Wife loses ring? Big deal.  Husband loses ring? Unless you're one THOSE guys with diamonds and other nonsense it's a non-issue.  Lost mine golfing. Probably still in some pocket of an old golf bag.  Bought a similar looking band.

Unless your life is like a sitcom, it's always best just to let her know right away. The longer it goes on, the more suspicious she'll be.

Had an amazing Jeff Cooper ring, went to Puerto Rico for work related stuff without the wife.

Got hammered on the beach, got back to my room and realized it was gone.

Found some dude with a metal detector on the beach, offered him a G to find it. He was out there for hours, never found it.

Wife was pissed. New ring is not nearly as expensive & I really loved that ring  :kicksrock:
Did homie get the G for the effort?

My brother got married two weeks ago on a Saturday night.  He lost his ring on Sunday while swimming in the ocean.   My SIL was not pleased
Lost mine on like day 3 of our honeymoon in Cancun.  Walked up out of the ocean and realized it wasn't on my finger.  No hiding that. I was able to replace it with the same ring when we got back. Still have the replacement 25 years later.

I lost several. I was working in a field where some days I would be around high voltage. So I would take it off and it would be gone. After the third one my wife said screw it stop buying them and just don't wear one. Been married going on 28 years and haven't worn a ring for at least 27 of them.

He just disappeared. He had some super metal detector that also worked under water, he was up and down the beach/shallows all day - I brought him a few beers during the day, but after sitting at the pool I went back to the beach and dude was gone.

It was a plain band like this:

Doubt he could've gotten more than I offered him on the streets of Puerto Rico, so my assumption stands that the Caribbean Sea swallowed that sucker up.

Happy to see Cooper has bounced back after being cut from what, three NFL teams this year?

I lost mine a few years back while  raking and bagging  leaves.  More than 25 bags of leaves were staring at me while I contemplated what to do.

I told my wife,  and the next day she borrowed a metal detector from someone at work. I found my ring within 15 minutes.

Who'd a thunk it,  sometimes women are  actually useful?
I lost mine and had no idea where I lost it...  About three weeks later my six year old son found it in the back corner of our large lawn.  Almost the needle in the haystack.

:lmao:  What, Mr. Porter doesn't make $15,000 wedding bands?

I'm a jeweler and I can tell you that you should absolutely tell her--and losing the ring does not make you an idiot.  Every person loses things from time to time--whether it's a wallet, purse, set of keys, jewelry...etc--so there's no need to kick yourself so hard.  I often work with both men and women that have lost watches and jewelry--and many of these losses are rings.    The truth almost always has a way of surfacing--so you might as well admit to your wife that you lost it--there's no shame in being human.

Jeff Cooper does make some beautiful designs and his stuff is of very nice quality.  Totally sucks that you lost yours.  As a jeweler--I can tell you that there are some great "Cooper-inspired" designs that are nice that are made of contemporary metals that help keep the cost down.  One of these metals is Serinium--it's virtually scratch resistant, is very strong, and unlike many of the contemporary metals has a color that is more in line with platinum (many of the contemporary metals have a grey scale tone to them).  Here are some options that are similar to what you lost:

http://jewelryinnovationsllc.com/?s=Serinium+vertical+grooves&post_type=product

You might want to check around to see if any of your local jewelers carries Serinium to try on some of these styles in person.  I've been selling Serinium for a few years and my customers have been very pleased with the product.  Do keep in mind that no metal is full proof--and I do want to let you know that Serinium is no exception.  If you smash a Serinium ring hard enough against a very hard surface--you could actually shatter the ring--but it would have to a pretty sharp/severe impact.    Hope you find this helpful.

Never lost mine.  You guys all suck and I'm a much better husband than you.  In fact I'm going to tell the wife that the guys from FBGs have all lost their wedding rings and I haven't.  We'll see where it goes from there...

I probably started posting here in 2004-2005, and was a lurker about a year before that.  I didn't grow up in AOL chat rooms, and hadn't really had a lot of message board experience.  Back then Herbert the Hippo was a regular poster here.  Whenever I saw someone type HTH, I thought it was some inside joke reference to Herbert the Hippo. :bag:

Can you just buy another one that looks similar without mentioning it to your wife or do you have to tell the wife first? Serious stuff here.
This happened to me about 10 years ago.

I told her (don't see why not) and got another one.

The funny part?  About 6 months after this happened, I was getting some stuff on to do some work outside and found the ring in a pair of gym shorts.

I have to figure this situation is like one of the "moral dilemma" questions.

If you have to ask whether you should tell your wife, you already know the answer.

Lost a bunch of weight so mine just falls off my finger now.  So I haven't worn it in about 3 years.  Not lost, but not necessary IMO.

I know exactly where my wedding ring is at all times...right hand side of the top dresser drawer.

But if I were to somehow lose it, I would absolutely tell my wife.  If you can't talk to your wife about this, you have problems greater than a lost ring.

Lost mine a few years ago.  Told wife, bought a cheap tungsten replacement on Amazon and lived happily ever after...
