I'm all mocked out (1 Viewer)

Is anyone else mocked out? I mean, at this point I half expect my secretary to send me a link to her personal 7-round mock with commentary even though she's never watched an NFL game. I'm actually getting pretty excited for the NFL draft, but it just seems like this year we're in mock overload. I'm all for the occasional mock, PARTICULARLY with commentary. But all of these mocks that are just names with numbers seem like noise in an ever-increasing sea of pre-draft speculation.

The problem is, your secretary's mock will be just as good as some I have seen.......... Ha ha ha!

Seriously though, I am ready for the REAL draft!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, if she gives you her mock, will you at least post it in the SP?

I am with ya, no more mock drafts for me. I am however trying to figure out where Lito Sheppard will be traded to.

I have done 3 or 4 mock trades:)

I am so with you dude. I think I got there about a month ago.

I appreciate the effort (really, I do) that people have given over the past two weeks posting their mocks here, there, and everywhere. But I don't think I've read a single one.

I think the big problem in discussing mocks this year is that nobody seems to want to discuss anything outside the top 10.

That's due, I'm sure, to the total guesswork that is going into the Dolphins pick.

But it's sooooo tiring discussing Jake/Chris Long, Gholston, and Matt Ryan to death. It's too bad there wasn't more discussion around players like Jerod Mayo and Quentin Groves.

(P.S. - LOOK AT ME! I HAVE A SECRETARY!!)

90% of mocks are spin-offs of what Mel Kiper and Todd McShay say will happen. People latch onto them, change a pick or two and then call it THEIR mock. Fact is, all mockers will look like fools on draft day when St. Louis drafts Darren McFadden and Atlanta drafts Vernon Gholston or something unexpected like that. Just a few more days until mocks are completely worthless...as if they weren't already.

Another thing is it only takes 1 or 2 trades and the entire mock is screwed up too.

mock drafts are so 2006 .... mock trades are sooo 2007.... :lmao: MOCK CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS .... THAT's MY NEW PASSION ..!!!! :goodposting:

People have the wrong expectations about mock drafts anyway. Like a couple people have already pointed out, the accuracy of mocks is too much to ask for. If you're that good at telling the future, you should be making boatloads in Vegas or Wall Street.

I think mocks are only beneficial in that they help in learning about which prospects are going to be in the general vicinity of a team's pick, to discuss a team's needs and traditional draft philosophy, and the impact that certain players would have on a team.

I know some people want accuracy in mock drafts, but I think that's unreasonable to expect.

Does this really belong in the shark pool?

I think this is why having 32 people who are familiar with their teams is the most effective way to mock. Even those closely following the team don't know exactly what any of these teams are thinking, but a least a good fan will have a better idea. I think it is interesting the person with record of the best mock drafts, barely watches any college football and definately does no scouting, but merely relies on his contacts to guide his mock draft.

If not, it'll fall off the first page soon enough. Of course you bumping it to ask the question gave it more life arguably. :football:

At this point, the mock drafts either feature wackier picks to set themselves apart, or the same picks for the Nth time despite us hardly knowing how teams have adjusted their boards over the past weeks.

My only bit of mockery: Glenn Dorsey is the best player available.

CAN'T......................STOP..........................READING................

.............MOCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously, i am also all mocked out but i cant stop reading them and i end up typing the same comments for each one. I need help.

I haven't done one in months just because there are so many. It's nice to read up but eventually they all start lookign the same. I'll probably roll out my first 2009 mock next week, but nothing more this year from me.

Instead of "forcing" players into slots based on what they've seen in the 2,116 mocks they've read, I'd like to see people have mocks (with commentary) that look like this:

1. Miami - DE. Because...

2. St Louis - OT. Because...

3. Atlanta - QB. Because...

4. Oakland - DT. Because...

5. KC - OT. Because...

I think if people were less hung up on the actual player they are slotting for the picks, going from the viewpoint of the position might result in more thought on the team's needs versus the players they've seen associated with the picks.

After a long relationship coming to an end.....I recently did a 10 team mock of what female co-workers would go out with me. I had the draft last week. I had three sure fire can't miss picks....I unfortunately went 1 for 10. I'm not sure if it's my comb-over or "Smile, it's the second best thing you can do with your lips." T-shirt....but either way only a 10% accuracy makes me consider giving up mocking forever.

Won't you be surprised when you learn that the one is a she-he.

Wouldn't it be even worse if a "She-He" filed a sexual harrassment complaint?
