Is LArry Johnson injury serious? (1 Viewer)

I just checked my crystal ball and it said "It's not in the cards!" I think I would sell him now while you can!

(Why would any of us have any more information than what you saw at the end of the KC game? How about waiting a day to find out?)

Am I the only one who upon seeing how he went down, immediately think of Priest Holmes? The similiarities are uncanny.

He was on ESPN radio about an hour ago, and said he was sore, but would be "ok". I am not a doctor, nor did I stay @ a Holiday Inn last night.

dont ask for a link.

Or will he be ok...
When the sideline reporters asked him during the game as he was down on the ground, he responded "I'm not concerned about the injury, I'm just loving life right now."Seriously speaking, wait a day for injury news. It's only been like that since the dawn of NFL football.

KC sports media met with him and he seemed fine. Said he was wincing a little getting changed after the game, but said he will be fine. Said he wanted to go in and score the TD., even if he had a broken neck.

I will see if I can track down any transcripts from local affiliates, etc.

 Thanks KA.

Chiefs Running Back Hurt In Win

Larry Johnson gave the Kansas City Chiefs quite a scare.

The Pro Bowl running back was injured on a facemask tackle at the end of a 78-yard pass play late in Kansas City's 23-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Johnson broke free down the left sideline after catching a short pass from Damon Huard. The Cardinals' Antrel Rolle grabbed Johnson by the facemask and the running back's head was twisted as he fell out of bounds at the Arizona 8. He lay motionless for a moment, but eventually got up and left the field under his own power.

Rolle was called for a personal foul on the play.

"All I remember is trying to get back on my feet and try to move around and see if everything was working," Johnson said. "I wanted to be safe about it and see if there was really something wrong or not."

Johnson planned to have an MRI on Monday.

Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald was hurt earlier in the game when he injured his right hamstring in the first half, shortly after catching a 5-yard touchdown pass from Matt Leinart. Coach Dennis Green said the injury "looked fairly serious."

Fitzgerald said he would get an MRI on Monday.

I will see what else I can dig up.

You have to love Larry's attitude. Hard to believe Vermeil questioned his toughness. The man is carrying this entire offense on his back. Their o-line is a joke right now.

Anyone see P Holmes coming back now?
Call the PriestIn light of the gristly neck injury suffered by Larry Johnson, it's probably a good idea to review the Kansas City running back depth chart. Dee Brown took over after Johnson left the game. Brown's modest size doesn't make him an ideal every-down back, especially as a backup to the muscular Johnson. And last week's goal line fumble doesn't help, either. Michael Bennett was added in the offseason, but Bennett has been inactive most of the season due to a hamstring injury. I know, I know, you're shocked that Bennett is hurt. Then there's the wild card, Priest Holmes. He's on the PUP list, so he could be available after next week. There's been no information made available regarding Holmes' neck injury, nor any comments from Holmes, which I take as a bad sign. Still, if you've got a roster spot available, he's an intriguing pick up.

In its state that part of the nation saw today, yes it was. But any informed person would know that KC played without 2 of it's top 3 OT's today. Kyle Turley and Will Svitek were out. That sorta has an effect.

I don't think they consider Svitek better than Black, despite what the rest of us think. ;) Here's what I posted about LJ in the injury thread...Larry was interviewed in the locker room after the game. Reporters asked him about his neck because they saw him grimacing when he was getting dressed. He said his neck and back hurt a bit, but that it wasn't much different from any other Sunday, and thought he'd be fine. They took X-Rays, won't know results until tomorrow. He wasn't wearing anything on his neck, looked normal. He said he asked to be put back in the game at the goal line after he was out for that one play, but they said no way.

I agree it has an effect. Untill those players are healthy, the KC o-line is among the worst. When they are healthy, the KC o-line is low average. While we are on the subject, any news on the health of Turley or Svitek? Also, do you agree that neither Brown nor Bennett have any real value with the current state of this KC offense?

You may be right. I am higher on Svitek than most. I think handcuffing is overrated IMO. Brown and Bennett have nowhere near the talent that Holmer or LJ has, or had in PH's case. If we lose LJ everyone might as well ignore KC, as it will be in suckdom for the season. That being said, nothing short of death may stop LJ from playing. The man is a throwback to how football was played. Also, KC O-line looked okay to me @ home vs. SF. Now, before you go calling me a homer, I know SD, PITT, DEN, JAX and BAl aren't SF, but KC plays different @ home, where they will play 6 of their last 11 games. I really think the TYPE of runs that our genuis OC Mike Solari was calling were not correct. He was trying to run many sweeps and strethc plays instead of quick blasts....also, when you dont throw the ball downfield, teams stack the box.

we basically know this already but the lastest update is:

Chiefs | L. Johnson injury update

Mon, 9 Oct 2006 05:46:14 -0700

Updating previous reports, Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson (neck) suffered a neck strain after his face mask was yanked during Week 5.

Its hard to say with a neck injury. The pain and suffering won't start till today. Hope he is okay and they fine the x#%# out of the guy who did the Horse Collar via Face Mask. Tackling via the face mask only should be major fine and the player forced to leave the field IMO.

Add a suspension and no paycheck for as many games as the player tackled is out.

Man the guy that did it should be fined or suspended, that tackle looked ugly and uncalled for, he was probably going out of bounds before being taken down,

Not to :hijacked: , but other than the extreme cases where you think the handcuff is a stud if the handcuff takes over.... the other half of handcuffing is so you always have SOMEONE who starts for his NFL team in case your starter goes down. Hopefully you have enough depth you'll have a better option, but with other injuries and bye weeks to have to deal with, handcuffing is very worthwhile if you can avoid having to start a 3rd down back because of it.On who his backup is, they said Bennett is the backup, but he's dealing with an injury. Anyone know how serious it is?

For those of you who haven't seen the play yet, NFL.com has the game highlights up and available:

If Antrel Rolle is not fined and/or suspended for this flagrant foul, then everybody will be valadated for stopping a TD by possibly ending anothers life or lifestyle by ripping the opponents head off.

This has to have consequences to keep the game from getting out of hand to the thugs. :2cents:

One thing to consider about LJ and this upcoming week. KC plays in PIT for the first time in 17 years. Not kidding, its been since Marty's first season in '89....anyways.....

LJ is from PA and it is his first game as a Chief back in his homestead. I gotta think that will be extra motivation, neck soreness be damned.
