If you could tell 12-year-old you just one thing.... (1 Viewer)

try really hard at science and math and get great at them and do well in school so that you can write your own ticket brohan

I would have to agree with the writing code thing. Learn how to write code and then give some ideas like google, napster, facebook, whatever Mark Cuban did

But as I write this, it might be easier to just pitch and create reality series. Not sure how you get in the door there so Ill stay with Code writing

The winners of the next 30 super bowls, world series, Stanley Cup and NBA championships.
Why not just tell yourself the powerball jackpot for one of the biggest payouts? Ruining the outcomes of sporting events for 30 years drains the joy out of life.

to quote Alan Alda in Little Miss Sunshine...

"#### a lot of women, kid. I've got no reason to lie to you. Not just one- a lot of women."

Would have to wait 20+ years. And knowing my luck that would be the day I get held up in traffic and don't buy a ticket in time.

How much would 10,000 invested in Apple in 1989 made me
Apple stock opened at 38.50 on May 1st, 1989. This is when I would have been 12.

Closed May 11, 2015 at 122.24.

This does not account for stock splits or dividends. It split 2:1 in 2000, 2:1 in 2005, and 7:1 in 2014.

I should have posted a caveat that you can't choose something specific that would benefit you financially, but I thought there was enough creativity here.

"I'm going to give 12-year-old me the dollar/Swiss franc exchange rate so I can participate in currency arbitrage and buy a yacht." :rolleyes:

oh... and this time, be sure to follow your grandma's advice- even though it sounds messed up to an idealistic young person:

"It's just as easy to fall in love with a rich girl as it is a poor girl".

It's also easier to fall in love with a pretty girl than an ugly girl.

You aren't going to grow much more. Stop playing basketball and all sports and study more seriously.

I'll go with the championship one. No need to mess up the timeline too much and be the founder of Facebook or something. I don't need that stress. Just an easy way to make money 4 times a year so that I don't have to work and can retire at 40 when the knowledge of winners has passed.

Great topic DD. - I can think of a lot of things I would tell 12 year old me:

assuming the obvious financial ones are out - cause' they are way to obvious anyway:

The contenders are:

Stick with the sciences and you can parlay that into a better career later in life;

Girls are horny too;

Tap as many as you can without getting a serious girlfriend;

Take your time to enjoy the journey;

I don't know that I could help not trolling myself. If I could give myself some real advice it would probably honestly be to stop being a ####ing slacker and do better in school. But I'd probably say something like "Invest everything you've got into Blockbuster Video".

I'd tell the 12 year old you that Alan Arkin and Alan Alda are two different people.

If I'm doing the math right, $889,000. Somebody should doublecheck this, though.
