Lousy Attention Whore
I've seen quite a few threads recently where posters have (understandably) argued that their team had a poor performance due to injuries. I can understand the argument that Team X would be better if Player Y was healthy, but they are also playing a team with injuries. In fact, I have a hard time believing that there are any teams out there this time of year that aren't playing with injuries to significant players. Waddayathink?

Injuries are a huge part of the luck factor in FF so it's a valid excuse. That said, good owners know how to work the waiver wire during the season and pick up guys who are off the radar. Sometimes though you can do your best and there's nothing you can do.

Injuries are part of football. Often what separates the good teams from the bad teams is depth. Of course no team is deep at every position so there is a bit of luck involved as well. You just have to hope that if one of your starters goes down it is at a position where you have a quality backup.

Do you mean in real life our our make believe fantasy land? NFL, injuries test depth...unless is overwhelming or to key personnel. With fantasy, however...well, it's kind of the same.

No, not FF. Real NFL.

I voted that it's no excuse, its part of football. I believe that for the most part. You need to groom depth, usually young depth, that can do the job, and be able to scheme to cover where you're left weak.

However, in the case of a couple of teams this year, I lean to injuries being a legit excuse. Carolina is down to some guy who really shouldn't be in the NFL as their starting QB. Some of this is their own fault ( D. Carr ), but to lose 3 QBs will kill just about any team.

The Rams are the other squad that I think has legit injury excuses, losing most of the Oline and QB and RB will slow down most teams.

But look at the best teams. The Colts have played without Harrison on O and Freeney on D, but continue to win games. The Pats started the season with Pro Bowlers Seymour and Harrison on the sidelines and continued to win. I see these teams cover weakness with schemes very successfully, and develop young talent well enough to fit the schemes.
