its pretty much consensus that bush was one of the worst presidents in recent history, but he's quickly becoming my favorite current ex-president. he seems to be spending his time just chilling at home painting which is pretty awesome. painting is not a very conservative kind of hobby. i think he'd be a pretty chill guy to hang out with. the only problem is you'd have to go to texas.

I think he's got the IQ of a radish and his paintings are comical. My wife's niece goes to Temple art school and she was doing better work in the 6th grade.

you guys are being very critical. at least he's painting interesting things and people. way better than some "abstract" crap you see all over that a kindergartner could paint.

I hate myself for loving you.

Never should have run for President, never soulf have been elected. Never should have led the way he led. But damn if I don't like the guy. He's just a regular dude. It's our fault, because Presidents shouldn't be regular guys.

his paintings look like anyone else who paints for fun. They are neither good nor bad for an amateur painter. Looks like he is having fun.

This sums it up pretty well. I always :lmao: at the people who actually thought the man was evil and hated the guy. Usually that person also doesn't quite grasp that the President doesn't control the entire world.

I didn't like some of the things President Bush did, but he certainly seemed like a well-meaning, good guy. A high school buddy of mine worked for the SS and guarded the President when he was at Camp David and he said that President Bush was always respectful and downright pleasant to every single staff member - from armed guard to busboy.

People I know who dealt with Obama said the opposite, one of the most arrogant SOB's they ever dealt with.

Up there with Hitler.

Also, his paintings aren't bad.
Supposedly the problem with Hitler's work was twofold: the angles in his buildings were skewed and more importantly he had a huge problem capturing people properly, which might have revealed a severe inner deficiency when it came to empathy.

Churchill of course was also a serious painter.

Just spitballin here of course.

Funny. People I know say the complete opposite about Obama.

Confidence and determination can be easily interpreted as arrogance, especially by those who want to see it.

Could be. Just stating what I heard from people who have dealt with Obama directly.

Terruble painter, but seems like an awesome dude to hang with. He's a mountain biker as well.

Really? Jimmah Carter has a better case to make.

Paintings are decent; he's not going to make anyone forget Van Gogh.

The google linked photos of his art are interesting enough, magnitudes better than I could do, but not great art in my uneducated estimation, though occasionally he does capture his subject. What I would like to see are the paintings he won't show the public. Where is his erotic series of Condi Rice? Where are the Palins? Where are the Nancy Pelosis. I understand his Pelosi period is powerful and disturbing.

I understand that in his erotic series of Palins that in a nod to modern culture he has Bill Clinton depicted in the background, photo bombing, or would it be portrait bombing. In the art community there is a fierce debate whether Clinton is being portrayed as narcissistic or voyeuristic.

come on man.that's why i said "one of" the worst, not "the" worst. to avoid this very argument.

Seems OK.  Nice that he's using his talent to help those less fortunate.  Seems to be enjoying retirement.

God, I wish he was the Republican President right now.

College buddy of mine was also SS. Said the same thing about Bush. Also hated Gore and Obama

I mean, if he wasn't a president he'd never be in a gallery or anything, but he could sell paintings for $20 on the street and afford enough cheap wine to stay drunk and keep a roof over his head.  He's good.

Don't care how good the paintings are.  To sit in an intimate setting with guys who were injured because of decisions you made and get to really know them shows something genuine I didn't see in him while he was Pres.

Looks like practice is helping. Some of the portraits are pretty good. He is very crude in his style but I assume that comes from a lack of training. I mean as outsider type art it works.

W has always been a decent guy.  I thought it was always pretty obvious.

I have a close friend and his cousin was with the secret service for 20 years at the Whitehouse. He also said the Bush's were very respectful and nice to work for.

W was primarily an empty suit Cheney and company used. So i never thought he was evil per se. But he knew what they were doing in his name and he let it go on. So he doesn't escape blame.
