As I said - I think this is about a shift - dump the defensive studs for capital and invest in the O....as such they keep GW and Breece to give the new QB weapons with a solid OL. Enough capital to draft QB and another top WR. Also hope one of the 2 lotto WRs acquired can be #3 WR and the O is now NFL level. AG can coach up the D - they have shown they can land solid role players for reasonable $/picks
I love what the Jets did, mainly because they desperately need a QB and now they have plenty of ammo to get one.
Its an offensive league and without one a team has little shot. If they do t his right and use all the high capital on QB, WR, etc they can finally put together a good O - then with all the cap space and sneaky trades plus AG schemes then the d can be good enough.

Agreed and I'm on board with it. How long have the Jets been built around a solid defense with no QB, no real offensive identity or talent? It feels like it's been that way forever. Let's build an offense that scores points and then worry about defense second.
Ive read they may not draft a QB this year and the 3 1st rders are for the better 2027 QB class. I could live with that and use the draft capital to add a #2 stud WR to go with GW and shore up the interior OL. Only concern is if AG has another awful year he may not survive it.
Completely agree - yesterday was a vote of confidence for the new regime - just know how the media will be if they stink again next year lol
I'd be on board with making a modest trade for Mac Jones to be a bridge QB next year and then waiting for the right time to draft the next QB. As you said, use your draft capital to build the offense around the QB. This is more along the lines of the Detroit blueprint Glenn loves to talk about. That way when they do actually bring in the guy it is in an offense built for them to succeed in, not one with a turnstile OL or sorely lacking weapons.
Same page - Mac Jones reminds me of Goff (not as accomplished of course) - but hes young - has shown he can play and lead. 1st rd pedigree. Would probably only take a 2d at best for him and hes cost controlled for another year - probably would agree to a modest extension. Fields can be backup with his last yr of contract.
teams could have had Darnold and Baker for cheap as well - they obviously whiffed on Fields. Mac has now shown to be very solid in Jax and now SF. If they think he could be a franchise QB Id be ok taking a shot at him. I do agree the main hope if for Fields to look better and run with him next year as hes under contract already
I wonder if the "underperformance" line is a cover for "disgruntled because your brother was traded and you weren't?" I heard the Jets and Cowboys were talking about a deal that would send both brothers to Dallas but it didn't work out.
