Is it bad to have IND or NE players (1 Viewer)

Chunky Soup

Both IND and NE will surely end up with incredible records.

If you're looking for a playoff run, is it a shark move to avoid these guys as they may sit in the late weeks of the season?

I've been stung in the playoffs after an undefeated season...because of Sorgi starting instead of Peyton.

That being said, I wouldn't take a downgrade in trades for these players (Brady, Peyton).

A quick take from a Pats homer: it obviously depends on when home-field advantage is determined. With the way those two teams are running it could come down to Week 16 or 17.

Having said that, assuming that one or the other takes a step backward and somehow home field is determined before Week 14, I would be VERY surprised to see the Patriots rest anyone. Tom Brady was playing in the 4th quarter of a game they were winning 42-7 at halftime this week, and he's the friggin franchise.

The Colts, on the other hand, have a history of giving their stars some rest heading into the playoffs. I don't think it's a significant enough risk on either side to actually deal these teams' guys away, though.

Mr. D

Our last playoff week is 16, to avoid this. However, I don't think you have to worry about this issue anyway, because these two teams may be battling for home field all the way to the end. Also, NE may be trying for 16-0.

I think, however, the Cowboys, if they are not challenged for home field by the Giants or Packers, are more problematic regarding this issue.

I don't think you have to worry about the Cowboys sitting anyone. They have some big NFC east games at the end of the year I doubt anything will be locked up.

Once Indy's try for an undefeated season was stopped in 2005 they sat Harrison and Manning but Edge still played.

Belichek has always rested his starters if the game was meaningless. Too early to tell what happens on the 16 - 0 quest but he has shown he will sit his starters in meaningless games.

Dallas will probably have much tougher second half. I don't see them running away from the field IMO.

Sorgi has never started over Peyton (who has never missed a start).Peyton and the Colts...and NE will most likely be fighting for homefield or to hold on to home field coming down the stretch...neither will be sitting anyone.Look at Indy's stats last year down the stretch. Peyton was still airing it out, Rhodes and Addai were still running the ball, Wayne and Harrison were still getting theirs. Harrison was a big reason I won it all last year.

Manning did not sit in week 16. Played about a half. Week 17 he saw one series.Brady played just about every game, except in week 17 of 2005. He played at least 2 series there throwing a TD and an INT.

I think Indy and NE will be battling for HFA through week 16, so I don't think anyone will get burned.

Week 17 might be a different story, though, for those whose titles are decided that week.

You're right. Peyton did start in Week 16 and Week 17 in 2005, but in Week 16 game against Seattle he only stayed in for two drives; in week 17, he stayed in for one drive - not to mention Edge didn't have a single carry in this game. In Week 17 in 2005, Brady stayed in for three drives...only throwing 8 pass attempts. I wouldn't call that reliable. They obviously contributed towards the end of last season because they were still in the hunt for home field advantage. That wasn't the case in 2005. If they cannot improve their home field advantage or have already clinched come Week 16/17, Dungy will not hesistate to pull Peyton and/or Addai - same goes for Belichek (barring the 16-0 shannigans).

I think the Pats and their arrogance won't bench anyone other than Maroney. I mean, they haven't eased off of anyone no matter how big of a lead they've had.

I have a feeling they are gonna try to shatter all the offensive records and leave no doubt in people's mind.

Brady and Moss will play all 16 games I suspect. However, I'm sure Peyton will be shelved.

Brady was in the game because their lead dwindled to 14 points and they were no longer covering the -17
Actually it "dwindled" to 21 points.
Actually YOU'RE WRONG, it dwindled to 14 points in the fourth quarter.
(10:40) (Shotgun) 16-M.Cassel pass short middle intended for 83-W.Welker INTERCEPTED by 99-J.Taylor at NE 36. 99-J.Taylor for 36 yards, TOUCHDOWN. Miami 28 NE 42
Then sure enough Brady comes off the bench to replace Cassel.
