I'm starting Matt Asiata this week over ___________. (2 Viewers)

Over P Thomas at RB2, or perhaps over B Marsh/FJax/Hurns in flex pending todays news regarding his ankle.

 
Volume and poor run D should help. Should be interesting to see how much work McKinnon gets and if they mix in more Patterson runs.

PFF regarded Asiata as a RB2 with McKinnon a "speculative add" in their Tamme index (ranks backups and where they would rank them in case of starter injury, named after Jacob Tamme).

The Patriots had one bad game against the Dolphins and now they have a poor run D? The Seahawks gave up back to back 200 rushing yard games last year so I guess they have a poor run D too?

The Patriots had one bad game against the Dolphins and now they have a poor run D? The Seahawks gave up back to back 200 rushing yard games last year so I guess they have a poor run D too?

They also had a horrific 2013. Until proven otherwise on the field, no reason to upgrade them.

That they were gashed by a unit with 5 new guys upfront isn't going to alleviate concerns either.

Minnesota is a very good run blocking team.

2013 Pats defense lost Wilfork and Mayo. Add them along with Easley and an improved secondary and they will improve this year. Not saying they will be great, but not horrific like everyone is saying.

They certainly got run on in Week One. :shrug: Granted, Dolphins imported Lazor from Philly with a very effective run scheme and an uptempo style. However, it's not like anyone regards the new Miami O line THAT highly and Moreno/Miller are average starters.

I like the matchup.

Agree they couldnt be worse than 2013.

Funny you mention Wilfork and Mayo, because that's exactly who the Phins ran at. Behind castoffs Darryn College and Samson Satele. They simply smashed the Pats front 7 in the mouth up the gut. It wasn't anything fancy.

And mind you, the #1 weakness heading into this season for the Phins was the OL. An OL that was missing its best lineman in Pouncey Week 1. The Phins run blocking isn't even in the same conversation as the Vikings.

The game plan vs. the Pats this year is going to be simple. Smash them in the mouth. They're going to have to prove 2013 was an aberation before that game plan changes. In the meantime, I'd start any RB against them.

 
Passing on him this week, I see the Pats getting up big on the Vikings and McKinnon playing the second half as he is the better pass receiver.

Reports I see are Asiata is better at pass protection and has upped his receiving game. If they fall, not sure they vey away from vet if Cassel has to sling it.Oh, and thinking of starting him over T West, but jury still out on that one.

By kickoff, people in this thread will be saying they Asiata is better than Peterson. He's a backup, people, and they drafted another RB because they know he is barely even viable in a backup role.

:lmao: The guy has one career start and 49 life time totes, who gives a #### about his YPC. He followed up that 30 for 51 game with a 14 for 115 game (8.2YPC) with an ankle injury. You know those long runs AP makes, you'd have to go back to Novemeber of last year against DAL to find a longer AP run than the 39 yarder Asiata broke off vs. DET in relief work. That 39 yarder is also longer than any run TRich has ever made in his career. I'm not saying he's some kind of stud but the opportunity is there to be productive in what looks to be a plus match-up.

He was also chased down by a white defender with a number starting with "9" on that play. Not impressed. Even if AP was suspended for the entire season, I wouldn't give 6 games of Josh Gordon for Asiata. Guy is a stiff, I will be here to watch all of his suddenly optimistic supporters eat crow after he craps the bed today. How many AP owners even had him as a handcuff? 1%? Less than 1%? Hilarious.

I would be shocked to see Patterson get that many carries. I know McKinnon is raw but I wouldn't be surprised if this were a 70/30 split (Asiata).

Detroit was already thinking about the off-season in Asiata's big game. Still, starting RBs with GL opportunities on a team with a very good o-line are worth a flyer. Gerhart had a 41-yard TD and averaged almost 8 yards a carry in 2013. Prediction: Belechick adjusts and makes it tough for any Viking RB.

 
I am probably nuts, but I am rolling the dice and starting McKinnon over Asiata. I have a hunch NE will do a better job containing the big guy and we night see more of McKinnon than most expect.

One of my tough choices as well. Thinking I will go Ingram due to the overall questions in the Min backfield.

Going with Ivory instead. Argh... I have a bunch of RB2's so I need to pick right.

I ended up plugging Rainey in as I had DMart originally. Thought I would go with Asiata, but Rainey's time last year sealed it for me. Went with the devil I know over the one I don't...

 
I needed help in a big way at RB......Luckily I snagged Asiata in blind bidding. He's starting over the likes of Ivory, Bradshaw,Quizz, Sankey.

He is heavily involved, and Cassel is Capt. checkdown.....lovin it!

Unfortunately he checking all the way down to Pats.

 
Despite Cassel trying his very hardest to give NE the ball on essentially every drive, Asiata was able to have a very productive week.

 
In Cassel's defense, the vikes receivers have dropped a ton of passes, and we under constant duress.....just a bad game for the vikes

 
Thinking hard about starting him over J. Charles this week due to the Charles dreaded "high ankle sprain", playing on Monday night. If Charles is the announced starter before Sunday morning, Asiata will be riding pine this week behind Charles and L. Bell., as well as my flex, Donald Brown.

Ingram and Foster here. Even if Foster starts, I may give him a week to make it through a game. Kinda hope Foster sits...
