Is Michael Floyd underrated? (2 Viewers)

I own him in dynasty and have him locked up for the next 3 years. Until this season I was not happy about that. I am now. He's freaking awesome. Just watch him play. And Palmer loves throwing it to him. He's got a my ball mentality and plays hard. Very very talented guy. He's a strong wr2 with elite wr1 potential.

This is rotoworlds latest blurb after he put in a limited practice again today:

Floyd has taken reps on back-to-back days. While he should be active against the 49ers, Floyd is nothing more than a boom-bust WR3 option.

Boom or bust wr3??? Am I missing something?

boom or bust is just another way of saying ''who knows what he`ll do''....you dont need to be an expert to say that lol...trust your gut...if hes practicing and starts then play him...period

Still underated. Don't see him very high on many rankings this week.

From an ESPN article yesterday:

Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians held his breath when wide receiver Michael Floyd had to chase and extend for a couple of passes during Fridays practice.

But Arians was eventually able to exhale. Floyd, who is recovering from a hamstring injury that caused him to miss Sundays game against the Bengals, has progressed nicely, Arians said.

Floyd feels hes ready to play this weekend in San Francisco. I felt good, he said. Im feeling like I have been when Im healthy and the legs are feeling good.

Sounds like Floyd is ready to rock, if active I feel pretty safe expecting double digit points in a 0.5 ppr

Wish I hadn't bothered with James Jones and waited for this guy. Would have been worth the risk with hindsight. Hope he has a big game.

Then Floyd "should" climb in the rankings this week?

Ugh...just what I need to hear. Own this cat in 4 leagues but working the overnight shift today AND tommorow. No way I can wait until pregame to decide what to do

In one league where he is my 3rd best WR, I'm starting and will sub in Boldin if he's inactive.

In another where he's my 5th best (DT, Alshon, Landry, Hurns), I'm sitting unless Landry or Hurns are out.

Looks like he is back and fully healthy. 12 targets and 7 for 104 last week and made some great catches..... Starting him with confidence as a WR2 from here on out. The AZ offense is as elite as it gets.

I'm so glad you brought this up. I'm seriously considering sitting Fitzgerald for this week (non-PPR). Anyone else in a similar position and thinking of benching either Brown or Fitz for Floyd? Minny's D has been decimated by injuries and their secondary should be a mess this week--I can see Brown and Floyd getting behind it early and often.

I own Fitz too and he is a lock for me every week (0.5 ppr). I would defintely start Floyd over Brown. If you have any combo of the 3, I would start them all (depending on other players on roster). AZ offense is elite as it gets.

I take back all bad things I've ever said about Floyd. He's really coming through this year.

I'm probably starting him over Draughn at flex this week. Mainly due to the fact that my opponent will be starting Palmer against me.

Never got that strategy. Start the guy you think will get the most points. Palmer could just as easily throw for 300yds and 3 TDs to Nelson, Brown and Fitz leaving Floyd with 1-15 or something. Meanwhile Draughn could have netted you an easy 20 pts. Playing the block never seems to work out.

I'll rephrase. 3/4 of his last games he started he's gone for over 100 yards. I think he's likely healthy this game and Palmer will be targeting him. I personally expect him to score more points than Draughn in non-ppr. Hedging against Palmer feels better than hoping Draughn gets a TD, which he has only done once in the last 4 weeks since becoming the starter.

Floyd seems to have a much higher ceiling the Draughn.

That sounds much better.

Both of Minnesota's safeties are out this week, which means he will get behind their secondary at will. Tough to keep him on the bench this week.

Barr is out as well, limiting pressure on Palmer. Sadly as a Vikings fan, this could be a bloodbath, but I'm starting Floyd with confidence.

Flexing him over..J. Matthews, Parker and Adams in standard. Not a super difficult decision although I think it's close-ish (I really want to start Parker).

I'm now considering him over Julio.

Sounds crazy but Ryan and the whole ATL offense is in a funk right now and MIN injuries make this a plus matchup. Likely won't do it since I will also have Palmer, Peterson, and D. Johnson going tonight. But damn I'm tempted.

