Is Fred Taylor hurt? (1 Viewer)

What happened to Fred Taylor yesterday? I noticed that none of the rb's in Jax had a ton of carries. Is he hurt or did he just have an off day?

The running game was shutdown and they were having success throwing, so they just quit running.

He had a knee sprain at some point during the game (per Jaguars.com), but I'm not sure when it happened. He was probable to return at that time so I'd assume he'll be alright against the Jets, and with a bye week following that I doubt it's an injury that'll carry over long.

Edited to say that whether it was the injury or the lack of a running-game early on that limited him is a good question.

the Skins D was shutting them down. Despite giving up 30 points, the D actually played well (hard to say, I know). Jax scored on some just incredible plays by Lefty and moreso Reggie Williams. It wasnt Jax consistently moving the ball all day, they had several very big plays. I'm still amazed at some of the things Reggie Williams was doing out there!

Washington's run defense is good.
Washington played very well yesterday. I watched the game live and twice on Tivo so far and other than a few missed tackles and bonehead plays, the Jags didn't to much to lose that game. The Redskins D played a lot better than the 30 points scored by the Jags would suggest. And the skins offense was running and passing all over the Jags D. I haven't seen any of the other NFC east teams look that good yet. I betting Washingotn wins a lot of games this season and make a lot of other RBs have bad fantasy days.

Do you live in Antarctica by chance?

Washington Defense against the run is underrated and getting better.
Fixed. They're dominant against the run if the game is in any way competitive (or they have a lead). They gave up loads of big pass plays yesterday though, maybe as many as six of 30 yards or more. The continued absence of Shawn Springs from the lineup hurts them in that regard, although there was some poor tackling that sure helped some of those plays. I would add that Leftwich and Williams were definitely in the proverbial zone too.

Thast still means a soft defense no? Good against the run bad against the pass is bad. For the purposes of this thread that would explain the whole 10 rushes thing.

Why do you need to come up with a label? I gave you a concise description already.

I'm perfectly calm. I'm simply posing a question. I have no idea what your use of "soft defense" means given that it's the last thing from a term of art.

Washington is a bad defense. Soft. 30 points allowed is bad. If the Jags had run the ball more they might have had a better game. I don't think it was Washington's menacing run defense turned Jax one dimensional.

Yes, because clearly their running was working out so well when they were doing it.
Jacksonville Jaguars RUSHING ATT YDS AVG LG TD F.Taylor 7 16 2.3 6 0 B.Leftwich 5 14 2.8 6 0 M.Jones-Drew 3 3 1.0 2 0 Total 15 33 2.2 6 0Maybe they should run Leftwich more - he had the best ypc. BTW - let's remember one thing - Jacksonville led that game for almost the entirety of the first half and until late in the 3rd quarter. They couldn't even run with a lead.
