Is Hakeem Nicks no longer a WR1? (1 Viewer)

Yep. He'll be lucky to start as my wr3 at this point. Huge disappointment and a waste of a trade for me. You suck, Nicks!

Definitely not as down on Nicks like most people here are....it's frustrating, but he still put up about 70 yards against a team thats been pretty decent against #1 WRs. Sure, Fitzgerald went off last week, but Stevie Johnson, Miles, Dez, and Roddy were all shut down by Philly.

If you drafted him as highly as I and most other owners did you probably have no choice but to start him going forward, but I think it's clear at this point that Victor Cruz, Manningham, and Nicks aren't ALL going to be great fantasy plays week to week.

Not only do I not see him as a WR1, I doubt I would start him at flex in a bind going forward. One more game like tonight and its off to the WW with him. I don't want to hear about the injury anymore, he's not producing, and that's the bottom line. Untill New York rebuilds, and they need to beacuse they are a one and done team, I will not be drafting any of their players in the future.

For just about every WR1 in the league, they average about 25% more targets/game than the closest other receiver on the squad. Those targets generate more catches, which generate more yardage, which ultimately generate TD's...all of which we want.

At this point in the season, Hakeem Nicks has 1 target more than Victor Cruz (whose targets and receptions seem to increase each week) and only 3 more targets than Manningham. In fairness, he did miss one game due to an injury, but I'm left to ponder if Eli is beginning to gain trust in his other receivers? It has been since Week 4 since Nicks has had the most targets in a game & he has had only 2 100-yard games all season.

With the emergence of Victor Cruz and, recently, Jake Ballard, are Nicks' best FF days behind him? I recognize he's still a talented player, but in terms of FF value...is he really a WR1?
Everything is complimentary and out of necessity. There's no need to force it to Nicks. Let the D double him or adjust however they see fit to stop Nicks. Cruz is killing em' and when they shift focus to Cruz, Ballard and Mario have stepped up. I know the SD fan base here hates Eli and has pushed that attitude for centuries around here, but the guy has really come a long way. Yeah he fumbled tonight. I'm sure no other QBs in NFL history have ever fumbled. In 2011, he's used more of his weapons and quite comfortably. His face shows his emotion so transparently, I seriously mean quite comfortably. He's just not pressing and rolls through his reads.

Sure he figured this out 200 years after Peyton did, but he's tough to bet against now.

ouch, better luck next year

agreed, Eli and Cruz have a man love thing going and Nicks is the 3rd wheel. (more like 4th wheel cuz Eli sometimes cheats on Cruz with Manningham). I was hoping Nicks would be traded to another team where he could regain his WR1 glory. No love, no TDs for Nicks in NY. Time to move on. incidentally, i'm getting the same vibe being a Mike Wallace owner and seeing big Ben throw to Antonio Brown more and more... so frustrating.

He is being doubled and Eli is tired of throwing a ton ofpicks... so he's just hitting whoever is open or in one on one coverage. Not rocket science... Nicks is a beast, but his fantasy production is going to take a hit until teams realize that they need to pay just as much attention to Cruz and Manningham.

As a Giants fan I was very appreciative of Nicks' production last year. I didn't own him in fantasy and attempted a couple of times to obtain him, but the price always seemed too high for me and what I saw in Nicks' play. Then going in to this year I see him ranked and being drafted way higher than I think his talent suggests. Don't get me wrong. He has the ability to be a great WR. I can even on some years I think make it in to the top 5. But he is by no means an elite talent. Too many holes and not enough speed. I don't think he is as skilled as say Fitzgerald who isn't the fastest. Nicks is fantastic and his skills are nearly elite, but just short IMO. Add to that his injuries and I shy away from him in fantasy. The price his owners are asking is usually too high. Give me a guy like Greg Jennings or Mike Wallace any day. I love Nicks as a Giants fan. But he was highly overrated this year. With that being said I still think if healthy he is a WR 1. But he is more along the lines of VJax or a mid tier WR1 than he is the top tier of Calvin, Fitz etc.... or where he was being drafted this year.

Cruz>Ballard>running backs>Nicks. At this point, he's become a decoy. Talent is still there, but the emergence of Cruz and Ballard has really shook things up.

People need to understand a hamstring injury lingers. This guy isnt close to 100%. He's on my squad and Im not surprised at the lack of big time production The Giants cannot run the ball that effecitvely and defenses know it. Offensive line is more make shift at this point from past years. The Giants offense just isnt as good collectively as last year.

Nicks is a low end WR2....at best.
idiotic rating
WR18 in my league going into this week. :yucky:
so then how is he a LOW END WR2 AT BEST? seems hes above that right now
and thats with missing a game. and now you are whining about a guy who has 5 for 63 yards in the first half. only conclusion i can come to when i read this board is that its filled with posters who historically have all time great fantasy teams. the whining and self entitlement are amazing.

I like seeing Nicks step out of bounce there. It decreases his chances of getting hurt by running an extra 20 yards. Wise

I thInk people have the shortest memories ever. Last year...just last year... When the giants were healthy and even with nicks being hurt, he was THE top wr in the league until the injury and still ended up top 5.

Trying to trade for him in dynasty? Might as well back the u haul up and LOAD IT UP! Because he was untouchable.

Now, the entire giants team is banged up and nicks is being talked about like he is freaking mikes sims walker all of a sudden. But he is still a top 15 right now and, if we are talking dynasty, is 23 years old. Nicks is fine. The people crying that he isn't superman every week are not.
