Is anyone making trades now to gear up for playoffs? (1 Viewer)

Not sure if this topic has been posted yet, but I am looking at some trades for my teams that are in good shape right now to make playoffs.

Which NFL teams have easiest playoff schedule? Has anyone analyzed. I know Cincy has an easy schedule, so I am looking to pick up Carson Palmer and/or Housh/CJ if possible.

Is anyone else looking to deal to get ready for playoffs?

I've been lucky @ 5-2 thus far and should make playoffs barring injuries...

So I've been slowly making adjustments in roster for playoffs...

See my team in Sig below, then check their week 14, 15 & 16 schedules...I'm happy. :wall:

I just traded Cotchery, James Jones, Graham, 1st rounder in 2008 for Bowe (week 16 vs Lions) and AJ for the stretch run after his bye week (Saints, Browns, Titans) and then Colts week 16.

I traded last week for Kitna (which I may regret) for Welker and DJ Williams and I just traded Chatman and Shockey for Winslow and Grant to my brother. I am currently sitting in first with a couple of bye weeks hitting next week which helped influence this weeks trade due to not knowing how to make it through next week.

My league is a Keeper league which is also IDP, PPR, and 1/2 PPC

12 team league

4 man Keeper

IDP and 23 Man rosters:

Offensive System:

1 pt per: 10 rush/rec; 25 pass; 15 return

1 pt per reception

1/2 pt per completion

6 pt per all TDs

-3 per Int;

-2 per fumble

Start:

1 QB

2 RB

3 WR

1 Flex

1 TE

1 K

2 DL/LB

2 DB

2 Flex IDP

My team:

QB: McNabb, Warner, Kitna

RB: Westy, Portis, Norwood, KK, Turner, Grant

WR: Chad Johnson, Wayne, Branch, Marshall, Mason. Hilliard

TE: Winslow

K: Dawson

DL/LB: Witherspoon, Ruud, Pierce, Beason, Peterson

DB: McGee, Hobbs

If you care?

Trying to get Braylon Edwards in every league that I don't own him. Jets, Buffalo and Cinci.
I made a difficult decision and traded him away so I could acquire Romo. It is a heavy TD league, and involved many players (I received Romo, SA, Cotchery for Warner, KevJones and Edwards), and could come to regret moving him. He is just on such a hot pace that I could not pass up grabbing the #2 scorer in the league (Romo).

Javon Walker could be a playoff guy to just stash. He's on the wire in both my leagues. He may not help at all, or he may go nuts in weeks 13-16. Worht a shot especially as bye weeks end. He's a great WR5 with upside.

When is he expected back?

San Fran has an easy schedule from here on out. Gore is trading low right now. Also, WR Battle is probably on many waiver wires. He could be a surprisingly good playoff start with games vs. Cinci, TB, and Cleveland.

I'm trying to trade Chatman and Witten for Gore and Cooley, and it looks like the other party is going to pull the trigger after this week's games. I have Gates = I stole Witten late in the draft w/ the intent of trading him later (just didn't think it would take this long). FYI: Chatman has Baltimore and NE in weeks 15 & 16.

Just picked up Kenton Keith for future draft picks. I am very solid with my 2 starting RBs but I just wanted a little insurance and didn't have to give up too much. If Addai gets banged up he's gold, if they split carries he's still an adequate fill-in.

Just picked up Gore for Jordan/J Jones/D Jackson.

Essentially Jordan for Gore, since Jones and Jackson will never see my starting lineup. Not sold on Jordan's back, and LOVE the rest of Gore's schedule.

I just picked up Jamal Lewis for the same reason.Still have SJax, SYoung, and KWatson.

Playoffs? Don't talk about playoffs. Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game.

Tampa Bay's schedule down the stretch is a cake walk. No real studs on the Bucs but many may be kicking around the waiver wire and may be cheaply acquired backups..... Hilliard, Garcia (for QBBC or solid back-up) and Bucs D.

Gore faces Minnesota in week 14. He might help carry you to the playoffs but that doesn't do much good if he fizzles out in your first round...

Lynch: Mia, Cle, NYG

Lee Evans might be worth a mention here as well. This weekend vs. the Jets should be a good indicator for him.

The Patriots play the Steelers, Jets and Dolphins. The Steelers aren't chopped liver but the other two teams New England should feast against.

Part of an article I wrote this week, for what it's worth...

Keep in mind, I'm not suggesting you hold a firesale on the guys listed in red below, but if you can manage to dump them straight up for a comparable player or package them in a deal for an upgrade at a position you should seriously consider it.

A word of caution: I'm using the typical weeks 14-16 as a guide. If your league employs different playoff weeks, adjust accordingly.

Playoff Passing Threats

Let's just start off with the money shot. Folks, there is no playoff passing schedule that even comes CLOSE to rivaling that of the Cleveland Browns.

The party gets started week 14 against the Jets disgustingly bad 26th ranked pass D and only gets better from there! The Browns playoff buffet also serves up the Bills (29th) and Bengals (28th). Not a single playoff opponent gives up less than 240 yards per game right now. Seriously people, it's not a stretch to envision a scenario where Derek Anderson throws for 9-10 TD's in the playoffs alone!

