Anyone know where Reese will play? I've read a lot of rumors, but if he's at the MLB spot, I'd start him over Vrabel.... lookin fer some homer or otherwise informed info! Thanks!

ourlads has reese listed as the middle linebacker

The Falcons website also lists him as the starting MLB.
Here is a more important question, will he cut into D. Williams time as a nickel LB? Is Reese a run stopper or is he good in coverage. If he is the latter, that scares me because I have D. Williams.

I'm actually wondering the same thing. Both Brookings and Williams are available in my league and I have been thinking about picking one of them up but I'm not sure how Reese will effect the mix.

Cant see why Hartwell being out would remove DeMo from the nickel package ...

I'm not sure Ike is big enough to play MLB.For the Eagles he played nickle LB and is a good cover guy...Against the run I think he will be run at...And probably run over.

This is what I didn't want to hear. :X

The Falcons are actually refusing to say who is going to play where. For my money, I think Brooking will be back in the middle.

I agree, Reese is definitely not your stereo-typical MLB, he's must better suited for the weak side I think, but I also read that the Falcons weren't happy with D Williams lastweek in coverage. Wish I would have saved that link.

So as a recent waiver pickup owner of Reese (to take Hartwell's place on my roster) would you start Reese this week? My other viable starters are Thurman oh yeah, K Bell - no way, M Beisel - hurt not sure if he'll start. Lehman - plays only situationally :hot: and Chaun Thompson - talented but an OLB? slight highjack - sorry.

As long as he's able to grab a few shoestrings on their way over him I think he might be o.k.

I remember hearing something about Williams being benched due to getting blown up on blocks. Does anybody know if he will see less time this week? I am going to start K. Morrison instead of D. Williams if this is true.

Len Pasquarelli wrote: With the season-ending Achilles injury to Edgerton Hartwell, the Atlanta Falcons will have a reshuffled linebacker corps for Sunday's game against New Orleans at the Alamodome, and coach Jim Mora is keeping the exact alignment under wraps to try to keep Saints coaches guessing. The guess here, though, is that weak-side linebacker Keith Brooking, who played middle linebacker for three seasons before moving outside in 2004, will take over the "Mike" spot in Hartwell's absence. Brooking told the coaches Monday that since he is a team player, he would make the move back inside, even though he felt more comfortable as a weak-side 'backer at this point in his career. How the outside linebackers line up is still uncertain. The Falcons could move strong-side starter Demorrio Williams, who was absolutely trampled at times by New England last week (lending credence to the suspicion he is too light to play the strong side his entire career), to the weak side. That would leave either veteran Ike Reese or rookie Michael Boley on the strong side. Or they could simply leave Williams on the strong side and play Boley on the weak. There is some concern that since Reese is such a significant player on special teams, he might wear down if he has to play a lot of snaps from scrimmage as well.

i picked reese up in two leagues and after reading lenny p's quickhitter i'm thinking he might be back on the wire next week...

This one is scarey. Early in the week it seemed like Brookings to the middle, Reese to SLB and Demo to WLB was a given...but Brookings was quoted as saying a move from MLB to WLB or the reverse was easy...and that it would be much harder for a SLB to move to the WLB in their defense...especially for a new starter like Demo. (I have Demo! ) Boley is in the mix...and they like him at SLB...Reese is in the mix, and can play all 3 spots...so between Boley, Reese, Brookings, and Demo it seems any of the 3 could start. The alignment of Brookings MLB, Demo to WLB (his natural position..he's too small for MLB or SLB ) and either Booley or Reese to SLB makes sense to me...but if it's too much for Demo to learn I wonder if they wont put in Reese and Booley and leave Demo for Nickel (until he learns the WLB? ) or some other odd combination.... This one has been bugging me as I normally start Demo...and now I am forced to guess because Moras playing games!

Its never been a given that Reese would be a full time player. Even in light of the injury. they want him a) for special teams b) as a backujp that can cover three positions. Its obvious he cannot play middle or weak full time. Its a pure guess from listening to Mora, that boley starts at SLB and Demorrio goes to WLB, with Brookings back at the Mike. Then, Reese is at the ready for anything, should Boley struggle or another injury occur. ATL wants tons of speed in there (demorrio/boley) and leadership on special teams, that is what Ike does.

I guess we will see on Sunday as Mora aint telling early.

Sounds like a good week to sit the Atlanta backers (excepting Brooking) and take a wait and see approach. I'll probably start Vrabel over Reese for now.

 bye-bye ike :bye:

He only got 2 assists - I am in a contract Dynasty League and can't drop him. Is he starting or is he still just playing situationally? I didn't get a chance to see the game.

Brooking was moved to MLB, Williams was moved to WLB, and Boley started at SLB.Reese was only a situational player.

Boley ended up starting and while there is some question as to where (NFL.com has him at MLB, others have him at SLB) he posted decent numbers (7 tackles a FF)It really doesn't matter who is in there as you can see over the season because Brookings (9 tackles, PD and a INT) and Williams (10 tackles) receive the lionshare of the points on a weekly basis. However with a young LB like Boley playing he will surely improve as the season goes on but will also likely throw out inconsistant numbers due to a variety of factors.

I benched Williams this week for K. Morrison.... :wall: What's worse is that I benched Jared Allen for Kerney! :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Glad i didnt start Reese, but I still lost by 6 stinkin points this week. I'm not sure Reese is a very happy camper at this point, when the Falcons signed him they promised hima chance at starting.... with Hartwell down, he still hasn't been given the chance to succeed.

Boley has looked pretty good this year ... is he a sleeper dynasty project or is his value blocked by Demo and Brooking?
