Instant replay is coming (1 Viewer)

Screen/hood on the side, a quick discussion with an upstairs ump, a quick look, make the right call. How is this rocket science? The NFL makes it seem more difficult than it really is, but the NFL has a lot more moving parts per play.

Slow down the game even more and it's a killer. This can be done right.

I've been disgusted for several years on wildly inconsistent balls and strikes calls. Don't even want to hear the camera angle BS... I've seen balls 8 inches off the plate called a strike... and balls right over the heart called a ball.

But this takes the cake... Really not that close and at the absolutely worst time possible time outside of deciding a play-off game. This was a man's shot at history and correctable with a quick review.

I am going to puke now.

umpires = Arrogant f*c(^5r arsh0lz!

Said this in the other thread. My idea is one challenge per team, per game. Refs discretion in the 9th inning. Teams get one challenge more if a game goes to extra innings.

No challenges on ball/strike calls.

No way to fix the ball-strike calls without turning it over to machines. Which uh, would work :goodposting: but that's a different conversation. That would revolutionize the game BTW, taking out a HUGE human factor that's been taken as a given and thusly milked for 150 years

Close outs though, shouldn't be a problem. Two per team per game. More if you get them both. One minute to look.

The easiest and quickest solution is to place a fifth ump upstairs with the video feeds. That way he can trigger a review, make the call and move on. Wouldn't apply to balls and strikes though as that would extend the game too much. It would work very similar to football in the last two minutes.

You want the managers to be able to trigger the reviews IMO. That way in blowouts or whatever, there's no pressure on the umps and the game moves along.

But the managers have a horrible view of the game and will admit that they usually have no clue on a close play until they go in back and view it again. In order for that to work they would need a guy in the clubhouse communicating with the dugout. An ump up top would be quicker.

Rays lost a run last night because the Ump said the runner did not touch 3rd and the replay did show he clearly did. This would have tied the score at the time in the 6th I believe. Awful call IMO.
