Is Ray Rice back? (1 Viewer)

I actually benched Rice this week after several mediocre outings. It worked out OK for me (I won anyhow), but I see he had an awfully good game, in terms of numbers. (Wasn't able to see any of it.) This was the Rice I expected when I drafted him at #4.

Ravens homers or others who watched the game- how did he look? Is this the guy we can expect to see the rest of the year, meaning a high end RB#1? If so, I may trade one of my other starters at RB (Foster, Best, Hillis) in order to improve my WRs, who suck. But in order to do so, I need to know: is Ray Rice back? Or should I sell high?

The other thing that I'm seeing here is that Rice's two TD runs came on goal line carries of 1 yard each. That is even more encouraging, though I don't know what McGahee's status was.

He's got some sweet games ahead:

At New England

Buffalo

Bye

Miami

At Atlanta

At Carolina

Tampa Bay

Week 13 is against the Steelers, but then take a look at his playoff schedule:

New Orleans

At Cleveland

Cincinnati

That should be pretty good. The only concern is if the Ravens keep winning they might clinch before week 16 and rest some starters. But the way the Steelers, Jets, and Colts are playing, I doubt this happens. So it all looks great- IF he truly is back.

McGahee's status was his suckitude and being stuffed twice at the 1 yard line during the first drive.

Thanks for the update.

That's even better. So he wasn't hurt? Great. Maybe Rice will be the gl guy from now on?
Rice was also the back in when Flacco sneaked it for a touchdown at the 1.

Can you please post your entire roster?Regards,THE FANTASY KING
I only brought it up to put the question in context. But it's a reasonable question. What is Ray Rice's value for the rest of the year? Is it as the elite RB#1 in the position that he was drafted, or is it as the low-end RB2 he was in weeks 1-4?

he never went anywhere. he had 80+ yds rushing in 2 of his games, got injured in one, and was hurt and playing the steelers in one.

you cant expect your rb to blow up every single game.

Let's put it this way: in the latest FFA 250 list last week, Rice came in as the 13th most valuable player. Below Foster. Below Best. He started the year out as #4, I think. If you were making this list tommorow, would you return Rice back to the earlier spot?

I benched Rice for Steven Jackson and Michael Turner today. Rice will see the field from now on and then i will choose between the other 2. Rice is clearly a top 5 back with fantastic balance and vision.

LOL Dude, you join 5 days ago and you want this smart ### remark to be remembered as one of your first? Have you just been waiting to get to post this on someone? Seems to be more and more of you boys joining every day.As to Rice, he is definitly a great addition to the team for the ones who were able to buy low last week. He looks to going back to be the focal point of the O and his schedule is sweet- but dont discount the Cleveland run D during the playoffs.

What was most encouraging, and if anything should change his status from yesterday to today, it was the 27 carries and the 4 catches. I believe he is more talented and has a better offensive line than Best or Foster. With that many touches he is going to unleash numbers when he's not playing the Jets and the Steelers--my biggest concern was how many times Flacco was throwing the ball. If Baltimore gets back to how they played last year, if they play like they played today, Rice is right alongside CJ and AP.

them goal line td's were a beautiful thing eh
I've always thought Rice was one of the best short yardage backs I'd seen in college. I'm pretty sure he's better than McGahee in short-yardage & goal line situations, but McGahee is plenty competent at that himself and I agree with letting Willis smash his head into a brick wall over Rice.

He never should have moved much from his #4 spot. He was mostly a victim of situation, as he looked incredibly impressive in every game he played that he was healthy in. Today you saw him again look impressive, only situation didn't prevent him from excelling as it had in previous games.

27 carries this week after getting over 20 only once in Week1. Change in the offense?
More situational, I think. It looked like they felt that they could run on Denver right from the git go. And it'll probably be like that in most games -- if they feel like they can pound it, which they're pretty good at, Rice will get plenty of touches.
