Is ESPN trying too hard? (1 Viewer)

They were telling folks what they thought was going to happen.
Looks like they've joined the rest of the news media.
Hi gofish,Would you rather their insider guys never meake a prediction until they have official word from the team?I would not.J
He didn't report it as a prediction. If he did that, I'd have no problem. But he reported it as fact. He said sources told him Leinart will start. If he said, "Based on Denny being non-commital, I think they might go with Leinart" that would be one thing. But he didn't. He reported it as fact. There's no excuse for that. It was clear based on his comment that he was simply guessing, yet he phrased it as fact. You could almost see it playing out in his mind. Well, I don't know, shoot, I'll just go ahead and run with it. It was horrible. Chris Mortensen is no longer a trusted source. And he no longer has the contacts he once had. That's obvious in the lack of actual news broken by him these days. In fact, I think teams are more likely to leak misinformation (draft strategy, etc.) to him for their own purposes knowing he'll run with it.
