Interesting WR Study (1 Viewer)

It is widely known that the second year is the most likely breakout season in wide receivers. There have been at least a couple studies by FBG's that prove this with much larger samples.

That's funny, I always hear from people that it's the 3rd year, not that 2nd. Is that really widely known?

In the FBG world it certainly is. Not so sure about the casual fantasy player though.

i dont really feel that this proves that the second year is the big advancement year.

i dont hink when a guy goes from 180 to 450 yards receiveng that really means anything. he is still not a viable starter.

example 1(warrick)

Not startable pretty much at all until year 3.

example 2(burress)

definitely startable year 2, a very good start year 3

Pinkston

not startable until year 3

Porter

made a 3700% jump in yards from year 1 to 2, but not startable until year 3

Krob

definitely year 2 was his best

Gardner

year 2 was his best

Morgan

year 2

CJ

startable year 2, but a stud year 3

Chambers

year 3 for sure

Lelie

year 3

Javon

year 2 broke out, but year 3 became a stud

antonio bryant

year 3

there also seems to be a pattern of regression for the people who break out year 2 which of course skews the year 3 numbers.

I agree with you, I just like reading different kind of studies and number crunching. It usually leads me to something else, which is what I am working on right now. I'll let you know if I find anything conclusive;)