Floyd over Julio? TY? Seriously?

OK...

Just consider that he's the third and likely fourth option after Fpitz, Johsnon and Brown. Also, a game where they may get it in hand early. I'm playing Brown in some leagues but where I have Floyd, he's on the bench.

There is no way come playoff time I'd bench a true stud like Julio for a guy that's just as likely to have three targets for zero yards as he is to catch 2 TDs. But hey that's just me.

I think you are wrong on that one. His targets/stats when he was/is fully healthy and playing all snaps / starting as the #2 which I think started to happen around week 8 were:

8 - 4 - 101 touch (week 8)

9 - 7 - 113 2 x touch (week 10)

12 - 7 - 104 (week 13)

Week 10 he was out (hammy) and week 11 he was limited and didn't play a full suite of snaps. I'd venture to say he is now the #2 option behind Fitz. Also, there was this article from AZ beat writer Darren urban about him being fully back and making a huge impact as well as teamates gushing over him:

http://www.azcardinals.com/news-and-events/article-2/Michael-Floyd-Makes-An-Impact/175c5986-3119-45c7-8d54-7dc9f50851eb

As well as the GM calling him out as greatly improved player:

If he stays healthy, I think he can finish ROS as a top 15 WR or even better and lead many teams to the promise land..... and yes, I own him in both my leagues so I may be slightly biased..... :D :D :D :D

That's some good knowledge! I still couldn't play him over Julio though. I only own him in one league which is ppr and I have ODB, Jeffreis, sanders and Baldwin who's on fire lately. Now ya got me thinking though....

Rolling him out tonight. Hope he produces. Thursday of playoff weekend usually sets the tone for how it will go.

The entire RB squad only 40 receptions on the year. I don't think a 3rd string, rookie RB is going to be getting more looks than Floyd. Even playing limited snaps since returning from injury, Floyd led the team in targets last week. He's been ramping up since the hamstring and has been shown to be a favorite end zone target for Palmer. I'm not saying bench Julio for him, but when he's been healthy this year, he's been top 12 on a points per game basis. It's easy to miss when just looking at season totals, but if you own him you notice it.

mI wish I had the nads to roll him out over Fitz in a non-ppr league. I think he blows up tonight with not safeties out. Palmer is feeding him and Fotz is the underneath security blanket

In over Fitz for me in a non-ppr league
I think the distribution recently, as a percentage of Palmer's throws (don't quote me on the exact %, although the pecking order is correct), has been something like 30% Floyd, 23% Fitz and 20% John Brown. This is interesting, because it was quite literally the opposite of this when Palmer was healthy in the past.

I'm still going back and forth.

Interesting. I would have thought Floyd was second to Fitz. Floyd and Brown are going to get behind this secondary tonight.

I was surprised as well since the preseason narrative, Floyd injury aside, was that he was the red-headed stepchild of the bunch. The numbers speak otherwise, Palmer really loves him a healthy Floyd. How could he not though? Floyd has been decimating DBs deep.

Currently got him in line-up for Wk1 playoffs. Nervous!

WR: ABrown, Hopkins (those two are easy calls).

Flex: M Floyd

Sitting WR's: TY & Travis Benjamin

Travis was actually my first choice early this week with Manziel returning.....now Q. TY - hard to trust Hasselbeck. Got about 5 more minutes to beat my brain then I'm committed. Hah.

GL to all playoff teams playing this week.

I find it hysterical that there are still people out there who view Floyd as the 3rd option at best in the receiving game behind fitz and brown.

Couldn't be more wrong. Thats the way it was in the first half of the season BC Floyd was hurt and took a little while to get his football legs under him.

But once he returned to health he's been dominant and a primary read for Palmer. The guy is a specimen. First round draft pick and was drafted to be fitgerald's heir apparent. And he's proving that he can be that. John brown is a good wr but he's just small and fast.

When fitz leaves if Floyd stays he will be the wr1 in Arizona.

well so far its Brown who is making the biggest impact
