Since 1986 (last 20 seasons) a Chiefs win in the home opener has been a STRONG precursor to what the season will be like.
In 18 of the 20 seasons, a KC win in the home opener equated with a season record of 9-7 or better. The only exceptions being:
1998, where they won the home opener and finished 7-9, and
1987, where they won the home opener and finished 4-11
Whats funnier is that both of those seasons were first or last seasons. 1987 was the first of Frank Gansz's 2 bad seasons and 1998 was Schottenheimer's last season in KC.
Just a little quick research I did. 90% of the time, the KC home opener foreshadows a winning or losing season. How that factors to fantasy, not sure, but thought it was relevant.
