One thing that makes players like Priest great is offseason work. If he's not able to put in the work and get his mind and body ready to a world class level, then he'll walk away. There are alot of factors to consider......age, new coach, new system, increased playbook preparation, young stud RB that he'd be forced to back up, the departure of some other veterans due to cap restrictions......his NECK and the ability to WALK during the remainder of his life. Im guessing right now, and this is just a guess so please dont jump down my throat, but Id say he's a 90% bet to be done. jmho.

His stepfather was recently quoted as stating that Priest is doing nothing right now to prepare for the season. Apparently, at this point of the offseason, he is usually working out like a maniac. This year, however, he is sitting around relaxing. Not a good sign for those hoping he comes back...

Chiefs | Holmes may have restructured his contract

Mon, 6 Mar 2006 06:21:16 -0800

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Priest Holmes may be one of the team's players that restructured his contract to get the team under the salary cap. He would have cost the Chiefs $5.33 million under his previous contract. General manager/team president Carl Peterson would only say, "First of all, I really appreciate players that think about the team first and themselves second. Priest Holmes has always been that way."

Priest as we know him, is finished.

he could be like another Marshall Faulk, i.e., a decent 3rd down back, but thats it. in no way, do they sit LJ to start Priest...no way!

look,he'll be 33 in october..he's had his moment in the sun, let him ride off to the sunset, he's a hall of fame player i'd think...but he doesn't have what it takes to beat out LJ, ..he hasn't played a full season since 2003, and lets be honest, he didn't look all-world before the injury last year...he looked slower , IMO.

Eddie Geore did the same thing, he just hit the wall, so to speak..he looked nothing like the HOF RB he was in Tenn, when he played in Dallas..i n fact, he was lousy..

sometimes the injuries and the carries take their toll...Priest is past his prime..it happens..

he will play.  Think either Bettis, or Marshall Faulk.
Neither of those two suffered the type of injury that Priest did.Priest is scared. I can't exactly blame him.
Yeah that is true....I've been hoping for the best for him, and hopefully he gets a clean bill of health. He has always seemed like a classy guy, a bit weird but very classy. And he always has been loads of fun to watch, I'd love to see him play one more year, try to finish out a season without getting injured. Of course that is more the nostalgic football fan in me talking....

Has any KC homer heard if they are going to cut him or not?? I don't think he commands the respect like Favre gets, but how much does the organization feels they owe it to him to not cut him?

Even as a Bronco fan in Missouri, I'd love to see him come back, too. Not gonna happen, though.

He will NOT be cut- he restructured likely because he will retire and he wanted to help their cap hit. Of course as an LJ owner, I want him to retire.

NOTHe was simply dominant for three seasons, but no where near HoF material. He has only broken 1K yards rushing 4X in 9 seasons. He might get an honorable mention plaque of some sorts for the record (at the time) 27 rushing TDs in 2003, but that would be it.

He's not goign to play. He almost didn't last year. Now he's lost his starting job. Fail to see how he comes back.