Players to target: Anderson, Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards - BUT I wouldn't do it now. Not with Edwards coming off a 100 yd. 2 TD day last weekend. If possible, wait until after week 11. The Browns will be coming off of back to back games against Pittsburgh and Baltimore which will depress their values. Looking for a bagain bin WR option that could pay HUGE dividends in the playoffs? Take a shot at Joe Jurevicius.

Others to target:

Jets: If you can stomach the poor matchup against the Pats in week 15, Kellen Clemens, Coles and Cotchery will also face the Browns (31st) and Titans (18th) in weeks 14 and 16 respectively.

Cowboys: Not a single playoff opponent (Lions, Eagles, Panthers) allows less than 220 y.p.g. Romo, Owens, Whitten and Crayton all look to finish strong.

Playoff Passing Pansies

Texans: The poor Texans have the anti-Browns playoff schedule. Not a single opponent weeks 14-16 gives up more than 185 yds a game through the air (Bucs, Broncos, Colts).

Wait until Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson get healthy. Once they and the supporting cast (Kevin Walter, Owen Daniels and Andre Davis) post some numbers, jump ship if you can get a comparable player in return.

Others to dump:

Steelers: Especially those of you in point per reception and yardage leagues, Roethlisberger, Santonio Holmes, Hines Ward and to a lesser extent, Heath Miller could be on the short list of players that carried teams for the season, only to pull up lame at the finish line. (@New England 182 yards allowed a game, vs. Jacksonville 214 allowed a game and @St. Louis - 201 yards allowed per game.)

Playoff Rushing Threats

For those who have managed to find their way without Rudi Johnson all year, you could be seriously rewarded for your patience come playoff time! No other RB in the league will have an easier go of it. This lineup of playoff defenses is seriously offensive!

(Versus Rams allow 156.4 per game, @ 49ers allow 126.8 a game, vs. Browns allow 149.5 per game). Not a top 20 run defense in sight. Those of you not currently in the Rudi futures market? The time to buy is now.

Others to target:

Edgerrin James: Should surge through the playoffs. With the slate of Seattle, New Orleans and Atlanta he won't face a single defense that likes to keep running backs under 100 yards.

Looking for a couple of less expensive options?

The Texans, Falcons, Bucaneers and Packers ALL face three consecutive defenses weeks 14-16 who allow 100+ yards. Take your pick as to who will be running the ball for those respective teams by then but if you're looking for my best guess as of today you should go after Ahman Green, Norwood, Michael Bennett and Vernand Morency (with Brandon Jackson having a punchers chance late in the year).

Playoff Rushing Pansies

There's one player that draws the distinct honor of not facing even one playoff defense that allows opposing teams 100 yards per game on the ground. Cedric Benson. Perfect. As if he wasn't crappy enough to begin with.

Others to dump:

Jesse Chatman: Might start you off on the right foot in week 14 against the Bills 24th ranked run D. but things come to a screeching halt after that. The Ravens (71.9 rushing yards allowed a game) and Pats (97.2 y.p.g.) will bring nothing but bad news in weeks 15 and 16.

Kevin Jones: The 2nd half sleeper on the tip of everyone's tongue after going off against the Bears this weekend will likely bring heartache for his owners in the 11th hour. Back to back beatdowns vs. the Cowboys and Chargers run defenses (5th and 7th respectively) will spell trouble for you.

If you want to roll the dice on a QB who won't cost much to get but has a great schedule look no further than Kurt Warner:

after this weeks Bucs game - look at his schedule!

10 vs Lions

11 at Bengals

12 vs 49ers

13 vs Browns

14 at Seahawks

15 at Saints

16 vs Falcons

That was a good writeup but do you still believe Brandon Jackson is anything but a bust? I fail to understand how in the world you can be so dismissive of Ryan Grant in another thread while actually advocating BJ. Morency is a maybe but from what we've seen from all the GB rb's thus far, how is Grant not considered the guy to have? It was against a lousy rushing d but he looked more than adequate and he's been named next week's starter.

No, you're right. The truth is that I'm not "advocating" any Packer. In my article I was just taking my best guess as to who you would acquire for playoff purposes - but I'm not suggesting you take any of them. That's my main point.

You guys are in a league were you make trades? One league I am in it must be a sin to trade.......I can't give away H.Ward for a DL, but it's been that way for years :lmao:

It depends on the kind of trade you are making.

Most of my fantasy teams appear to be "playoff bound" at this point and I am still hording talent on my bench. In a few weeks, I will start looking to package bench/starter talent in trade to upgrade my starter (in essence, trading away 2 players to upgrade 1). It's too early, though. If the player I trade for gets injured, I am screwed.

I made a trade in week 4 that was more of for the furture... but have turned it around of the Playoff run

Week 4: Traded Portis / Betts / 2nd for R Bush / DeWil

Week 6: Traded DeWil / 2nd for VJax / 1st (day before the Chambers trade)

This week: Traded that 1st (will be a late one) for Berrian

so all in all; I traded Portis / Betts / 2 2nds for Reggie Bush / VJax / Berrian
