luck Sean Payton!!

Rams should've beaten them, and can easily keep pace in a rematch, Hawks will beat them, Dallas already did, Eagles can run with ANYONE, Bears have a solid D that will beat up on Brees. in the past 25 years how many times have the top 2 teams from each conference gone on to the SB? maybe twice? so if you think the Chiefs make it, chances are , N.O. won't, and vice versa. they give up passing yards in droves. Rams ate them for lunch. Every other NFC team has an offense capable of putting up big passing numbers.

and then if they do make it to the SB< they cant beat NE - don't belive Payton ever has, actually).probably can't beat Balt., or the Colts who can seemingly run with anyone. They would beat SD and maybe the Chiefs. but I don't think they can beat these other teams.

I'd be fearful of Seattle, Dallas, Colts, NE, Ravens. They can score on anyone

I have a feeling that the SB will be two 'lesser' teams, like Cowboys v colts. or Seahawks v Ravens.

Yeah a # 1 seed who only has to win 2 games at home to make the Super Bowl has the "toughest road" in recent memory.   :lmao:      They sure have a tougher road than say a team like the Eagles or Colts.

The OP never clarified what happens if the saints dont win the superbowl.

I'm anxious to find out. Almost as excited as kick returns have made me yesterday and today

I'm very concerned they will win and then we'll never find out.

Or maybe it's like a mob threat: "Nice team you got there. Be a shame if it doesn't win the Super Bowl."

would HATE to see NE/Saints because the Saints don't beat NE , Payton's record is well below .500 against NE. they'll get the snot knocked out of them.

NE/Rams would be intriguing. Wade Phillips has a trick up his sleeve against NE.

Rams/Chiefs would be awesome, shootout type game like the MNF game was.

Chiefs Saints might be good too.

as long as Brady retires next weekend when the Chiefs beat them, it's all good.

1-2 ... not much of a sample size.

The Patriots aren't magic ... the 2018 Saints are, at worst, an even match for them. Any game can get away from a team, sure -- but I wouldn't forecast a Patriots blowout win if they met in the Super Bowl.

Yup.  When is the last time the Patriots blew out anyone in a SuperBowl?  That game won't be played in Foxboro.  This is truly a great championship weekend.  It wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if any of the 4 remaining teams won the Super Bowl.

No Superbowl for the Saints

No MVP for Brees

And Yogibear has not signed into his account since Jan 14.
I was looking for this thread the other day haha.

I am slightly concerned for his safety though.  Given the thread title, I hope he's okay.

Yogibear was stellar in this thread.  :lmao:

Mahomes should have been MVP, Saints didn't win a playoff game, predicted a Bears win...

Yogibear was the Jets' second round picks the past three years...whiff!

Refs handed the Saints two games this year with horrible calls.  The Rams and Bears had more wins this year than the Saints.  Trees was pathetic and and lower half caliber QB down the stretch.  He was so bad that Tayson Hill was cutting into his snaps.
