I'm done with Pot Luck lunches (1 Viewer)

Just participated in what will be my last Pot Luck office lunch. It occurred to me that I hate just about every single thing related to pot lucks. I enjoy cooking food and I prefer to cook for more than one - but transporting is always a pita. I very rarely enjoy what other people cook. Some coworkers have such disgusting office spaces I wouldn't even want to see their kitchen. Not a big fan of people who just show up with a purchased dish - although they're frequently the most edible. Mildly annoyed by those who don't bring anything but show up to eat. This year we had to fill out index cards listing the ingredients for people with food allergies. I brought a crock pot of smokies in BBQ sauce and put that on the index card. At the end I went back and wrote "Oops and peanuts!" and got in trouble. Worth it. Anyway I am done with Pot Lucks.

I thought you said the last one was your last one.

Potlucks are gross.  There is a reason "luck" is part of the word.

I think our recent pot luck at work was about 75% cream cheese.

ETA: I brought four varieties of Pepperidge Farm cookies, half of which were whisked away to the boardroom for the monthly.

Work pot lucks are terrible.

Sunday afternoon Lutheran potlucks are remarkable cause all the food is made by old ladies who know how to cook.

Try a #### in a box next year with a sign on the box that says, "pet it and you won't regret it."

Works every time.

Potlucks are fantastic if the right people are involved.  My mom's side has a big summer party every few years and some of the casseroles/hot dishes whatever you want to call them are great.  Those come from my great aunts who are in their 60s and 70s.

My office does 3 of these on the Thursdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The office gets split into teams and one team brings food each week.  I'm not really into these things fwiw.  So the spread the first week is amazing, the second week is so so, and the third week it's a pathetic veggie tray from Publix and some awful pasta salad (looked like it anyway).  So shockingly people get burned out on these things after week 2 or team 3 is teh suxors.  So maybe they should rethink this "celebration" or just do away with it.  They also do a traditional Thankgiving meal the Thursday before Thanksgiving.  Really?  How about something else? In conclusion, I do not like potlucks at work.

My office used to do these all the time.  Hated them.  I'm a picky eater and 75% of it was untouchable or had stuff in it I didn't like.  Moved to a new building that has a ton of Nazi rules that crushed our potlucks.  Only think I like about the new ####hole.

Down here, you get the little old Italian ladies cooking for the Catholic Church potlucks  :moneybag:

I hate the lazy people that just scoop using same utensil. Like you can put each spoon/spatula down and pick up next.

Mmmmmmm... lil smokie coffee cake casserole salad.

I just give the lady organizing $20 and call it a day.

You hate that people bring pre purchased dish but you heat up pre-cooked smokies in BBQ sauce?  Hmm, I think I see where this is going.

Lol at people that think pot lucks are gross but don't think twice about going into any resteraunt in America.

When was the last time a potluck had to pass a health department inspection?

I'm not saying restaurants aren't gross, but at least they are regulated to meet certain standards. Food at potlucks is the epitome of anarchy.

not a fan of potlucks.  the food is pretty gross.  i wouldn't socialize with most of these people normally, now i have to stand around in a room with them and make small talk and eat crappy food?  sounds some sort of sick social experiment.  no thanks.

Bob from accounting was just knuckle deep in his booger shooter and then the tater tot casserole in succession.  PASS.

The biggest problem with a pot luck is that you aren't getting anything freshly prepared.

Even the finest restaurant food tasted like crap hours after it's been prepared and reheated.

The best way to do a pot luck is everyone chip in for some catering.

I learned how to make this pasta salad for one of the pot lucks this year.  It is actual pretty easy and even I couldn't mess up the recipe.  It looks colorful and people ate it. Don't bother putting in the little pickled peppers tho.

What if you like pickled peppers?

You just pick a pack of pickled peppers.
You would, but would Chuck?
