IMO the new NFL.com site sucks (1 Viewer)

eg when I click on a game score, I get this GAME CENTER BS w/the weekly leaders smack in the middle of the page wtf - I clicked on this game to check out stats for THIS game; get that league leader BS out of my way. And to make room for that, they got rid of the scoring summary, which is on another "tab" I have to click on. :rolleyes: Not helping is that pages on this POS site takes twice as long to load now.

And it's just plain butt-ugly to boot IMO.

:thumbup: They need to have a "restore 'classic' look" like applications sometimes do.

 
I agree. It is hard to navigate!!!

But I will say this... if you can actually make it there and have DSL... check out any player's game log last year.... click on the video camera and watch all the highlites for that game in 3 minutes!!! Now THAT is awesome.

Everything else stinks.

 
Yeah, it's horrible. I've been using CBS Sportsline in the meantime. My hope is that enough people complain and NFL.com changes back.

 
Agreed with most all of the above. Not liking the new site format at all. I use CBSSportsline and ESPN on gameday, but like to use NFL.com in most other times. It is difficult to navigate.

 
I wish to retract my last statement. I went to the gamebook this evening and its formated in Adobe and takes too much time to scroll around. I went to cbssportsline and it was like clock work. I guess my next question is how quick does cbssportline work on gameday. NFL.com is sometimes slow.

Sportsline is easily the quickest on gameday... results are in within seconds (always less than 10) on every play of every game... You have to use it with Sunday ticket to know which game to watch - who's in the red zone, which game has a crucial 3rd down - etc. ... Really nice to pair it with a FF league there - to see the scores updated immediately (alot quicker than any other 'real time' services I use MFL, AOL)
 
I really hope NFL.com changes back. I am not happy at all. I am always using the site to look up information now it takes me forever to get where I want to go. I used to be able to click 3-4 times now it takes 10 clicks. This sucks.

 
i like it :thumbup: I even changed my screen to 1024 x 768 and it still fits, so it should fit every computer made after like 1998. It remains to be seen how accurate/fast their game center is, but overall i think it offer a LOT more info in a much more organized fashion. And i think they do have some minor kinks to be worked out, but overall i think its a glimpse of the new wave of website design - that being wider, more use of dynamic elements and video, and generally just squeezing more features into the same space

 
I don't like it either mainly because they've removed the plays for each game that were shown before. Now they just have score and down and distance. It was cool having one window open which showed every play for every game if you wanted to check things out. Now you have to click on each game separately to see what's happening. Huge downgrade in that regard in my opinion.

You're right that wider pages is a trend in website design, but it's a stupid trend in website design. I have a 23" monitor and I still hate 1000+ pixel layouts, because I like having more than one thing visible on my screen. For example, I might want to have one window open to live scoring in my fantasy league, and another open to the Game Center where I'm flipping between different games. And I'll have my email and maybe FBG open, too. I want to be able to see all these things at the same time; I don't want to have to flip back and forth between them just because all the sites want to show me more advertising.
 
Why would the "Scores" tab bring you to a page that features "Weekly Leaders" as the most prominent piece? :banned:

:banned: The eye doesn't like to travel the width that these wide body sites make them. Most designs that expand to fit wide screens aren't really designed with them in mind and look like hell, IMHO.

 
I thought I was just being grumpy when I pulled it up last night. Ugh. I really liked the simplicity and layout they used previously. To me, it falls under the old adage "don't fix it if it's not broken". Oh well, hoping I adjust to the new layout, but I find it much more difficult to find the information I want quickly.

 
Obviously we're all missing the real benefit here, which is NFL.com's improved ability to cram more! brighter! flashier! co-branded partner messages and joint-promotions down our throat.

They'll be surprised at the drop in their page views too, now that you can only 'watch' one game at a time.

Have to agree with most here..it's a downgrade to me. Wonder if I can reset the font size so I can read it, always had bad eye sight now reading there I'll be going blind soon! :goodposting:

 
You haters are crazy. The site could use some design and navigation tweaks, but the massive amount of video now available there makes it absolutely essential. I think it's a great move in the right direction, and vastly improved over the old site, which I rarely, if ever, felt the need to visit.

 
Their old layout was run by CBS Sportsline. It looked almost identicle to what CBS had when following the games through CBS's live scoring.

 
looked at it on Sat night...while the game is in progress, the scoring summary is up front.

What I hate is not being able to scrollover a play on the current drive, and immediatly know what it was. The old site did that.

I work in a Web Software company, and one of the things we learned when upgrading versions for our clients was never remove working functionality. You will get complaints all the time.

I like the videos... Just wish they could put them on a seperate tab.
 
I've been watching the nfl.com gamecenter page for some of the games tonight and it's very slick.

I just wish they included the Last Play for each game on the main scoreboard page, instead of having to go into each gamecenter to see the plays.

 
Yeah, they should make it so that when you hover over each game's mini score near the top, it shows the last play info there. That'd be really easy for them to implement. Luckily, it loads fast enough for me, so I don't mind going from game to game.

 
*sigh* i miss when they had the season schedule readily available. they made certain links that dont support NFL NETWORK very very small, and everything leads to NFL NETWORK related pages. What a scam
