If your league has a week 17 championship game (1 Viewer)

I know... "week 17 title games suck". Tell me about it. Them's the rules, so no sense crying about it. Chances are, if you are reading this, you are also dealing with these thoughts. Wanted to take the pulse of the forum about players who may sit part or all of the game in the final week.

Let's assume that the team can do no better nor any worse in their seeding entering the final week.

These teams could possibly include N.E., Pittsburgh, Indy, Dallas, Green Bay, Seattle & T.B.

If Seattle and Tampa stay within one game of one another, they will both need to win in the final week to wrap

up the # 3 seed. Same with Indy and Pittsburgh, but the worry here is that the Pats will beat Pitt this week, thus

opening up a two game lead on the Steelers for the # 2 seed. :goodposting:

If Indy has the 2 seed wrapped up entering week 17, does Manning even get to play three quarters? How about Addai?

You know Favre will start in week 17 no matter what, but I can't see why he would play at all in the second half. Agreed?

I could see Romo playing nearly a full game in the final week. Reason being, they will have a week off, and unlike Manning

and Favre, Romo is still a young QB and they likely won't want to lose any momentum on offense. That's my guess, anyway.

I could see T.O. playing only a half, and Hasselbeck would probably not play more than a half if Seattle is locked into a seed.

Any thoughts/comments are appreciated.

The Tampa Bay/Seattle situation is kinda interesting if each has won their respective division. While it would seem you'd like to avoid the better team (which to this point certainly is Dallas) and get a higher seed, your reward for gaining the #3 seed would be a round 2 trip to Green Bay. These teams may thus have less incentive to move up (not that they would intentionally tank, but they'd be more inclined to rest guys (esp with the injuries both have had at RB).

Even the Giants may be a candidate for resting folks early if they are locked in at the #5 seed (though clearly this won't happen if NE is going for 16-0). Could be more Droughns and less Jacobs if that's the case.

There's no telling what Pittsburgh would do since they have a new coach if they are locked in at #3. If there's any chance at #2 they will naturally go for it. Likewise if there is any chance they could fall to #4 (who wants to go to NE for Round 2?).

San Diego certainly could play Turner more if they are locked in at #4 - they had no problem bringing him in during the blowout they had earlier this year.
