iPad (2 Viewers)

:bag: :lmao: :lmao:

I see people have zero clue about se7en here.
UAC is to (attempt to) prevent malicious programs from installing or gaining elevated privileges. Are you really complaining about having to click on a box and/or type in a password to confirm access? The problem with 7 is MS bowed to the "annoying" complaints from Vista users and lowered the setting in 7, but you do have a control panel app to change it (and disable it...no hack needed). A nice summary from a windows security expert:Windows Vista is more secure than Windows XP due to the benefits that UAC provides. If you don’t prompt or disable UAC, the computer is not much better off than Windows XP. If you run Windows 7 in any mode other than the most secure UAC mode, you are working with the same security as you did with Windows XP. Security has never been easy or convenient. If you decide to disable the great security feature of UAC or dial it down with the slider, you are missing the best security that Windows desktops offer today. If security is not an issue, why even upgrade?? Save your money for when the next version of ConFlicker attacks your computer, you will need it!
I'm well aware of the security issue in Vista and se7en (I used almost every version of Windows for years building boxes and workstations). Lowering the UAC is just part of what you have to do to say, overwrite something on an external drive. The whole "permissions" thingy is one of them.
"permissions" thingy? You mean permissions like on my Solaris boxes that keeps non-root users from trashing/overwirting other users files? (I started with windows in the 2.11 days)

Yeah, that and a couple of other thingy's that I had to do with se7en on my netbook.

In the real world

I've played with a co-workers iPad everyday trying out different things and I never noticed Apr. 12th. No arrow keys on the main keyboard. In all the typing I did I never missed them.
no arrows is annoying on the iPhone too, I'm another that does not like the click and drag to edit words that my iPhone thinks I am trying to say by auto-correcting me whenever I hit the spacebar unless I click the "x" on the screen to NOT replace my word.

Hi! Oh.I'm surprised this thread keeps going (not really surprised).

If I was going overseas anytime soon I'd buy a dozen of these and sell them.

How to print on an iPad.

Whatever you do, do not google IPAD NSFW and click the first link.

My parent really dig their ipads. A couple friends bought them and the initial oh wow sheen is starting to wear off. I personally think your enjoyment of the ipad is inversely related to how tech savvy you are. My 5yo is absolutely mesmerized by it.

I could live without some of the hardware shortcomings (usb, card reader, etc.) except for the front cam. I would buy it solely to videoconference with friends and relatives like I do on my $300 laptop. And chatroulette.

I'll take a look at the other tablets coming out or the ipad 2.0 with frontcam next year.

Needless to say, this could be a real issue for users in places like Florida, Texas, California, or anyone wanting to take their new $500 toy to the beach.
Sounds like an awful idea. Heat, sand and water damage. Awesome.
Have to agree here....anyone taking something like this or even a laptop to the beach is, well, stupid and asking for problems.
How are we supposed to pick up the hot chicks on Nagasaki Bay then?

:bag: I doubt there is much help for anyone relying on this thing to pick up chicks. There are bigger issues if that's the case ;)

I am really beginning to question your supposed "computer background" with dumb comments like this.
It's been clear for a while that he's was just making that up.
HATERS UNITE!!!

FYI....I don't hate you, but your comments here don't match what you claim your background/education to be. That's all
I've been lying this whole time. I live in a sewer with a ninja rat and some turtles.

That explains the short post. The only thing I notice you do around here is consistently make a fool of yourself, but you can call that "proving a point" if you want. :)

Is that added auto-magically by your iPad when you post?

Netflix movies and ABC TV shows come through in good resolution. When more apps come through for this it should be a nice product.

I know this will be flagged as a hater post by some here. I say to those stop reading now and do not reply.

I was talking to a long time tablet user here at work. He travels a lot and uses a tablet exclusively for note taking. Anyway, he was saying that he could not ditch his current tablet for the ipad because it does not support "inking". To him this is a critical feature on a tablet. He's looking forward to a device like the ipad that does support it.

So for those that have switched, if there are any, from a tablet PC using OneNote are you missing the inking? How big a deal is it to take notes with handwriting versus typing them on the iPad?

Curious to how other tablet converts see this issue and how they previously used the tablet versus how they are using the iPad.

Sure a jailbreak Ipad someone will put an application out that allows you to ink or you would hope so.

I was searching around after posting this. It seems the key to a lot of people is the capacitive screen is not good for inking since it doesn't allow you to rest your palm on the screen while writing. A few people also mentioned that the capacitive screen is not pressure sensitive.I use a moleskin notebook so i never thought about taking notes simply by writing on the screen. Although, in the calendar app I did think it would be nice to be able to jot stuff down there.

Capacitive screens react to skin contact due to the electrostatic field of the body. It would require a device that provides the same effect, a simple stylus wouldn't work.

Sausage stylus to the rescue.
