Instant Karma - Chapter 98: Highway driving (1 Viewer)

So people are just recording the road as they drive? We are blessed to be living in these amazing times.
You can put in a decent little system pretty cheap these days.
expensive, cheap, free- still recording...the road.
Look yellow and white lines!!!!!!!
somebody gets it. :hifive:
I've considered getting one of these systems...just in case...and because I'd love to start a webpage that's nothing but dumb##### from my commute.

I thought about taping my old walking commute to illustrate how many beautiful girls I saw on a daily basis. but yeah... filming road would be much better.

I used to have to walk across mid-town Manhattan when I worked over near Grand Central...I wish I had a body-worn camera on nice summer days.

There's a guy that does just that. Here is his compilation videos.

So yeah truck guy contributed but camaro guy gets the majority of the blame. I spend a lot of time behind the wheel these days and I can't tell you how many times someone has nearly hit me. Personally if I were in the pickup I'd have gotten over after I passed the first truck. Too many crazies you got to let that crap go. After flipping them off of course.
I'd keep driving till I was past both semis, but slowing down with the second is where he ####ed up.

If I'm the Semi-Truck driver and I see this going on around me. I just slow down and let both the idiots get around me.

I read somewhere that many vehicles in Europe now have dash cams because there is so much insurance fraud/who is at fault. I think it's a good idea.

On a side note, if you recall, there is good video of that meteor in Russia a few years ago, and a few airplane crashes that were caught by those dash cams.

That guy has to spend hours on the road for all that video. Geez, no wonder he has two cameras.
Honestly, while it is funny, and he does have a lot of good footage, I do feel like he's a bit hypocritcal. He gets on people for cutting through parking lots, then he does it himself, driving through a handicapped space to get out. He clearly isn't good at merging himself, etc. Don't get me wrong...80% is horrible driving from others, but he's not great either...

Again, who's to say he didn't? The pickup truck was obviously matching the speed of the semi and he can adjust his speed much easier than an 18 wheeler.

This is what makes the pickup truck equally at fault. He sped up to keep the Camaro behind him and then he purposely drove the same speed as the semi. Your not a cop and your not my mom, just be courtesy and get over and let me by. no reason for it.

I agree with you. I was just saying I don't understand why anyone is finding fault with the semi driver.

 I can see an argument for equally dooshy, but not for equally at fault. Not even close.

Yeah, I don't think anyone can say they are equally at fault. The PU truck driver shoulders some fault, but no where near equal fault.

Yeah, wrong choice of word there. Equally Dooshy. Can't believe Camaro tried passing on median. That is a bold move.

So, driving home yesterday, I had an incident that almost turned me into the pick up driver. All I could think of was this thread and how I was giving the pick up driver crap, meanwhile, I was no better.

I was getting on the PA Turnpike and out of the tollbooth, I get on the ramp. It's two lanes that merge into one then wind around 360 degrees to enter the turnpike. A semi is at the front of the traffic slowing everyone down at the merge point. As both lanes start to zipper in, the truck next to me decides he won't let me in. Now, I've done nothing wrong, just trying to merge like everyone else. But apparently he saw it as trying to get over on him. So I stay next to him waiting for him to give me room, but he is riding the guy in front of him's bumper. I guess that guy didn't appreciate it, so he brake checked him which caused the pick up to slam on the brakes. When he did that, I slipped into the opening, then I waved to him to "thank" him for letting me in.

This must have infuriated him, because he moved onto the right shoulder to try and pass me (and all of the traffic.) Problem is, there was a car parked on the shoulder. So he had to slam on his brakes and come to a complete stop. I was able to floor it onto the highway and take off, but he was stuck waiting for a huge line of traffic to pass by. I could only hope that everyone in that line was as nice as he was when it came to letting people merge.

When it was all said and done, I thought of this thread and said, "Damn. That could have ended badly." Moral of the story is: I should practice what I preach.

my daughter's disney ice princess song continues to get me through my daily commute- no joke. it's like a mantra at this point to keep my head from exploding. or vice versa.

After further review, the guy in the truck needs shot. He passes a car and has plenty of room to get right for a while and let faster traffic through. Instead he stays in the left and punches it when he noticed he will be passed on the right.

ah- the old say something wrong to stir the pot trick. we're not going to fall for it!

He was in the left lane with no one to pass for a minute. Pull over to the other lane.

He had a car in front of him and was proceeding to pass the semi when the camaro attempted to squeeze in with insufficient room.

I didn't see the car in front of the truck, you are correct sir.

One thing to notice in this video is that the car in front of the pickup truck is no where to be seen when the crash happens. You can see before the crash, they are going uphill, which is probably tough for the semi. I'm guessing the pickup truck had to be going WAY under the speed limit for the car in front of him to put that much distance between them.

Yeah, there's no doubt that the pick-up slowed way down in order to keep the Camaro from passing.

Correct. the #### in the pickup truck purposely drove the same speed as the semi in order to not let the Camaro through.

merge point. I'm in the right going slow since we are all backed up. Dude is on my bumper hard. I literally have like 3 car lengths to the end of our lane. No one is letting me in. All #####. Finally a spot opens and the #### behind me pops into the spot in the left lane and pulls up next to me not letting me in.I passed them all on the shoulder :bag:

The Valley Forge entrance? The merge getting on going westbound and the merge after you get off going eastbound are both horrible there.
