Interesting Q/A with Mangini (1 Viewer)

Jump to 6:25 of this press conference. Mangini is questioned pretty hard on why he refuses to acknowledge that Nugent has a hamstring injury, insisting it's a "leg" injury and that he's done this for 2 1/2 years as a philosophy. He then similarly refuses to acknowledge that another reported "foot" injury is a toe. I think some good points were made by the reporter (Dan Leberfeld)... why in the word does Mangini not have to give specific injury info when other teams do?

Well done by Leberfeld. It won't accomplish much beyond showing just how ridiculous and foolish Mangini looks for how he lists injuries. It won't change how he lists them obviously. The injury report is the league's biggest joke. Joseph Addai reportedly injured his hamstring in practice before the Ravens game and never was listed on the report. Tom Brady was listed on the report for years when he wasn't injured and then at times when he was, the injury he actually had (a sports hernia) was never mentioned. And on and on and on.

The league has tried to provide more clarity but it's just made things worse. It's really become a huge joke.

This cloak and dagger stuff is ridiculous - a tool like Bellichick can get away with it cause he has a few rings. Mangini just looks like an idiot. He has no fire and I have never watched a press conference of his after the first one - the guy says nothing and shows no emotion. His actions after that putrid Raider loss was close to how he acted in the preseason - nothing - I dont want to see a meltdown but a little bit of fire may inspire the team as well as the fan base - ala Parcells.

Thats the problem with playing cloack and dagger with the media - if you're winning no one cares but if you start losing they bring out the pitchforks and torches.

Vanilla is fine if you win - if you are losing it gets old real quick. As I said I am a fan of Mangini but he lost the media already and in NY that is dangerous when you are losing.

Herm is an example of all talk no action - would like to see somewhere in the middle if possible - not rah rah every week but certainly a little fire after losing a terrible game would be nice....
