Is LT Flex Worthy this year ? (1 Viewer)

I think that he will really take quite a bit away from Green. I see LT getting about 150 touches this year.

Green owners are gonna cringe when the Jets get inside the 5 and LT comes into the game to do what he does best.

150 touches isn't much based on the fact the Jets ran the ball over 600 times last year. If 30 of those touches are receptions, that leads to about 120 carries and 480 left to Greene and whomever left. Tomlinson will probably end up with more like 250 touches, what he does with those touches will determine if he's flex worthy. My guess is he'll be a matchup play.

You think he will be the 3rd down back too ? That may equate into lots of reception too. Can this be a typical LT game ? 5-6 receptions per game30-40 receiving yards50-60 rushing yards 1 vultured td

He's going to be 100% the 3rd down back.
Jets coach Rex Ryan called LaDainian Tomlinson "the best third-down back in the league" after Saturday's scrimmage.

More like:2-3 receptions15-20 receiving yards40-50 rushing yards.5 touchdowns

Barring injury to either player 4 rec25 rec yrds25 rushing1 tdIt's that last thing that kills the Green owner. And the one I feel most strongly about.ETA: Not a td every game, that would be stupid. But you'll see this stat line enough to make it hurt. Alot.

Yeah, probably so. But, he may have several games like I posted too mixed in there. Matchups may be key.

Really? What a coincidence, pound the ball between the tackles is exactly what they're younger, stronger RB does best also. :goodposting:

The homer in me says LT will do well, but I just don't see it unless he finds the fountain of youth in new jersey. It's sad to say, but I just haven't seen that burst out of LT in a long time.

If I owned LT, I'd look to trade him after 3-4 weeks. I just can't see him lasting the length of the season without getting nicked up.

In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if it starts out as much more of a 50-50 split than most people expect, causing LT to become a hot buy and Greene owners to start panicking.

But as the season rolls on, I think Greene will begin to be used more and more, until he's the primary RB towards the end of the year.

Sure looks like he will be used. And if he is used he will produce because the Jets are a gold mine for RBs.

And IF Greene happens to go down to injury, you can instantly put LT back into the "super-stud" category. That's a nice bonus upside to me.

Aren't people saying his toe is healed and he looks quicker so far ?
He has looked pretty quick to me this preseason. I am feeling pretty good about LT this season. He does have to open up against Baltimore on MNF. Anyoen have the stones to start him this week?

The reason people believe this is because Greene does have issues holding onto the ball. If LT were not on the roster, of course they would overlook those issues, but when you have a guy who has a wicked nose for the endzone, is realtively fresh over the course of a game (regardless of career wear and tear) and can hold onto the ball, why would you not use LT if you were at the 5? It also stretches the Defence because you can swing a pass out to LT as he is a better pass catcher than Greene.

This. The Jets will run the ball close to 500 times, and virtually all of those carries will be split between LT and Greene. I think both LT and Greene get over 200 carries. LT is easily worth a flex spot, and may be a RB2.

I'm pretty high on LT this year, I think he ends up the RB to have from the Jets. Plus if Greene goes down, Tomlinson becomes a low-end RB1.

LT will kill Greenes value this year based on Greenes ADP.

A resounding yes. A great flex play this season with upside to RB2 if the chips fall right (he stays healthy and Greene has a sophomore slump or plays soft).

Speaking from the gut here.

I never bench RB's with great o-lines due to matchups. The Jets have been playing against 8 in the box and still open holes.

At least 500 times. They ran 607 times last year and they're defense looks good enough (with Revis back) to allow them to lead the league in carries again.

If the Jets rush 600 times again this year, LT should get 250 of those, and lots of goal line looks. Plus the 3rd down screen passes. RB2 PPR gold ?
The Jets probably won't run 600 times, LT probably won't get 40% of whatever that number is and nobody knows what will happen at the goal line.

Has anyone been watching Hard Knocks this year? Sanchez is a bottom tier QB. Rex Ryan will run the ball almost as much as last year to continue to hide this. He has openly said on the show that they have "a formula that works". They are going to pound the football with the running game to hide Sanchez's weakness. Combine this with a #1 defense and they are tough.Additional factors to consider if you have been watching the show:1. Joe McKnight is in the dog house and will not leach carries. His attitude stinks.2. Fullback John Connor "The Terminator" is going to open serious holes. He has a complete disregard for his body. This can't hurt YPC.It is very likely they will run the ball 560-620 times this year. LT looks very sharp right now and he is out to prove some people wrong about being old. I personally think this will be his last great year, and it will come as a backup RB getting 220+ carries and quite a few receptions. He is certainly the 3rd down back, but not necessarily the goal line back and is very flex worthy. With all that said, LT is the side show and Shonn Greene is the real deal. Facts on Shonn Greene:- Only college football player in 2008 to rush for over 100 yards per game- 2008 stats at U of Iowa: 307 attempts, 1850 yards, 6.0 YPC, 20 TDs- 2008 Big Ten Player of the Year with too many awards to mention as a JUNIOR- Entered the draft early and Rex Ryan moves up 12 spots in the draft to get him at 65th overallShonn Greene is entering his prime on the #1 rushing offense in the NFL. You can expect what he did in the playoffs last year to happen most games in 2010. Tremblay has him at 310 rushes for 1360 yards. I believe he will exceed these numbers. For leagues that award bonus points to 100 yard rushers, Shonn Greene is your man.No fear prediction: Greene - 355 rushes, 1562 yards, 4.4 YPC, 12 TDs (receptions are a question mark)LT - 220 rushes, 1012 yards, 4.6 YPC, 7 TDs (receptions are a question mark)Personally, I am not a Jets fan at all. :tinfoilhat:

Those predictions seem rather high. you are predicting more carries for Greene than Jones received last year, and more carries for LT than Greene + Washington received. I think it's more likely that Greene + LT carries =500, however it is split. Brad Smith, Joe McKnight, Santonio Holmes, Sanchez, Richardson/Connor will account for 60-70 carries.

Anyone else wonder about the conspicuous absence of Shonn Greene on Hard Knocks? I can't remember one sequence even mentioning the guy.
